The cumulative deposition of Pu-238 and Pu-239,240 by the end of 1994 in undisturbed for the last 40 years, was determined at 9 sites in Korea. The cumulative deposition of Pu-238 and Pu-239 ranged from 0.76 to 3.77 and from 18.42 to 101.84 $Bqm^{-2}$, respectively. The mean values of the cumulative deposition of Pu-238 and Pu-239,240 were 2.16 and 54.75 $Bqm^{-2}$, respectively. These values are close to the value of worldwide fallout. No significant contribution to the cumulative deposition of Pu-238 and Pu-239,240 originating from the Chernobyl accident was found at my site.

The solid state cesium ion source os alumino-silicate based zeolite which contains cerium. The material is an ionic conductor. Cesiums are stably stored in the material and one can extract the cesiums by applying electric field across the electrolyte. Cesium ion bombardment has the unique property of producing high negative ion yield. This ion source is used as the primary source for the production of a negative ion without any gas discharge or the need for a carrier gas. The deposition of materials as an ionic species in the energy range of 1.0 to 300eV is recently recognized as a very promising new thin film technique. This energetic non-thermal equilibrium deposition process produces films by “Kinetic Bonding / Energetic Condensation" mechansim not governed by the common place thermo-mechanical reaction. Under these highly non-equilibrium conditions meta-stable materials are realized and the negative ion is considered to be an optimum paeticle or tool for the purpose. This process differs fundamentally from the conventional ion beam assisted deposition (IBAD) technique such that the ion beam energy transfer to the deposition process is directly coupled the process. Since cesium ion beam sputter deposition process is forming materials with high kinetic energy of metal ion beams, the process provider following unique advantages:(1) to synthesize non thermal-equilibrium materials, (2) to form materials at lower processing temperature than used for conventional chemical of physical vapor deposition, (3) to deposit very uniform, dense, and good adhesive films (4) to make higher doposition rate, (5) to control the ion flux and ion energy independently. Solid state cesium ion beam sputter deposition system has been developed. This source is capable of producing variety of metal ion beams such as C, Si, W, Ta, Mo, Al, Au, Ag, Cr etc. Using this deposition system, several researches have been performed. (1) To produce superior quality amorphous diamond films (2) to produce carbon nitirde hard coatings(Carbon nitride is a new material whose hardness is comparable to the diamond and also has a very high thermal stability.) (3) to produce cesiated amorphous diamond thin film coated Si surface exhibiting negative electron affinity characteristics. In this presentation, the principles of solid state cesium ion beam sputter deposition and several applications of negative metal ion source will be introduced.

TRISO coatings on $ZrO_{2}$ surrogate kernels were conducted by a fluidized-bed chemical vapor deposition (FBCVD) method. Effects of the deposition temperature and the gas flow rate on the properties of SiC layer were investigated in the TRISO-coated particles. Deposition rate of the SiC layer decreased as the deposition temperature increased in the temperature range of $1460^{\circ}-1550^{\circ}C$. At the deposition temperature of $1550^{\circ}C$ the SiC layer contained an excess carbon, whereas the SiC layers had stoichiometric compositions at $1460^{\circ}C\;and\;1500^{\circ}C$. Hardness and elastic modulus measured by a nanoindentation method were the highest in the SiC layer deposited at $1500^{\circ}C$. The SiC layer deposited at the gas flow rate of 4000 sccm exhibited a high porosity and contained large pores more than $1{\mu}m$, being due to a violent spouting of particles. On the other hand, the SiC layer deposited at 2500 sccm revealed the lowest porosity.

In this study, additive manufacturing technology was applied to restore a planner miller that was unusable due to aging. The drive spur gear of the planner miller was inoperable due to many defects in the teeth. The shape of the defective gear teeth was restored by deposition of the defective teeth using the DED method. However, as the location of the deposition head and the location of the set origin became farther, the deposition shape was different from the modeling shape. Nonetheless, since the modeling of the deposition part was designed to be larger than the tooth shape of the original gear, it was possible to completely restore all gear teeth through post-processing. The arrangement interval of the flow lines of the deposition part was narrower than that of the substrate. The hardness of the substrate was 172 HV, and that of the deposition part was 345 HV, which was twice as high as that of the substrate.
The objectives of this study are to investigate the effect of the concentration ratios of Ni and Fe ions on crud deposition onto the fuel cladding surface in the simulated primary environments of a pressurized water reactor. Crud deposition tests were conducted in the Ni and Fe concentration ratios of 20:20 ppm, 39:1 ppm and 1:39 ppm at $325^{\circ}C$ for 14 days. In the case of the same Ni and Fe ion ratio (20:20), nickel ferrite with a polyhedral shape was formed. Nickel oxide deposits with a needle shape were formed in the condition of high Ni to Fe ion ratio (39:1), While polyhedral iron oxide and needle-like nickel oxide formed in the condition of low Ni to Fe ion ratio (1:39). The amount of deposits increased, when Fe oxides were formed. This indicates that Fe rich oxides stimulated Ni oxide deposition.

