Purpose: This paper provides both quantitative and qualitative literature review on employee engagement in State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) as portrayed in literature and offers more insight into the concept on how it can be optimised. Research design, data and methodology: The study adopted a desktop research methodology. A review and analysis of both theoretical and empirical research and articles which are relevant to employee engagement in SOEs was conducted. Only secondary information gathered through those articles and research was used to analyse and build literature review on employee engagement in SOEs. Results: A literature review of both qualitative and quantitative research on employee engagement in organisations generally and in SOEs particularly was done, and it indicated the positive relationship between employee engagement and organisational performance. From the study, it is evident that employee engagement is not optimal around the world, therefore it is an area which needs more attention. Hence, this study proffered strategies for enhancing employee engagement in SOEs. Conclusions: This study proffers strategies for optimising employee engagement in SOEs. These are brand image, work environment, management and leadership characteristics, training and development opportunities, performance management, work life balance, effective communication and Kahn's three factors of meaningfulness, safety and availability. These strategies are essential in optimising employee engagement as portrayed in the reviewed literature.

The hotel industry is an example of experiential services. As consumers cannot fully evaluate the online review content and quality of their services before booking, they must rely on several online reviews to reduce their perceived risks. However, individuals face information overload owing to the explosion of online reviews. Therefore, consumer cognitive fluency is an individual's subjective experience of the difficulty in processing information. Information complexity influences the receiver's attitude, behavior, and purchase decisions. Individuals who cannot process complex information rely on the peripheral route, whereas those who can process more information prefer the central route. This study further discusses the influence of the complexity of review information on hotel ratings using online attraction review data retrieved from TripAdvisor.com. This study conducts a two-level empirical analysis to explore the factors that affect review value. First, in the Peripheral Route model, we introduce a negative binomial regression model to examine the impact of intuitive and straightforward information on hotel ratings. In the Central Route model, we use a Tobit regression model with expert reviews as moderator variables to analyze the impact of complex information on hotel ratings. According to the analysis, five-star and budget hotels have different effects on hotel ratings. These findings have immediate implications for hotel managers in terms of better identifying potentially valuable reviews.

This article reviews 20 empirical studies that have focused on the organizational effectiveness of social welfare organizations since 1980. The purposes of this study were to understand the organizational phenomena of social welfare organizations, to offer practical implications for organizational management and to propose direction for the further researches. Special attention has been paid to identify 1) subjects of research 2) approach and criteria of organizational effectivess and 3) critical factors that impact on organizational effectiveness. The results showed that 1) most of researches utilized samples from social welfare community centers and assisted-living facility, 2) many researches focused on internal process approach and used diverse criteria of organizational effectiveness 3) collective developmental culture, decentralized structure, transformational leadership, open relationship between organization and external environment were critical factors of organizational effectiveness. The review suggests that social welfare managers should practice diverse approach based on vision, purpose and developmental stage of each organization. The managers also should implement more conscious efforts to make supportive and fair work environment where all employees feel valued and can demonstrate their maximum potential and to respond to task environments more proactively. Further research should be conducted from diverse organizations using various research methods. More comprehensive empirical model and multidimensional measure of organizational effectiveness need to be developed.

Body painting according to physical types is a method to express the body as it exists in nature or as an active element of nature. There is a need to research physical formation that applies the trend of contemporary naturalism to the types of nature art by emphasizing the artistic value of body painting with natural environmental overtones. Importantly, body painting according to physical types attempts an intact reproduction of natural objects and the reflection of the beauty of natural objects in body painting. Thus, the purpose of this study was to analyze body painting according to physical types based on the types of nature art. The methodology of the study included theoretical and empirical review. Theoretical review examined the characteristics of physical formation in nature art and relevant nature art works and body painting of physical types through previous research and literature. The empirical review applied analyses to works extracted from web sites of body painting. The study included physical type cases extracted from body painting works from 2005 to 2015 in foreign web sites(www.ilovebodyart.com and www.angel cakebodyart.com). Body painting works were based on the characteristics of physical types. As a result, the body painting of physical types based on nature art is as follows. First, organic continuity with nature art through the artists'thoughts and beliefs. Second, the specificity of place that respects the natural phenomenon itself. Third, the creative diversity of formative shapes for the body. Fourth, the social implications of body painting with human empathy. Fifth, immediacy to embody the artistic will of the artist. Finally, the application of physical types according to affinity with nature, as well as an independent artistic entity.

This study reviews the issue of endogeneity which has gained in importance in the empirical accounting researches in recent years. In so doing, I aim to call attention to the extent to which the presence of endogeneity limits the validity of empirical testing of models. More specifically, this paper explains what endogeneity is, its causes and consequences, and potential ways of managing the problem. The issues that concern endogeneity include, in the main, omitted variables, simultaneity, equilibrium conditions, choice variables. In this paper, I also discuss the implications derived from several selected empirical accounting research topics, that explicitly dealt with the problem of endogeneity. These include, among others, Oswald and Zarowin's (2007) study on the informativeness of capitalization of R&D, Hazarika et al. (2012) focusing on the relationship among internal corporate governance, CEO turnover, and earnings management, and a series of literature devoted to the associations between corporate governance structure and firm values. Finally, possible approaches for dealing with endogeneity are discussed.

