단부 경계조건을 고려한 매설관의 동적응답 해석 (I) (Analysis of Seismic Response of the Buried Pipeline with Pipe End Conditions (I))

  • This work reports results of our study on the dynamic responses of the buried pipelines both along the axial and the transverse directions under various boundary end conditions. We have considered three cases, i.e., the free ends, the fixed ends, and the fixed-free ends. We have studied the seismic responses of the buried pipelines with the various boundary end conditions both along the axial and the transverse direction. We have considered three cases, i.e., the free ends, the fixed ends, and the fixed-free ends for the axial direction, and three more cases including the guided ends, the simply supported ends, and the supported-guided ends for the transverse direction. The buried pipelines are modeled as beams on elastic foundation while the seismic waves as a ground displacement in the form of a sinusoidal wave. The natural frequency and its mode, and the effect of parameters have been interpreted in terms of free vibration. The natural frequency varies most significantly by the soil stiffness and the length of the buried pipelines in the case of free vibration, which increases with increasing soil stiffness and decreases with increasing length of the buried pipeline. Such a behavior appears most prominently along the axial rather than the transverse direction of the buried pipelines. The resulting frequencies and the mode shapes obtained from the free vibration for the various boundary end conditions of the pipelines have been utilized to derive the mathematical formulae for the displacements and the strains along the axial direction, and the displacements and the bending strains along the transverse direction in case of the forced vibration. The negligibly small difference of 6.2% between our result and that of Ogawa et. al. (2001) for the axial strain with a one second period confirms the accuracy of our approach in this study.

유한 원통셸의 큰 끝단 종진동을 발생시키는 감쇠파에 대한 분석 연구 (Study on Analysis of Evanescent Waves Generating the Strong End Axial Vibration of a Finite Cylindrical Shell)

  • 진동하는 원통셸에서는 파동의 크기를 유지하며 전파하는 진행파 (굽힘파, 종파, 전단파)와 전파함에 따라서 파동의 크기가 지수 함수적으로 급격히 감쇠하며 소멸되어가는 감쇠파가 발생한다. 감쇠파의 영향은 일반적으로 가진 지점 혹은 구조물의 끝단 지점 부근에 국한되어 작게 발생되게 된다. 그러나 원통셸의 경우 상당히 큰 감쇠파가 발생할 수 있으며, 이러한 감쇠파로 인하여 종진동이 끝단 부근에서 상당히 크게 발생하는 현상이 일어날 수 있다. 이러한 현상은 저자의 유한 원통셸의 종진동 측정 실험 논문에서 관찰되었으며, 본 논문에서는 이러한 큰 감쇠파에 의한 원통셸의 끝단 종진동 현상을 해석적으로 분석하였다. 원통셸의 진동해석을 위하여서는 파동 전파 방법을 활용하였으며, 해석 결과를 실험 결과와 비교함으로써 진동하는 원통셸의 끝단에서 모드 변환 (굽힘파와 감쇠파간의 변환)에 의하여 상당히 큰 감쇠파가 발생할 수 있음을 보였다. 또한 감쇠파의 영향은 원통셸 끝단의 큰 종진동을 발생시키며, 원통셸 전체 길이의 1/3 지점까지도 영향을 줄 수 있음을 보였다.

엔드밀링 채터 안정성 개선을 위한 시뮬레이션 (A study on the simulation for chatter vibration stability improvement of end milling process)

  • 엔드밀링 공정은 3차원 형상의 다양한 부품, 제품, 금형을 가공하는데 널리 사용되고 있는 핵심 가공 프로세스이다. 가공정밀도 요구수준과 가공형상 난이도 수준이 날로 높아짐에 따라 가공정밀도 요구특성의 지속적인 향상에도 불구하고, 공작기계와 절삭공구를 이용한 절삭가공공정에서의 채터 진동은 아직도 개선의 여지가 많이 남아있다. 특히, 더욱 고속화, 고정밀화 되고 있는 가공현장에서 채터진동의 효과적인 감소대책에 대한 다양한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 엔드밀링공정에서 발생하기 쉬운 채터진동의 안정성을 향상시키기 위해 절삭모델에 근거한 채터진동 안정성 시뮬레이션 방법론을 연구하고, 엔드밀링 절삭조건이 채터진동에 미치는 영향을 다양한 조건하에서 예측하고자 하였다. 본 연구결과를 더욱 발전시켜 채터진동과의 상관성을 연구하고, 향후 채터진동 저감형 가공시스템 개발을 위한 근간 기술자료로 활용코자 한다.

