  • The development of wireless sensor networks (WSN) can be motivated by several types of applications. However, these applications demand an energy-efficient WSN that can prolong the network lifetime and can provide high throughput, low latency and delay. Designing wireless sensor networks with the capability of prolonging network lifetime catch the attention of many researchers in wireless system and network field. Contrasts with Mobile Ad Hoc Network system, Wireless Sensor Networks designs focused more on survivability of each node in the network instead of maximizing data throughput or minimizing end-to-end delay. In this paper, we will study part of data link layer in Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, called medium access control (MAC) layer. Since the MAC development of energy aware MAC Protocol for wireless sensor layer controls the physical radio part, it has a large impact on the overall energy consumption and the lifetime of a node. This paper proposes a analytical approach that tries to reduce idle energy consumption, and shows the increasement of network end-to-end arrival rate due to efficiency in energy consumption from time slot management.

  • In this paper, a dynamic priority-based QoS (DPQoS) provision scheme is proposed for the required QoS from one end of the network to the other in wireless mobile networks. The DPQoS model is used to meet diversity multimedia traffic requirements. This model is come up with a framework for the wireless network of which consists of a core-IP network and also a number of wireless access networks. For the true end-to-end QoS, it is required that the core network is able to support the required QoS for the wireless users. This paper shows a solution to optimize the performance for different traffic classes according to the traffic characteristics. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated at delay aspects such as delay and throughput.

  • In this study, the rise throughput and the stability in fabrication of device can be obtained by applying of CMP process to STI structure in 0.l8um semiconductor device. Through reverse moat pattern process, reduced moat density at high moat density, STI CMP process with low selectivity could be to fit polish uniformity between low moat density and high moat density. Because this reason, in-situ motor current end point detection method is not fit to the current EPD technology with the reverse moat pattern. But we use HSS without reverse moat pattern on STI CMP and take end point current sensing signal.[1] To analyze sensing signal and test extracted signal, we can to adjust wafer difference within $110{\AA}$.

  • An Ethernet PON(Passive Optical Network) is an economical and efficient access network that has received significant research attention in recent years. A MAC(Media Access Control) protocol of PON , the next generation access network, is based on TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access) basically and can classify this protocol into a fixed length slot assignment method suitable for leased line supporting QoS(Quality of Service) and a variable length slot assignment method suitable for LAN/MAN with the best effort. For analyzing the performance of these protocols, we design an Ethernet PON model using OPNET tool. To establish the maximum efficiency of a network, we verify a MAC protocol and determine the optimal number of ONUs(Optical Network Unit) that can be accepted by one OLT(Optical Line Terminal) and propose the suitable buffer size of ONU based on analyzing the end-to-end Ethernet delay, queuing delay, throughput, and utilization.

  • If a certain relay node in multi-hop wireless networks might become a malicious node that does not cooperate with other nodes or a selfish node, network throughput will be dramatically decreased. Most of existing ad hoc routing protocols assuming that the nodes will fully cooperate with other nodes do not resolve the problem of network performance degradation due to malicious and selfish nodes. This paper presents the CARE (Cooperative Ad hoc routing protocol based REputation) scheme incorporating the reputation management that can achieve a multi-hop wireless network with high throughput performance. The proposed scheme provides the horizontal cross-layer approach which can identify misbehaving malicious, selfish nodes dropped out of the hop-by-hop based packet processing in the network and then set up an optimal packet routing path that will detour misbehaving nodes. And the vertical cross-layer approach contained in the CARE scheme attempts to improve the quality of routing paths by exploiting the quality of link information received from the MAC layer. Besides, it provides high TCP throughput by exploiting the reputation values of nodes acquired from the network layer into the transport layer. A case study on experiments and simulations shows that the CARE scheme incorporating vertical and horizontal cross-layer approaches yields better performance in terms of the low rate of packet loss, fast average packet delivery time, and high TCP throughput between end-to-end nodes.

  • This paper proposes a flow-based admission control algorithm through an Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) based Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network for multiple service class environments of Integrated Service (IntServ) and Differentiated Service (DiffServ). We propose the Integrated Packet Scheduler to accommodate IntServ and Best Effort traffic through the DiffServ-aware MPLS core network. The numerical results of the proposed algorithm achieve reliable delay-bounded Quality of Service (QoS) performance and reduce the blocking probability of high priority service in the DiffServ model. We show the performance behaviors of IntServ traffic negotiated by end users when their packets are delivered through the DiffServ-aware MPLS core network. We also show that ATM shortcut connections are well tuned with guaranteed QoS service. We validate the proposed method by numerical analysis of its performance in such areas as throughput, end-to-end delay and path utilization.

  • TCP, which was developed on the basis of wired links, supposes that packet losses are caused by network congestion. In a wireless network, however, packet losses due to data corruption occur frequently. Since TCP does not distinguish loss types, it applies its congestion control mechanism to non-congestion losses as well as congestion losses. As a result, the throughput of TCP is degraded. To solve this problem of TCP over wireless links, previous researches, such as split-connection and end-to-end schemes, tried to distinguish the loss types and applied the congestion control to only congestion losses; yet they do nothing for non-congestion losses. We propose a novel transport protocol for wireless networks. The protocol called VS-TCP (Variable Segment size Transmission Control Protocol) has a reaction mechanism for a non-congestion loss. VS-TCP varies a segment size according to a non-congestion loss rate, and therefore enhances the performance. If packet losses due to data corruption occur frequently, VS-TCP decreases a segment size in order to reduce both the retransmission overhead and packet corruption probability. If packets are rarely lost, it increases the size so as to lower the header overhead. Via simulations, we compared VS-TCP and other schemes. Our results show that the segment-size variation mechanism of VS-TCP achieves a substantial performance enhancement.

  • Network coding is that the nodes can combine and mix the packets rather than merely forward them. Therefore, network coding is expected to improve throughput and channel efficiency in the wireless network. Relevant researches have been carried out to adapt network coding to wireless multi-hop network. In this paper, we designed the network coding for bidirectional traffic service in routing layer and IP layer of Ad-hoc network. From the simulation result, the traffic load and the end to end distance effect the performance of the network coding. As end to end distance and the traffic load become larger, the gain of network coding become more increased.

  • In this paper, WiMedia Distributed-MAC protocol is adopted for development of multi-hop N-screen wireless services. Furthermore, to provide the multi-hop OSMU (One Source Multi Use) N-screen service through P2P streaming in the D-MAC protocol, a new multi-hop resource reservation scheme is proposed and analyzed to reduce end to end delay. For this Multi-hop resource reservation scheme, a new MSCDRP (Multi-Stage Cooperative DRP) IE is proposed. Simulation results show that our multi-hop MSCDRP scheme reduces the end to end delay and increases throughput at various multi-hop N-screen network environment.

  • In this paper, we addressed the problem of upstream bandwidth in EPONs. We presented a wavelength division EPON supporting QoS in the differentiated services framework. It was shown that the bandwidth allocation by priority scheduling, under our assumptions for traffic behavior, will result in an unexpected behavior for high priority class and we suggested the use of weighted priority scheduling to alleviate this problem. Our wavelength division EPON supporting QoS allocates effectively and fairly bandwidths and wavelengths between ONUs in the differentiated services framework. Moreover, we showed better performance in terms of average and maximum end-to-end delay, as well as network throughput, utilization compared with some other algorithms. We used simulation experiments to study the performance and validate the effectiveness of the proposed network and algorithm.
