Functional Amino Acids and Fatty Acids for Enhancing Production Performance of Sows and Piglets

  • The growth and health of the fetus and neonate are directly influenced by the nutritional and physiological status of sows. Sows are often under catabolic conditions due to restrict feeding program during pregnancy and low voluntary feed intake during lactation. The current restrict feeding program, which aims at controlling energy intake during gestation, results in an inadequate supply of dietary protein for fetal and mammary gland growth. Low voluntary feed intake during lactation also causes massive maternal tissue mobilization. Provision of amino acids and fatty acids with specific functions may enhance the performance of pregnant and lactating sows by modulating key metabolic pathways. These nutrients include arginine, branched-chain amino acids, glutamine, tryptophan, proline, conjugated linoleic acids, docosahexaenoic acid, and eicosapentaenoic acid, which can enhance conception rates, embryogenesis, blood flow, antioxidant activity, appetite, translation initiation for protein synthesis, immune cell proliferation, and intestinal development. The outcome is to improve sow reproductive performance as well as fetal and neonatal growth and health. Dietary supplementation with functional amino acids and fatty acids holds great promise in optimizing nutrition, health, and production performance of sows and piglets.   • Since the commencement of the fuel cell business in 2007, POSCO POWER has been the major supplier of the MCFC (Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell), which is the most commercialized stationary fuel cell system in the world. With its quite, yet active movement, more than 20MW MCFC systems have been installed and are operating in Korea. While trying to localize the components and set up a firm supply chain in Korea to provide more reliable and cost-competitive products to its customers, POSCO POWER is also devoting itself to developing new MCFC application products. One such product is a back-up power system, in which a back-up algorithm is embedded to the present system so that the product can work as a back-up generator in case of grid failure. The technology to enhance load following capability of a stack module is also being developed with the back-up algorithm. Another example is a building application, the goal being to make the present Sub-MW product suitable for urban area. For this, downsizing and modularization are the main R&D scope. The project for developing ship service fuel cell for APU application will launch soon as well. In the project, a system which can operate in marine environment, and reforming technology for liquid logistic fuel will be developed.

  • The company of 4 core materials that are needed for photovoltaic generation is located in area around this university in Gunsan, Saemangeum. And also, it was almost completed the value chain about the production of Polysilicon, Ingot, Wafer, modules and the design, construction of generation system. The industry-academy-government has understood that because of the relative companies' production and investment, it leads to a supply and demand of manpower and thus will have field centered manpower education. This program will help the problem of lack of manpower in relative companies by establishing competitive major agreement like vocational education system. Also, the university and the participating company in joint have pushed ahead field business education to make the least of industrial-education's mismatch, the training of professional manpower connected with related industries to make the universities chemical characteristics, companies securing excellent manpower and contributed to the revitalization of the regional economy. In this paper, are aware that photovoltaic industry is a future strategic industry for the country, so we will train the immediately site adapting manpower for the area of photovoltaic material and system as our goal. This is shown results of education operation for 4 years.

Global Corporate Citizenship: Cross-cultural Comparison of Best Practices in the Global Automotive Industry

  • The study aims to investigate corporate social responsibility (CSR) best practices of the world automotive industry - Peugeot, BMW, Ford, Hyundai and Toyota among others - and recommend that they plan their business strategies and managerial responses accordingly. Based on the comparative research and case studies, this research finds that all five automobile manufacturers have taken very similar measures and actions in order to establish and maintain a high level of CSR practices. Sustainability was a core value in all five companies and served as a guiding principle in every aspect and approach of their business. This study finds that all five companies have CSR strategies in place to increase energy efficiency as well as reduce the usage and wastage of water in their production and plants. This research also finds that all companies monitor their suppliers and their own production process to ensure that they maintain their CSR standards. More impressively, this sustainable management practice is transferred along the companies' supply chain through education and training. Their suppliers and business partners are closely monitored to make sure that their high CSR standards are respected and followed. However, we find that there also are some differences in terms of their CSR deliveries and activities.

빅데이터 연구동향 분석: 토픽 모델링을 중심으로 (Research Trends Analysis of Big Data: Focused on the Topic Modeling)

  • The objective of this study is to examine the trends in big data. Research abstracts were extracted from 4,019 articles, published between 1995 and 2018, on Web of Science and were analyzed using topic modeling and time series analysis. The 20 single-term topics that appeared most frequently were as follows: model, technology, algorithm, problem, performance, network, framework, analytics, management, process, value, user, knowledge, dataset, resource, service, cloud, storage, business, and health. The 20 multi-term topics were as follows: sense technology architecture (T10), decision system (T18), classification algorithm (T03), data analytics (T17), system performance (T09), data science (T06), distribution method (T20), service dataset (T19), network communication (T05), customer & business (T16), cloud computing (T02), health care (T14), smart city (T11), patient & disease (T04), privacy & security (T08), research design (T01), social media (T12), student & education (T13), energy consumption (T07), supply chain management (T15). The time series data indicated that the 40 single-term topics and multi-term topics were hot topics. This study provides suggestions for future research.

Edible Insects as a Protein Source: A Review of Public Perception, Processing Technology, and Research Trends

  • This review summarizes the current trends related to insect as food resources among consumers, industry, and academia. In Western societies, edible insects have a greater potential as animal feed than as human food because of cultural biases associated with harmful insects, although the abundant characteristics of edible insects should benefit human health. Nevertheless, many countries in Asia, Oceania, Africa, and Latin America utilize insects as a major protein source. Using insects can potentially solve problems related to the conventional food-supply chain, including global water, land, and energy deficits. Academic, industry, and government-led efforts have attempted to reduce negative perceptions of insects through developing palatable processing methods, as well as providing descriptions of health benefits and explaining the necessity of reducing reliance on other food sources. Our overview reveals that entomophagy is experiencing a steady increase worldwide, despite its unfamiliarity to the consumers influenced by Western eating habits.