The relationship between the tritium release rate from the nuclear power plant and tritium concentration in the environment around the Kori site was modeled. The tritium concentration in the atmosphere was calculated by multiplying the release rates and $\chi$/Q values, and the d3V deposition rate at each sector according to the direction and the distance was obtained using a dry deposition velocity. The area around Kori site was divided into 6 zones according to the deposition rate. The six zones were divided into 14 compartments for the numerical simulation. Transfer coefficients between the compartments were derived using site characterization data. Source terms were calculated from the dry deposition rates. Tritium concentration in surface soil water and groundwater was calculated based upon a compartment model. The semi-analytical solution of the compartment model was obtained with a computer program, AMBER. The results showed that most of tritium deposited onto the land released into the atmosphere and the sea. Also, the estimated concentration in the top soil agreed well to that measured. Using the model, tritium concentration was predicted in the case that the tritium release rates were doubled.
The loss of water in the carbon steel balls and water region of the end shield for CANDU 6 reactor could lead to significant temperature gradient through the end shield structure which amy result in the excessive deformation. With an assumed end shield drained scenario, the heat deposition rates were calculated through the end shield associated with the central fuel channel during full power operation as an initial step to thermal stress analysis. The drained case was compared with that of water present normal case in therms of heat deposition rater and the total heating throughout the end shield regions. The compared results show that the heat deposition and the total heating remain almost the same between the two cases. It was found that the change of volume integrated flux in the end shield regions due to the loss of water contribute a negligible effect on the heat deposition in this region.
The modification of metal surface by ion implantation with MEVVA ion implanter and thin film deposition with filtered vacuum arc plasma device is introduced in this paper. The combination of ion implantation and thin film deposition is proved as a better method to improve properties of metal surface.

Background: An important lesson learned from the Fukushima accident is that the transition to the mid- and long-term phases from the emergency-response phase requires less than a year, which is not very long. It is necessary to know how much radioactive material has been deposited in an urban area to establish mid- and long-term countermeasures after a radioactive accident. Therefore, an urban deposition model that can indicate the site-specific characteristics must be developed. Materials and Methods: In this study, the generalized urban deposition velocity and the subsequent variation in radionuclide contamination were estimated based on the characteristics of the Korean urban environment. Furthermore, the application of the obtained generalized deposition velocity in a hypothetical scenario was investigated. Results and Discussion: The generalized deposition velocities of 137Cs, 106Ru, and 131I for each residence type were obtained using three-dimensional (3D) modeling. For all residence types, the deposition velocities of 131I are greater than those of 106Ru and 137Cs. In addition, we calculated the generalized deposition velocities for each residential types. Iodine was the most deposited nuclide during initial deposition. However, the concentration of iodine in urban environment drastically decreases owing to its relatively shorter half-life than 106Ru and 137Cs. Furthermore, the amount of radioactive material deposited in nonresidential areas, especially in parks and schools, is more than that deposited in residential areas. Conclusion: In this study, the generalized urban deposition velocities and the subsequent deposition changes were estimated for the Korean urban environment. The 3D modeling was performed for each type of urban residential area, and the average deposition velocity was obtained and applied to a hypothetical accident. Based on the estimated deposition velocities, the decision-making systems can be improved for responding to radioactive contamination in urban areas. Furthermore, this study can be useful to predict the radiological dose in case of large-scale urban contamination and can support decision-making for long-term measurement after nuclear accident.

In this study, Directed energy deposition (DED) among additive manufacturing is applied to repair damaged spindle key parts of planner miller. The material of the spindle key is SCM415, and the P21 Powder is used. In order to find the optimal deposition conditions for DED equipment, a single-line deposition experiment is conducted to analysis five parameters. The laser power affects the width, and the height is a parameter affected by coaxial gas and powder gas. In addition, laser power, powder feed rate, coaxial gas, and powder gas are parameters that affect dilution. Otimal deposition is that 400 W of laser power, 4.0 g/min of powder feed rate, 6.5 L/min of coaxial gas, 3.0 L/min of powder gas and 4.5 L/min of shield gas. By setting the optimum conditions, a uniform deposition cross section in the form of an ellipse can be obtained. Damage recovery process of spindle key consists of 3D shape design of the base and deposition parts, deposition path creation and deposition process, and post-processing. The hardness of deposited area with P21 powder on the SCM415 spindle key is 336 HV for the surface of the deposition, 260 HV for the boundary area, and 165 HV for the base material.
