Using the Korean Survey of Household Finances and Living Conditions panel data from 2012~2016, this study analyzed youth (19~34 years) poverty and employment and examined the factors that affect employment status. The analysis revealed an increase in the proportion of young people who are students or jobless; the economic conditions of the young people varied by factors such as marital status, education, job status, and loans; and the government public transfer policy had little impact on reducing the relative poverty rate of the youth. We also examined the factors affecting the youth's employment status and the risk of being employed in low-paid jobs, using multi-logit and logit regression model respectively. Considering employment status, the older and more educated the youth were, the less frequently they were employed in temporary or daily jobs instead of regular ones, but there was no difference between genders in terms of having temporary or daily jobs. A logit analysis on the determinants of low-paid jobs demonstrated that women, the less educated, spouses or children of the household, and temporary or daily workers have a greater probability of working at low-paid jobs. As women became older, their risk of having low-paid jobs increased, which demonstrated the phenomenon of "lock-in" at low-paid jobs. Temporary or daily workers of all age groups faced a higher risk of lowpaid employment, which stood out for the youth. Based on these results, we suggest that government employment and welfare policies should consider individual characteristics of the youth and their life cycle, along with efforts to supply decent jobs, continuously and stably.
The relations of mothers' attitudes regarding maternal employment to mothers' psychological well-being, mothers' parenting sensitivity and children's social competence were examined for mothers who worked full-time (extensively) from age 6 months of their children on, mothers who were not employed, and mothers who worked part-time or inconsistently during their children's early years. Longitudinal observations of 1,034 mothers and children in the NICHD Study of Early Child Care from age one month to first grade were analyzed using structural equation models. As predicted, mothers and children benefited when maternal attitudes were consistent with mother's actual employment status. Among extensively employed mothers, those with positive attitudes about employment had better psychological well-being; among mothers who were not employed, those who believed that maternal employment would have negative consequences for children's development reported better psychological well-being. The findings suggested that whether the mother's status of employment is congruent with their beliefs, not whether the mother is working or not, predicted the mother's well-being and their child's social development.
Objectives : The aim of this study was to identify the effect of employment type on health-related quality of life. Methods : This study used data from the Sixth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Data were analyzed with the ${\chi}^2$ test, t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression. Results : There were significant statistical differences the health-related quality of life according to employment type. The health-related quality of life of temporary workers was lower than that of regular workers. The significant predictors of the health-related quality of life of regular workers were the subjective health status, stress, age, and education. The significant predictors of the health-related quality of life of temporary workers were the subjective health status, education, stress, sleeping time, and gender. Conclusions : These results suggest that employment type affects the health-related quality of life. The research on social policy is recommended to resolve health inequalities.

In this paper, we examine factors of success in online P2P (peer-to-peer) lending auctions. This paper finds the following empirical results. First, loan applicants with a stable employment status are more likely to succeed in the auction than loan applicants with an unstable employment status. Second, loan applicants, who actively share personal information and interact with lenders through online message boards, are likely to succeed in the auction. Third, the purpose of a loan for debt repayment has a significant impact on the success of the auction. However, the purpose of a loan for essential living expenses such as housing, living, and medical expenses has an insignificant relationship with the success of the auction. Our results imply that the characteristics of loan applicants such as employment status and social interaction are the factors of success in online P2P lending auctions.

The results of this study can be attributed to develop the efficient strategy of reducing perceived time pressure of marraged women.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of authentic parental competence and awareness of early childhood educational community on the life satisfaction of mothers with preschoolers depending on mothers' employment status. Methods: A total of 238 mothers (98 employed, 130 unemployed) whose children were attending early childhood institutes participated in a survey measuring three variables. Results and Conclusion: The findings of the study were as follows: First, there were positive correlations between authentic parental competence, awareness of early childhood educational community, and life satisfaction, regardless of employment status. Second, comparing employed mothers with unemployed mothers, a common variable affecting life satisfaction was social competence, a sub-variable of authentic parental competence. Further, self-system competence, a sub-factor of authentic parental competence, influenced life satisfaction for employed mothers, and sharing core values, a sub-variable of awareness of the early childhood educational community, influenced life satisfaction for unemployed mothers.
The purpose of this study was to suggest some ways to utilize effectively the labor forces of employed women. For this purpose, this stud\ulcorner examined the family’s attitudes toward the work of married women and the effects of determinants including personal characteristics, household related variables, work related variables and family’s attitudes toward the work of married women on the employment status of married women. KLFI(1995)’s National data were used and one Logistic model and one Calmed model were employed to analyze the efficients of the independent variables. The resets of this study were as follows. The family’s attitudes toward the work of married women among the employed women was highly positive and the one toward the unemployment among the unemployed women was positive too. The variables having significant effects on the husbands’attitudes and the parents(parents in law)’attitudes toward the work of married women were different. The family’s altitudes had a very significant effect on the employment status of married women. Also, the financial situation of the household and some difficulties to find proper house keepers or child care types were important variables to predict the employment status of married women.
Objectives: This study was designed to evaluate whether employment status is associated with the experience of unmet care needs. Methods: This study utilized the Korea Health Panel data from 2012 to 2016. A total of 4,083 workers were selected as baseline subjects in 2012 and were followed for four years. This study used the GLIMMIX procedure under the marginal model while adjusting for covariates. Results: A total of 12.4% of 4,083 people said they had failed at least once to have a treatment or checkup despite the needs. Those more likely to experience unmet care needs were women and people of lower income level, with worse health conditions and chronic disease. Precarious workers, the self-employed, and the unemployed were more likely to experience unmet care needs caused by economic burden than permanent workers (Odds Ratio: 2.14, 2.07, 2.74, respectively). Conclusions: This disparity means that precarious workers and the unemployed are more likely to face barriers in obtaining needed health services. Given their insecure employment status, meeting their needs for health care is an important consideration.
The present study examined whether the relation between relative handgrip strength and cognitive function varied by paid employment status and participation of social activities among Korean older adults. A total of 3,376 Korean adults aged 65 or older were drawn from the 2016 Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA). Weighted hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to examine moderating effects of paid employment status and social activities on the relation between relative handgrip strength and cognitive function. After adjusting for covariates, results show that relative handgrip strength has a positive association with cognitive function. Both paid employment status and social activities have positive associations with cognitive function and moderate the relationship between relative handgrip strength and cognitive function. These significant moderating effects show that participating in paid employment and social activities buffer against the effect of lower handgrip strength on cognitive function. Findings from the present study highlight the significant role of active aging in older adults'cognitive function. Implications are discussed in a cultural context.
