  • Recently the industry high-speed machining has been applied to the automotive, aircraft, electronics parts machining because the effect of cost savings, machining time reduction and productivity improvement. In this study recently the aircraft structural aluminum alloy 7075 used in cutting the ball end-mill on the surface roughness terms most affect the parameters of the spindle speed and feed rate on the surface roughness of the work-piece according to the cutting depth is to investigate. Cutting depth at 0.3 mm has the lowest surface roughness.

  • Even in a fully automated factory, many deburring operations are carried out manually . To remove or minimize the burreffectively or automatically, understanding of the burr formation which occur at the exit stage of machining is necessary. Burrs can be formed on the feed mark ridges an the edges of the machined parts in machining operations. These burrs are underirable in terms of the surface quality, the precise dimensioning of the machined parts and the safety of operators. This paper demonstrates the effectiveness of using end mill tool on minimizing the exit burr formation in machining . In particular, the experimental relationships between the size of exit burr and the cutting parameters are established in end mill machining . Methods to control the size of exit burr are then explained.

  • Nonlinear analysis of various phenomena has been developed with improvement of computer. The characteristics form nonlinear analysis are available in monitoring and diagnosis state of system. There are many nonlinear property in cutting process, but nonlinear signals have been considered as noise. In this study, nonlinear analysis technique is applied and it will be verified that cutting force is chaos by calculating Lyapunov exponents, fractal dimension and embedding dimension. The relation between characteristic parameter calculated form sensor signal and various cutting condition is investigated.

  • In the metal cutting, machining accuracies had affected by tool deflection that had been generated by acting cutting force on the cutting edges. Generally, the CAD/CAM and a solid modeler had used for the simulation of cutting process only. Some NC codes for metal cutting have been generated by these simulation results. But, machining errors that had generated by the tool deflection has not solved using these system. In this study, determination algorithm for integration zone has been studied using the commercial solid modeler. The tool deflection error has calculated by the integration zone between the small chip and the cutting edges.

  • Due to the high feed rate, high speed machining (HSM) provide a great potential of rationalization for the machining Dies and Moulds. But determination of cutting condition is very difficult, because cutting mechanism of high speed machining is very complicated, especially using ball end-mill. This paoer gives a report on selection of the optimal cutting condition to improve the machining efficiency, And optimal machining condition is determined through the cutting force, FFT analysis of cutting force and surface roughness according to the cutting condition. Based on this experiment result, wear process and machining characteristics are evaluated.

  • In this research KP-4, one of the plastic mold steels, was coated with the AlTiN from one layer to four layers by the PVD method in the $\Phi$ cemented carbide ball end mill. Coated KP-4 was processed with various conditions. For example, slope of $15^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$ the spindle rotation speed was changed from 10,000rpm to 16,000rpm, the tool feeding speed was changed from 1,300mm/min to 1,700mm/min, the depth of cut was also changed from 0.3mm to 0.9mm, and etc. Cutting component force according to the coating layer number, surface roughness, and the wear of tool were studied.

  • The high speed machining center(HMC) has been widely applied to manufacture a die and trial product in many machine industry. Because the evaluation fer the HMC is not sufficiently performed and the efficient cutting conditions aren't selected, a great loss has been caused in the cost aspect. In this study, the need of preliminary running time and unstable spindle speed is presented from the analysis of acceleration in idling. The Machinability fur the TiAlN coated flat end mill and STD11( $H_{R}$C60) is evaluated from the trends of tool wear and cutting force according to cutting conditions and slenderness ratio and a low response of tool dynamometer in high speed is proved. The resonance spindle speed is identified through the tool wear and natural frequency test.t.

  • In the present investigation, the improvement of processing efficiency in the high speed machining of GC250 is explored. This study is to evaluate the tool performance in difficult-to-material using the new developed tool. Tool performance evaluation are conducted by tool wear, surface roughness, chattering in machined surface. The tool wear of A type was smaller than B type. In type B tool the chatter mark was observed in machined surface. The good surface roughness was obtained in type A tool. Consequently, the tool performance of A type is better than B type.

  • A method for form error prediction in side wall machining with a flat end mill is suggested. Form error is predicted directly from the tool deflection without surface generation by cutting edge locus with time simulation. Developed model can predict the surface form error about three hundred times faster than the previous method. Cutting forces and tool deflection are calculated considering tool geometry, tool setting error and machine tool stiffness. The characteristics and the difference of generated surface shape in up milling and down milling are discussed. The usefulness of the presented method is verified from a set of experiments under various cutting conditions generally used in die and mold manufacturing. This study contributes to real time surface shape estimation and cutting process planning for the improvement of form accuracy.
