  • In computer graphics, most animations of characters have been created using the traditional and often highly labor intensive key-framing technique. Recently, character animation is demanded increasingly automated techniques for animation according to interaction with the user or environment of the user. In this paper, we will propose a new method which can animate characters automatical/y with user interactions. The character's behavior is determined as a result of understanding the emotional condition of the user. Psychology and cognitive AI provide some ideas about how to approach this problem. Our study is based mostly on the theories of Ortony, Clore and Collins, which were designed to be implemented computationally. In our system, we can make 22 emotion types and some more behavior features and we apply to some characters.

  • This study is focused on the effects of elder's blood type on determining awareness and emotional character of the elderly, by comparing each individual's brain wave. Observed records are from thoes elder's who volunteered for KRIJUS( Korea Research Institute of Jungshin Science)'s brain wave measurement from September 2008 to June 2009. The whole 762 elder group consists of 311 female and 451 male. Blood types are A>B>O>AB dominately ordered. The result shown no relations between the blood types and their emotional character among elderly female, while elderly men shown meaningful difference; type B and O had higher rate on negative aspects. When it comes to awareness categories, both emotional(p=.001) and active(right)(p=.040) index shown meaningful differences. Type A had highest rate on emotional index and AB had it on active index. This study revealed meaningful relation between blood types and emotional character among several categories, while suggesting follow-up researches figuring out more detailed explanations for its effect and genetic role.

  • In the design and develop a virtual character, it is important to correctly deliver target emotions generated by the combination of facial expression and gesture. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of congruent/incongruent between gesture and facial expression on target emotion. In this study four emotions, joy, sadness, fear, and anger, are applied. The results of study showed that sadness emotion were incorrectly perceived. Moreover, it was perceived as anger instead of sadness. Sadness can be easily confused when facial expression and gestures were simultaneously presented. However, in the other emotional status, the intended emotional expressions were correctly perceived. The overall evaluation of virtual character's emotional expression was significantly low when joy gesture was combined with sad facial expression. The results of this study suggested that emotional gesture is more influential correctly to deliver target emotions to users. This study suggested that social cues like gender or age of virtual character should be further studied.

  • This study investigated the emotional inferences depending on the children's age, character's personality traits, and emotional situations. One hundred three subjects (34 3-year-olds, 33 5-year-olds and 36 7-year-olds) were recruited from 3 daycare centers and 1 elementary school. Eight stories, consisting of four personality traits (positive-'active','helpful', negative-'selfish','mean') and two emotional situations (equivocal and unequivocal situation), were presented with three pictures each. The statistical methods adopted for the data analysis were repeated measure ANOVA, and paired t-test. The results showed that the 3-year-olds showed lower scores of emotional inferences than the 5- and 7-year-olds. However, there were no significant differences between the 5- and 7-year-olds. Children showed more personal inferential responses in the negative personality trait and equivocal situation.

  • As a part of "The method of suitable design for resident," the purpose of this study is to figure out the resident aptitude of client through "Saju-Myungrihak" more effectively and precisely. That is, the study is to find out the relations between individual character and environmental interior tendency through experimentingss to make Images based on one's individual inherent aptitude and character. For all these reasons, we proudly launch to develop the interior design program based on emotional inherent-aptitude technology for our clients with applying Nakamitch Mizuo's emotional technology thesis "the Expert System." However, a critical implication made by Nakamitch Mizuo's emotional technology, elucidates the fact that there was a problem for understanding the system of client's inherent aptitude. 1. Appearance of The inherent-aptitude in Saju-Myungrihak 2. MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) Form K 3. To strengthen and develop the tools of visual images through understanding clients' character and tendency by the result of his or her DNA (ACE, DRD4, DRD2, G-protein) test.
