The neutron capture cross section of $^{99}Tc$ has been measured relative to the $^{10}B$(n,g) standard cross section by the neutron time-of-flight(TOF) method in the energy range of 0.007 eV to 47keV using a 46-MeV electron linear accelerator(linac) at the Research Reactor Institute, Kyoto University(KURRI). In order to experimentally prove the result obtained, the supplementary cross section measurement has been made from 0.3 eV to 1 keV using the Kyoto University Lead slowing-down Spectrometer(KULS) coupling to the linac. The relative measurement by the TOF method has been normalized to the reference value(20.01 b) at 0.0253 eV and the KULS measurement to that by the TOF method. The existing experimental data and the evaluated capture cross sections in ENDF/B-VI, JENDL-3.2, and JEF-2.2 have been compared with the current measurements by the linac TOF and the KULS experiments. The energy dependency of the KULS data is close to that of the TOF data which are energy-broadened by the resolution function of the KULS.
To investigate the effects of the number of multiple-cycles and $SO_2$ concentration on $CO_2$ absorption characteristics by means of limestone, $CO_2$ capture capacity has been measured in a bubbling fluidized bed reactor (0.1m 1.D., 1.17m high). Danyang limestone was used as a $CO_2$ sorbent and the number of cycles $(\~10th\;cycle)$ and $SO_2$ concentrations (0, 2000, 4000 ppm) were considered as variables. The measured $CO_2$ capture capacity decreased as the number of cycles increased and it showed $50\%$ or initial value after 10 cycles. Moreover, $CO_2$ rapture capacity decreased with 501 concentrations. For three different $SO_2$ concentrations, the total CaO utilization was almost the same but $SO_2$ capture capacity increased and $CO_2$ capture capacity decreased as $SO_2$ concentration increased. These results suggest that $SO_2$ capture reaction is predominant over $CO_2$ capture reaction in the simultaneous $CO_2/SO_2$ capture conditions.
keV-neutron capture gamma-ray spectrum of $^{197}Au$(natural gold) sample have been measured in neutron energy range from 10 to 90 keV using the 3-MV pelletron accelerator of the Research Laboratory for Nuclear Reactors at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Pulsed keV neutrons were produced from the $^7Li(p,n)^7Be$ reaction by bombarding on the $^7Li$ target with the 1.5-ns bunched proton beam. The incident neutron spectrum on the Au sample was measured by a $^6Li$-glass scintillation detector and TOF method. Capture gamma-rays from Au sample were measured by anti-Compton NaI(TI) spectrometer. Five average neutron energy regions were selected to obtain the neutron capture spectrum. Several gamma-ray peaks in the spectrum were found in the present experiment.
This study developed a simple model to investigate effects of important operating parameters on performance of a bubbling-bed adsorber and regenerator system collecting $CO_2$ from flue gas. The chemical reaction rate was used with mean particles residence time of a reactor to determine the extent of conversion in both adsorber and regenerator reactors. Effects of process parameters - temperature, gas velocity, solid circulation rate, moisture content of feed gas - on $CO_2$ capture efficiency were investigated in a laboratory scale process. The $CO_2$ capture efficiency decreased with increasing temperature or gas velocity of the adsorber. However, it increased with increasing the moisture content of the flue gas or the regenerator temperature. The calculated $CO_2$ capture efficiency agreed to the measured value reasonably well. However the present model did not agree well to the effect of the solid circulation rate on $CO_2$ capture efficiency. Better understanding on contact efficiency between gas and particles was needed to interpret the effect properly.
Oxy-combustion with a circulating fluidized bed (Oxy-CFBC) technology has been paid attention to cope with the climate change and fuel supply problem. In addition, Oxy-CFBC technology as one of the methods for carbon dioxide capture is an eco-friendly that can reduce air pollutants, such as $SO_2$, NO and CO through a flue gas recirculation process. The newly developed $100kW_{th}$ pilot-scale Oxy-CFBC system used for this research has been continuously utilizing to investigate oxy-combustion characteristics for various fuels, coals and biomasses to verify the possibility of fuel diversification. The anthracite is known as a low reactivity fuel due to a lot of fixed carbon and ash. Therefore, this study aims not only to improve combustion efficiency of an anthracite, but also to capture carbon dioxide. As a result, compared to air-combustion of sub-bituminous coal, oxy-combustion of anthracite could improve 2% combustion efficiency and emissions of $SO_2$, CO and NO were reduced 15%, 60% and 99%, respectively. In addition, stable operating of Oxy-CFBC could capture above 94 vol.% $CO_2$.

Thermal amine scrubbing is the most advanced CO2 capture technique but its largescale application is hindered due to the large heat requirement during solvent regeneration step. The addition of a solid metal oxide catalysts can optimize the CO2 desorption rate and thus minimize the energy consumption. Herein, we evaluate the solvent regeneration performance of Monoethanolamine (MEA) and Diethanolamine (DEA) solvents without and with two metal oxide catalysts (TiO2 and V2O5) within a temperature range of 40-86℃. The solvent regeneration performance was evaluated in terms of CO2 desorption rate and overall amount of CO2 desorbed during the experiments. Both catalysts improved the solvent regeneration performance by desorbing greater amounts of CO2 with higher CO2 desorption rates at low temperature. Improvements of 86% and 50% in the CO2 desorption rate were made by the catalysts for MEA and DEA solvents, respectively. The total amount of the desorbed CO2 also improved by 17% and 13% from MEA and DEA solvents, respectively. The metal oxide catalyst-aided regeneration of amine solutions can be a new approach to minimize the heat requirement during solvent regeneration and thus can remove a primary shortfall of this technology.

At the carbon dioxide capture process using the aqueous amine solution, degradation of absorbents is main factor to reducing the process performance. Also, degradation mechanism of absorbent is important for understanding the environmental risk, route of degradation products, health risk etc. In this study, the degradation products of MEA were studied to clarify mechanism in thermal degradation process. The degradation products were analyzed using a $^1H$ NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) and $^{13}C$ NMR. The analysis methods used in this study provide guidelines that could be used to develop a degradation inhibitor of absorbent and a corrosion inhibitor.

Experiments were conducted to identify basic characteristics of $CO_2$ capture using a spray tower with a single nozzle. Results were evaluated in terms of $CO_2$ saturation which is the main determining factor of regeneration energy, and capture efficiency under various operating conditions. Changes in the capture efficiency under various conditions are well expressed as a monotone increasing function of the relative solvent $(NH_3):CO_2$ flow rate. Although changes in $CO_2$ saturation are also well described as a function of the $NH_3/CO_2$ flow rate ratio, these are expressed as a monotone decreasing function, in contrast with the increasing function of $CO_2$ efficiency. In recent research on the relationship between $CO_2$ saturation and capture efficiency, $CO_2$ saturation was found to decrease when capture efficiency increased. In conclusion, the results show that the amount of solvent used for achieving high capture efficiencies is excessive, as is the amount of regeneration energy needed.
