  • This paper proposes the components of the energy management system (EMS) for optimum operation of renewable energy and associated energy storage system (ESS), the functions to be considered in designing, the analysis of operational effects, and finally the reduction of electricity costs. To accomplish the objectives, a lithium-ion battery system and an energy management system have installed in a PV system, and it presents the results analyzed with operation data for a year. To increase the system operation efficiency, we propose the effect that EMS is used to replace the demand power at the peak time with the charge power at the light load time, which suggests the influence of contributing to the charge benefit and load leveling according to the ESS tariff.

  • Recently, the cooling water of power plant was included in RPS(Renewable Portpolio Standard) as water heat energy. Thus the trend of cooling water application is growing bigger for agriculture and fishing industry. Especially as energy consumption cost in agriculture and fishing industry is a vital element, the interests for energy efficiency is growing bigger. The advanced agriculture country like Netherlands is distributing diagnosis software to the farmers based on ICT diagnostic system for the efficient energy consumption and energy demand amounts depend on crops of cultivation in automated horticulture. Hereafter, in the preparation of the expansion of the automated agriculture domestically by the cooling water of power plant, we would like to propose the energy application case(Greenery) in the advanced countries abroad in agriculture and EMS system about the application of the cooling water in power plant.

  • This paper aims to identify and clarify the cyber security risks and their interaction with the power system in Smart Grid. The EMS and other communication networks interact with the power system on a real time basis, so it is important to understand the interaction between two layers to protect the power system from potential cyber threats. In this study, the optimal power flow(OPF) and Power Flow Tracing are used to assess the interaction between the EMS and the power system. Through OPF and Power Flow Tracing based analysis, the physical and economic impacts from potential cyber threats are assessed, and thereby the quantitative risks are measured in a monetary unit.

  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa EMS1, isolated from activated sludge, was able to grow an produce a biosurfactant on 4.5 % soybean oil, used as the source of energy and carbon. Pseudomonas aeruginosa EMS1 was cultivated at 3$0^{\circ}C$ in a reciprocal shaking incubator, and the highest biosurfactant production was observed after 3 days. Furthermore, Pseudomonas aeruginosa EMS1 was also able to use whey as a co-substrate for biosurfactant production and growth

  • Korea has excellent IT capability. Adding Information Technology to KPX's experience of Power system operation, KPX is developing KEMS(Korea EMS) through cooperation between industry and the academic world. Monitoring EMS's essential elements is necessary for the EMS functions which are managing massive realtime data. This paper describes the most important and advanced structure of the TRMS(Total Resource Management System) in the process of developing KEMS(Korean Energy Management System).

  • Fire service personnel and ambulance paramedics suffer musculoskeletal disorders as they lift and carry patients while performing Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The objective of the current study was performed to examine the association between working environment and musculoskeletal disorders of 119 paramedics and to analysis the EMS activities for them through basic survey (including task characteristics, risk factors, symptoms and illnesses). Observational job analysis of EMS activities indicated the squatting posture during first-aid performed on floor and the abrupt use of force during carrying heavy load including stretcher with patients on as hazard factors, and excessive low back twisting and bending during stairway transfer was observed. In addition, work-physiological assessment revealed various but rather high lumbar muscle usage rate among the study subjects, being 14.6~32.8% compared with Maximum Voluntary Contraction (MVC) during patients transfer work. Resting heart rate showed 65/min, on the other hand, heart rate on mobilization indicated maximum 124~156/min. Therefore, the results of analysis to the EMS activities, rescuer activities and medical tasks were accompanied with high possibility of accident and musculoskeletal disorders. Also, EMS activities indicated high muscle fatigue and energy consumption, and accumulated muscle fatigue with during continued work.

  • This paper summarizes a data modeling for developing the baseline network analysis software of the Korean energy management system (EMS). The study is concentrated on the following aspects. First, the data for operating the each application software are extracted. Some of the EMS network application softwares are selected for basis model. Those are based on the logical functions of each software and are not considered the other softwares. Second, the common data are extracted for equipment model and topological structure of power system in Korea. We propose the application common model(ACM) that can be applied whole EMS network application softwares. The ACM model includes the hierarchy and non-hierarchy power system structure, and is connected each other using the direct and indirect link. Proposed database model is tested using the Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO) system. The real time SCADA data are provided for the test. Through the test, we verified that the proposed database structure can be effectively used to accomplish the Korean EMS system.