Tooth modification of helical gears for minimization of vibration and noise

  • Vibration and noise of gears is doc to the transmission error and the vibration exciting force caused by the periodically alternating tooth stiffness. Transmission error is the rotation delay between driving and driven gear caused by manufacturing error, alignment error in assembly and so on. Tooth stiffness changes with the proceeding mesh of teeth. The purpose of this study is to develop how to calculate simultaneously the optimum amounts of tooth profile modification. end relief and crowning by minimizing the vibration exciting force of helical gears. We estimate the vibration exciting force by the meshing analysis of gears. Formulated constraints of this problem consist of contact ratio and strengths of gear teeth such as tooth bending strength, surface durability, and scoring. ADS(Automated Design Synthesis) is used as an optimization tool. We also investigate the relation between the aspect ratio and the optimum values of tooth modification. The proposed method can calculate the optimum amount of tooth modification automatically and is expected to be practically useful to resolve the problem of vibration of helical gears.

  • The vibration and noise of gears is due to the vibration exciting force caused by the tooth stiffness which changes periodically as the mesh of teeth proceeds and by the transmission error, that is, the rotation delay between driving gear and driven gear caused by manufacturing error and alignment error in assembly and so on. The purpose of this study is to develop how to calculate simultaneously the optimum amounts of tooth profile modification, end relief and crowning by minimizing the vibration exciting force of helical gears. We estimate the vibration exciting force by the mesh analysis of gears.   • The vertical extension of a building in general remodeling process increases both gravity and seismic loads by simply adding masses to the building. In this study, a vertical extension structural module (VESM) is proposed for enhancing seismic performance of the existing buildings by utilizing the story-increased parts. The proposed VESM is composed of steel column, steel beam, and beam-end rotational damper. The steel columns are connected to the shear walls and transfer the wall rotation in out-of plane to the steel beam, and then the beam-end rotational damper dissipates the earthquake-induced energy. Numerical analysis result from a cantilever beam of which end-rotation is restricted by rotational damper indicates that the displacement, base shear, and base overturning moment of the existing structures showing cantilever behavior can be significantly reduced by using the proposed method. Also, it is observed that friction-type rotational damper is effective than viscous one.

  • This paper is concerned with the development of the vibration isolation system using piezoelectric actuators and sensors. The active vibration absorber system consists of 4 pairs of PZT actuators bonded on aluminum plates making s- shaped device. Hence, the active system is directly connected to the passive system. The rubber attached to the end of the beam is connected to the upper base as a structural member. It allows bending thus maximizing the vertical movement generated by the piezoceramic actuators.   • Some bogie frames manufactured in 1999, 2000 year have the fatal problem. Three or four years later, the cracked end beam among them have discovered in 2002, 2003 year. The crack situation of the end beam have a bad effect on brake system. In that case, the cars would be in danger of derailment. To improve the end beam, a research of covering the whole field of welded type bogie frame was started. Main line real tests were performed at Young-Dong line. The stress of main positions for bogie frame was measured. Also up-down direction and left-right direction vibration acceleration of the bogie frame were measured. At this time the tests were performed for the three types bogie. The test result concludes that the crack cause of the end beam is not brake load but vibration at running mainly. It is estimated that the life of the improved car which end beam reinforced is safe within the car permitted life(25 years). The improvement methods of the end beam are presented by construction modification, parts modification. The integrity evaluation is inspected by analysis the real line test results, the improvement methods of the end beam.

  • The tip of the flexible robot arm has to be controlled by the active control reducing vibration because it has residual vibration after getting to desired position. This paper presents an end-point position control of a 1-link flexible robot arm having tip mass by the PID control algorithm. The system is composed of a flexible arm with tip mass, dc servomotor and ballscrew mechanism under translational motion. The feedback signal composed of the tip displacement measured by laser sensor, estimated velocity and acceleration is used to control the base motion. Theoretical results are obtained by applying the Laplace transform and the numerical inversion method to the governing equations. After the flexible robot arm reaches to. the desired position, the residual vibration is controlled by the PID algorithm. This paper gives the simulation and experimental results of end-point responses according to changing tip-mass and arm length. And this algorithm shows good effects of reducing the residual vibration. Approximately, theoretical response is in good agreement with experimental one.

각종 매설관의 강제진동거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Forced Vibration Responses of Various Buried Pipelines)

  • Dynamic response of buried pipelines both in the axial and the transverse directions on concrete pipe and steel pipe, FRP pipe were investigated through a forced vibration analysis. The dynamic behavior of the buried pipelines for the forced vibration is found to exhibit two different forms, a transient response and a steady state response, depending on the time before and after the transfer of a seismic wave on the end of the buried pipeline. The former is identified by a slight change in its behavior before the sinusoidal-shaped seismic wave travels along the whole length of the pipeline whereas the latter by the complete form of a sinusoidal wave when the wave travels throughout the pipeline. The transient response becomes insignificant as the wave speed increases. From the results of the dynamic responses at the many points of the pipeline, we have found that the responses appeared to be dependent critically on the boundary end conditions. Such effects are found to be most prominent especially for the maximum values of the displacement and the strain and its position.
