In this paper, the respective technologies that are able to considerably reduce the energy demands for heating, cooling, hot-water, lighting and ventilation among the variety of technologies were selected. Method: Design factors such as (1) External insulation, (2) Triple glazing window, (3) LED lighting, (4) External venetian blind, (5) Geothermal and (6) Heat recovery ventilator were derived. In addition, energy saving effects in terms of energy demand, energy consumption and energy cost were investigated using EnergyPlus, building energy analysis tool. Result : The results were as follows. (1) It can be seen that high insulated triple glazing window, heat recovery ventilator and external insulation technology is excellent for energy demand. (2) Unlike energy demand, saving effect of energy consumption and energy cost was shown in order of Geothermal > Triple Window > Heat recovery Ventilation> Insulation> LED Lighting > EVB Blind.
It has been recognized that implementing the marginal price mechanism to CBP is not acceptable due to the lack of revenue of the marginal generators. This study shows that it is not the problem of marginal price mechanism but the structural problems originated by the suspension of restructuring, the technical limits of RSC program and inaccuracy of the generation cost estimation method. This study explains the method to calculate the cost function in operating modes of the CC generators and proposes the modeling for the CC generators in RSC program. To implementing the cost function in operating modes could give an opportunity to change the price setting mechanism from average to marginal cost. The price setting mechanism based on the marginal cost will be one of the main points to provide the right price signals and to introduce a real-time and A/S markets to prepare the energy transition era.

Currently one of the most importance issues in industrial sector is energy cost and energy efficiency. The manufacturing plants especially have made many efforts to reduce energy cost by implementing maintenances. But in many cases, they are not aware that how much energy could be saved more. If we know the best energy consumption, which signifies energy baseline, we can control the intensity of maintenances. One way to obtain the baseline is using proper statistics from a specific plant, a sector of industry. Energy bandwidth signifies the gap between actual Specific Energy Consumption(SEC) of a certain plant and minimum SEC of the best plant, and estimate energy saving potential(ESP) is a result of bandwidth analysis. We chose a model plant and implemented some maintenance for a year, and then we obtained ESP. Additionally we could determine the decreased amount of carbon emissions from the plant using Carbon Emissions Factor(CEF) by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC).
In Korea ranking sixth out of The world's greenhouse gas emissions, all Korean public buildings have to implement obligatorily renewable energy systems for energy production to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from the energy consumed in operation, maintenance and management of buildings. The optimum combination and application rates for each energy source emerge from analyzing the trend of previous studies and the energy consumption is simulated by using a dynamic energy simulation program and the initial investment costs, the energy costs, the maintenance costs, the replacement costs emerge based on the calculated result. The result show that the total life cycle cost of 100% gerthermal is the lowest with \ 2,105,974,344 on the analysis results.
This study analyzes the economic efficiency of utilizing hot waste water at a thermoelectric power plant, which is part of recent projects supported by the Korean government to foster new energy industry. The author proposes an institution that provides economic incentives to promote the project. Based on a method of calculating Levelized cost of energy (LCOE), this study finds that the LCOE of using hot waste water at power plants is higher than that of oil boiler, biomass and a power plant's auxiliary steam but similar to that of the geothermal system. Also, according to sensitivity analysis on the LCOE of each element in the system of using hot waste water, a distance of heat supply is most sensitive. Therefore, this study shows that when the government devises an incentive-based institution to expand the project of utilizing hot waste water, it is necessary to establish Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) weights that are differentiated by a distance of heat supply.
The purpose of this study is to analyze effects of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reduction in district energy business mainly based on Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants. Firstly this paper compares the actual carbon intensity of power production between conventional power plants and district energy plants. To allocate the GHG from CHP plants, two of different methods which were Alternative Generation Method and Power Bonus Method, have been investigated. The carbon intensity of power production in district energy plants ($0.43tonCO_2e/MWh$) was relatively lower than conventional gas-fired power plants ($0.52tonCO_2e/MWh$). Secondly we assessed the cost effectiveness of reduction by district energy sector compared to the other means using TIMES model method. We find that GHG marginal abatement cost of 'expand CHP' scenario (-$134/ton$CO_2$) is even below than renewable energy scenario such as photovoltaic power generation ($87/ton$CO_2$). Finally the GHG emission reduction potential was reviewed on the projected GHG emission emitted when the same amount of energy produced in combination of conventional power plants and individual boilers as substitution of district energy. It showed there were 10.1~41.8% of GHG emission reduction potential in district energy compared to the combination of conventional power plants and individual boilers.
This study is about comparing coal thermal plant to LNG combined power plant in respect of environmental and economic cost analysis. In addition sensitive analysis of power cost and discount rate is conducted to compare the result of change in endogenous and exogenous variable. For environmental assessment, when they generate 10,669GWh yearly, coal thermal power plant emits sulfur oxides 959ton, nitrogen oxide 690ton, particulate matter 168ton and LNG combined power plant emits only nitrogen oxide 886ton respectively every year. Regarding economic cost analysis on both power plants during persisting period 30 years, coal thermal power plant is more cost effective 4,751 billion won than LNG combined taking in account the initial, operational, energy and environmental cost at 10,669GWh yearly in spite of only LNG combined power plant's energy cost higher than coal thermal. In case of sensitive analysis of power cost and discount rate, as 1% rise or drop in power cost, the total cost of coal thermal power plant increases or decreases 81 billion won and LNG combined 157 billion won up or down respectively. When discount rate 1% higher, the cost of coal thermal and LNG combined power plant decrease 498 billion won and 539 billion won for each. When discount rate 1% lower, the cost of both power plant increase 539 billion won and 837 billion won. With comparing each result of change in power cost and discount rate, as discount rate is weigher than power cost, which means most influential variable of power plan is discount rate one of exogenous variables not endogenous.

As a result of the Fukushima disaster and climate change due to excessive greenhouse gases, international energy affairs are currently focused on establishing safe and environment-friendly policies. To achieve this, Republic of Korea has established a plan for environment-friendly energy supplies. It is expected that policy enforcement will be accompanied by an increase in energy supply costs. An analysis of energy supply costs is necessary before the establishment of any national energy policy. This paper analyzes and compares the energy supply costs accompanying environmental and nuclear energy policies, based on the Korean National Energy Master Plan and the Basic Plan for Long-Term Electricity Supply and Demand, in order to understand the implications of these national energy policies.
Economic assessment of solar thermal power generation systems was carried out by calculating the levelized electricity cost. Four different commercial (or near commercial) solar thermal power systems (parabolic trough system, power tower system with saturated steam, power tower system with molten salts, and dish-stilting system) were considered for assessment. The assessment also included sensitivity analysis covering the effects of system capacity, direct normal insolation, and the system efficiency.

It is important issue to reduce the electric energy to save the operating cost of HVAC system. Even if electrical energy is the clean energy, it is difficult and takes high cost for storage of electricity. These cause the high peak load of electric energy for HVAC in summer season. In korea, government impose the electric charge with several grade for the purpose of cut-off the peak load of electricity. Government has a policy to support to design and install the heat/ice storage system using midnight electricity. In this study, analysis of cooling load and operating characteristics for ice storage system are performed. And, also economical efficiency is compared between ordinary charge system of electricity and midnight rate charge of electricity. The systematic and economical supports are needed for expansion of usage of energy saving equipments.