This empirical study explored characteristics that affect the usefulness of online reviews, in the China e-commerce platform, and implemented multiple regressions to find factors that significantly influence on product sales, ultimately. Till now, prior studies have continuously revealed what factor affects usefulness of online review or product sales, only in respective terms. The point of our study is that we built two-level regression models, thereby being able to comprehensively analyze these two different targets. Before plunging into running regressions, we carefully collected 192,764 online review data for 200 products extracted from the Jingdong, the second biggest e-commerce platform in China. Also, we gathered "review sentimental scores" variable from each review and used that one as a core variable in our regression model, thus we were able to implement both quantitative and qualitative research. The evidences from the two-level regression models showed that the extent to which a product is experience good positively affects both usefulness of a review and product sales, again the usefulness of a review contributes to product sales in sequence. Also, the property of experience good has interaction effect on both for two-level regression models. Our main findings highlight the importance of role of online review to business performance of e-commerce firms.

The purposes of this study are to present the criteria for a sensibility rating scale for measuring the general women's perception of museums' spatial environment, through an empirical analysis; and to clarify the characteristics of the presented rating scale in terms of each rating element and factor. For this study, a survey was conducted during August 19 - September 16, 2010, and a total of 342 museum visitors participated in the survey. A sensibility rating scale used for the survey consisted of a total of 32 adjectives selected from a literature review of previous studies. To specify the dimensions of semantic space using the semantic adjectives, words with opposite meanings were analyzed with the semantic differential technique developed by Osgood et al. Using SPSS, a reliability analysis, factor analysis were conducted on the data obtained from the survey. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: According to the women's perception of museums' spatial environment, six factors were found from the 25 semantic ratings of the Museum. The summarized criteria were: 'aesthetic', 'pleasant', 'valuable', 'function', 'affinity', and 'material.' The derived criteria were verified through an empirical test using emotional adjectives. In the coming years, the results of this study will serve as valuable data for constructing a sensibility rating scale for evaluating spatial environments of museums.

Purpose - The aim of this article is to outline the concept of work engagement and the importance of job resources including supervisor support and coworker support pertaining to work engagement. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - The article discusses the concept of work engagement and what empirical evidences suggest about its relationship with job resources including supervisor and coworker support. Result - Critical review of the literature has indicated towards strengths and pitfalls of social support resources including supervisor and coworker at work, particularly with regards to work engagement thus, requiring further empirical attention. Accordingly, the article has also indicated towards the critical significance of meaningful work for fostering employee well-being at work. Conclusions - The article has highlighted noteworthy empirical gaps in the body of knowledge concerning to job resources including supervisor support and coworker support and their relationship with work engagement. The article has also underlined the lack of research and potential of 'meaningful work' towards enhancing work engagement as well as, acting as a moderator between supervisor support, coworker support and work engagement relationship.

Purpose: Cardiac arrest has multiple characteristics that need to be approached as an integrated method according to the various changes in the body system. This study was performed to develop a useful guideline for early detection of cardiac arrest by revealing the attributes of cardiac arrest through a concept analysis. Methods: This study was conducted according to the Walker and Avant's concept analysis method. Systematic literature review and in-depth interview with nurses who experienced cardiac arrest situation were conducted. Based on the literature reviews and in-depth interviews with nurses, the attributes and the empirical referents of the concept of cardiac arrest were elicited. Results: The definable attributes of cardiac arrest were 1) loss of consciousness, 2) abnormal respiratory condition, 3) abnormal cardiovascular signs. Cardiac arrest was found to occur by several antecedents such as cardiac problem, non-cardiac problem, or general problem, whereas ischemia and re-perfusion injury, which can lead to multiple organ failure and death, were derived as consequences. Conclusion: In this study, the concept analysis eliciting attributes and empirical referents is found to be useful as a guideline for understanding and managing cardiac arrest. Based on these findings, clinical providers are expected to make a precise and rapid decision on cardiac arrest and respond quickly, which may increase survival rate of the patients underwent the arrest event.

An empirical formula that has been empirically shown to be effective for a particular condition can be said to add medical materials to an exciting formula or to make a new prescription by Korean medical doctors' empirical clinic. This dissertation aims to study the prescriptions according to A Confidential Document of A Distinguished Medical Family and to contribute to the development of Korean medicine. A Confidential Document of A Distinguished Medical Family is a medicinal recipe that is an heirloom of the Gyeongju Kim family for the eighth generation. And the date and the writer of the book are unknown. The contents of the book consist of 18 parts and are made up of about 300 medical recipes. Of these, 153 formulas and indications of roundworm, cholera, puffy swelling, abdominal distension, phlegm-rheum, woman, child, summerheat, dryness-heat, eye, and blood are found in the book. From among these, 26 formulas are directly quoted out of The Precious Mirror of Oriental Medicine, 93 formulas are adjusted in proportion or combined and 34 formulas are empirical ones. By the parity of reasoning of the above, I think that this book was published after The Precious Mirror of Oriental Medicine.