Determining Behavioral Intention of Logistic and Distribution Firms to Use Electric Vehicles in Thailand

  • Purpose: Electric vehicle (EV) technology started in 2015 in Thailand. The Thai Government has indicated that 30% of all cars produced in Thailand by 2025 will be EVs. Using EVs in Thailand will reduce road pollution and increase energy efficiency, especially in major cities. Hence, the adoption of EVs in the country has been promoted. This study pointed out that social influence, facilitating conditions, perceived enjoyment, environmental concern, attitude, and perceived behavioral control are key factors affecting the behavioral intention to adopt EVs among logistic and distribution firms in Thailand. Research design, data, and methodology: 500 top management, middle management and purchasing managers of logistic and distribution firms in Thailand are surveyed. The study employed judgmental, convenience, and snowball sampling. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Model (SEM) are the main statistical tools for data analysis. Results: The results show that all determinants impact customers' willingness to adopt EVs, except perceived enjoyment and environmental control. Conclusions: The study proposes to promote the incentives by decreasing electricity prices and endorsing EVs purchase to accelerate the adoption of EVs in Thailand. Therefore, future policies should focus on behavioral intention toward EVs amongst logistic and distribution firms for enhancing the future of mobility in Thailand.

에너지 가격, 탱커운임지수, 불확실성 사이의 연계성 분석 (Analysis of connectedness Between Energy Price, Tanker Freight Index, and Uncertainty)

  • 기술발전(셰일가스, 셰일오일), 무역전쟁, COVID-19, 러시아-우크라이나 전쟁 등으로 인해 에너지 시장의 불확실성이 확대되고 있다. 특히, 2020년 이후 COVID-19, 러시아-우크라이나 전쟁의 영향으로 장기화된 수요 감소로 인한 상품 운송의 공급체인의 변화 등으로 인해 에너지 시장의 국제적 교역에 대한 위험이 크게 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 점을 고려하여 에너지 시장에서의 국제적 교역의 연계성을 파악하기 위해 에너지 가격, 탱커운임지수, 불확실성 사이의 연계성을 분석하였다. 주요 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, MS-VAR 모형을 이용하여 에너지 가격 모형의 안정기와 불안정기를 분석한 결과 원유시장 모형과 천연가스시장 모형 모두 불안정기에 비해 안정기가 유지될 확률이 더 높게 나타나 특정 사건에 의해 변동성이 확대된다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 에너지 시장의 안정기와 불안정기의 연계성 분석 결과를 살펴보면, 총 연계성의 경우 원유시장 모형과 천연가스시장 모형 모두 안정기에 비해 불안정기에 변수 간에 연계성이 확대된다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 에너지 시장의 안정기의 경우 연계성 정도를 고려했을 때, 수요측 요인을 대표하는 탱커 운임지수의 효과가 크다는 것을 확인하였다. 셋째, 에너지 시장의 불안정기는 원유시장 모형에 비해 천연가스 시장의 연계성이 급격하게 증가하는 것으로 보아 원유시장에 비해 에너지 가격에 영향을 미치는 불확실성이 확대되면 천연가스 시장의 변동성 전이 효과가 더 큰 것으로 나타났다.

Impact of livestock industry on climate change: Case Study in South Korea - A review

  • In recent years, there has been a growing argument attributing the primary cause of global climate change to livestock industry, which has led to the perception that the livestock industry is synonymous with greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. However, a closer examination of the global GHG emission by sector reveals that the energy sector is responsible for the majority, accounting for 76.2% of the total, while agriculture contributes 11.9%. According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the total GHG emissions associate with the livestock supply chain amount to 14.5%. Within this, emissions from direct sources, such as enteric fermentation and livestock manure treatment, which are not part of the front and rear industries, represent only 7%. Although it is true that the increase in meat consumption driven by global population growth and rising incomes, has contributed to higher methane (CH4) emissions resulting from enteric fermentation in ruminant animals, categorizing the livestock industry as the primary source of GHG emissions oversimplifies a complex issue and disregards objective data. Therefore, it may be a misleading to solely focus on the livestock sector without addressing the significant emissions from the energy sector, which is the largest contributor to GHG emissions. The top priority should be the objective and accurate measurement of GHG emissions, followed by the development and implementation of suitable reduction policies for each industrial sector with significant GHG emissions contributions.

탈착계류시스템 반잠수식 무어링 풀리의 구조강도평가법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Strength Evaluation Method of Submersible Mooring Pulleys for Detachable Mooring Systems)

  • Rapid progress is being made in foundational technology research and engineering for the construction of floating offshore wind farms. There is active development of technology for detachable mooring systems, which have strengths in addressing maintenance issues that arise in floating offshore wind farms and enhance their economic viability. Conventional detachable mooring systems use Kenter links inserted into the middle of mooring chains, which require excessive time for retrieval by Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels during detachment operations. Moreover, these operations pose risks of link damage and accidents. Therefore, there is a demand for the development of a new concept of detachable mooring systems. The proposed detachable mooring system in this study simultaneously integrates a fairlead chain stoppers (FCS) and submersible mooring pulleys (SMP), which enables all operations to be conducted on the AHTS vessel without underwater tasks. This study detailed the design and safety evaluation of the SMP, a core component of the detachable mooring system, based on the minimum breaking load (MBL) of selected mooring lines according to the capacity of the floating platform. It referenced international codes (AISC Specification for Structural Steel Buildings D5, Pin-Connected Members) for design verification and performed finite element analysis to evaluate the strength of major components in installation and operation scenarios. Additionally, procedures and techniques for evaluating the structural strength of components under uncertain boundary conditions were proposed.
