The press cutter is productive equipment that practically manufactures materials such as fabrics, papers, films, leathers, rubbers etc. into the desired shapes using cutting method. Plate cutting process is one of the primary energy absorbing mechanisms in a grounding or collision event. The cutting mechanism is complicated and involves plastic flow of plate in the vicinity of the tip, friction between wedge and plate, deformation of plate. In this paper, we studied the effect of friction between cutter and plastic sheet for producing precise and superior products. The press cutter is analyzed numerically using MARC finite element program according to the variation of friction coefficients. The FEM results showed that normal stress, equivalent cauchy stress, normal total strain, equivalent total strain are good when friction coefficient is 0.0 and shear stress, shear total strain are good when friction coefficient is 0.8.
In this study, the crashworthiness analysis was carried out for the hat type section side rails which had an important role of absorbing the impact energy during frontal crash. In case of a tapered hat type section model, numerical simulation models and test models were designed with varing design variables; welding pitch, taper angle, initiator shape, initiator location. The effect of variation of the design variables was investigated by quasi-static and dynamic test and numerical simulation.
Presented increase and so on of switch stress and switching dissipation and EMI that is happened in general PWM converter and in this study to solve problem the resonance energy return to life rate and new active snubber PWM converter because do maximization. Active snubber PWM converter that try adds auxiliary switch and resonance capacitor, diode to existing converter under all switching conditions turn on/off Minimised switching dissipation that occur. Reduced harmonic components absorbing station recovery electric current that happen to snubber diode inserting diode and resistance. And decreased peak current that is happened in auxiliary switch arranging resonance capacitor and inductor properly, Certified effect that efficiency rises about 2.5[%] more than existent PWM converter in rated load through an experiment.
Natural convection and radiation heat transfer in a square enclosure containing absorbing, emitting, and isotopically scattering(participating) media is studied numerically using the finite volume method. Various numerical methods are employed to analyze the radiative heat transfer. However, it is very difficult to choose the proper method. In present study, a finite volume method(FVM) and a discrete ordinates method(DOM) are compared in rectangular enclosure. The SIMPLER algorithm is used to solve the momentum and energy equations. Thermal and flow characteristics are investigated according to the variation of radiation parameters such as optical thickness and scattering albedo. The result shows that the accuracy and the computing time of FVM are better than those of DOM in regular geometry.
In this study, the thermal neutron effects on optical fiber are examined theoretically. Also, the induced loss by thermal neutron irradiation in optical fibers is measured at the optical wavelengths of 0.85 and 1.3\ulcorner, respectively, and the results are analyzed. Thermal neutrons cause nuclear reaction with fiber compositions. So secondary ionizing radiations of high energy are generated. Color centers formed by these secondary ionizing rasiations increase transmission loss of optical fiber by absorbing propagating light in fiber core. As a result of experiment, owing to Ge, P, and B doping effects, the induced loss in multimode fibers has been 5 tmes larger than that in single mode fibers at 1.3 \ulcorner wavelengh. In case of multimode fibers, the loss at 0.8 \ulcorner wavelength region more suceptible for radiations has been twice higher than at 1.3\ulcorner.
Composite material has very excellent mechanical properties including tensile stress and specific strength. Especially impact loads may be expected in many of the engineering applications of it. The suitability of composite material for such applications is determined not only by the usual paramenters, but its impactor energy-absorbing properties. Composite material under impact load has poor mechanical behavior and so needs tailoring its structure. Genetic algorithms(GA) is probabilistic optimization technique by principle of natural genetics and natural selection and neural networks(NN) is useful for prediction operation on the basis of learned data. Therefore, This study presents optimization techniques on the basis of genetic algorithms and neural networks to minimum stiffness design of laminated composite material.
In the present paper, the wave absorbing performance of the fully submerged horizontal porous plates has been investigated, numerically and experimentally. The submerged porous system is composed of multi-layered horizontal porous plates that are clamped at the vertical setwall, which are slightly inclined and placed vertically, in parallel, with spacing. The hydrodynamic interaction of incident waves with the rigid porous multi-layered plates was formulated within the context of linear wave-body interaction theory and Darcy's law. In order to validate the effectiveness of the present computing code, the numerical results were compared with the analytical and experimental results. It is found that triple horizontal porous plates with slight inclination, if properly tuned for wave energy dissipation against the standing waves in front of the vertical wall, can have high performances in reducing the reflected wave amplitudes against the incident waves over a wide range of wave frequency.
The purpose of this research is to propose a system to detect a strip defect on a iron plate using an image processing, one way of finding defects on an iron plate. An existing way of image processing is using a light source which release a light energy in a certain frequency and a light absorbing display which responds to the light source. This research attempts to detect defects by using the image processing which handles an illumination, without depending on characteristics of light frequency. One of the advantages of this method is that it makes up for the weakness of the existing method which was too difficult for users to notice a defect. Also this method makes it possible to realize a real-time monitoring on a plate of iron.
This study is experimentally performed for using the oyster shell as a desiccant in the batch type system. The peltier element(thermoelectric device) is used for absorbing and releasing the adsorption and desorption heat generation. The cooling and heating effects of peltier element exist in this experiment and these effects are generally known phenomena among some references. The increase in electric current induced into peltier element is effectively release the heat generation of adsorption and desorption. Consequently, the non-dimensional adsorption and desorption amount would increase with increase in electric current. However, in the case of adsorption, the increase of induced current into peltier element, the heat of cold side can not release sufficiently. So the heat of hot side of peltier is transferred into the cold side.
In recent years, the piping vibration in many Power Plants is being increased by the aged generating facilities due to a long time use. Generally, the pressure fluctuations associated with the flow-induced excitations in this case are broadband in nature. Mainly, the dominant sources of vibration are a vortex-shedding, plane waves and boundary layer turbulence. The peak level of the spectrum is proportional to the dynamic head. A severe disturbance in pipeline results in the generation of intense broadband internal sound waves which can propagate through the piping system. The characteristic frequencies of operating loads of 20%, 57%, 70%, 100% are 4 - 6 Hz and coincide with the results from impact hammering test and FEM analysis. We chose the wire energy absorbing rope restraint as a vibration reduction method after reviewing the various conditions such as site, installing space and economic cost etc. After installation, the vibration level was reduced about 54% in velocity.
