  • This study warns of the dangers of pre-marketing that is too preoccupied with raising market expectations before release at the film market level, and provides practical implications that the lower the level of mismatch of market expectations, the more ideal performance can be achieved. The level of expectation before release and satisfaction after release were measured by each movie rating, and the difference was calculated as the inconsistency of expectations. In raising expectations before the release, the expert rating among the star power, director power, expert rating, and number of screens has a significant influence. It was confirmed that the level of expectation before the release had a positive effect on the rating after the release, but had a negative effect on the level of discordance. In addition, the hypothesis that the higher the expectation level before the release, the greater the inconsistency, and the hypothesis that the higher the expectation inconsistency has a negative effect on the box office level is supported. This provides various implications for marketing carried out before or after the release of a movie to film-related practitioners for products with low involvement or emotional content such as movies.

  • Child sexual crimes have increased, but there has been no effective plan to combat this. Films reporting problems, amplify the attentions and propose countermeasures, which leads to changes. The current study examined the audiences' reactions to child sexual crime faction films using text-mining. The analysis of Naver's 2,727 blogs showed realistic words while 3,000 review comments' analysis demonstrated emotional responses. The positive and negative emotional category and degree were also different. In , the higher degree of negative emotions, such as 'angry' and 'unpleasant' appeared frequently. In , only negative emotional worlds were used. On the other hand, 'sad' was the highest ranked word, and the negative level was weak. In , 'good' a positive emotional word solely emerged. The audiences perceived the accidents objectively before release while they expressed their emotions and feelings after watching the movies. caused explosive anger and organized the participating citizens for changes. This movie provided an opportunity to enforce a legislative bill intensifying heavy punishments. The present study is significant in scrutinizing the audiences' diverse emotional reactions and discusses the future direction of society prosecution movies. Based on the text analysis of the audiences' linguistic expressions, a future study will be needed to hierarchically classify the diverse emotional expressions.

  • This study proposes a novel context-aware recommender system, which is designed to recommend the items according to the customer's responses to the previously recommended item. In specific, our proposed system predicts the user's emotional state from his or her responses (such as facial expressions and movements) to the previous recommended item, and then it recommends the items that are similar to the previous one when his or her emotional state is estimated as positive. If the customer's emotional state on the previously recommended item is regarded as negative, the system recommends the items that have characteristics opposite to the previous item. Our proposed system consists of two sub modules-(1) emotion prediction module, and (2) responsive recommendation module. Emotion prediction module contains the emotion prediction model that predicts a customer's arousal level-a physiological and psychological state of being awake or reactive to stimuli-using the customer's reaction data including facial expressions and body movements, which can be measured using Microsoft's Kinect Sensor. Responsive recommendation module generates a recommendation list by using the results from the first module-emotion prediction module. If a customer shows a high level of arousal on the previously recommended item, the module recommends the items that are most similar to the previous item. Otherwise, it recommends the items that are most dissimilar to the previous one. In order to validate the performance and usefulness of the proposed recommender system, we conducted empirical validation. In total, 30 undergraduate students participated in the experiment. We used 100 trailers of Korean movies that had been released from 2009 to 2012 as the items for recommendation. For the experiment, we manually constructed Korean movie trailer DB which contains the fields such as release date, genre, director, writer, and actors. In order to check if the recommendation using customers' responses outperforms the recommendation using their demographic information, we compared them. The performance of the recommendation was measured using two metrics-satisfaction and arousal levels. Experimental results showed that the recommendation using customers' responses (i.e. our proposed system) outperformed the recommendation using their demographic information with statistical significance.

  • Of the numerous events that occur in daily life, we readily remember salient information, but do not retain most less-salient events for a prolonged period. Although some of the episodes contain putatively emotional aspects, the information with lower saliency is rarely stored in neural circuits via an unknown mechanism. We provided substantial evidence indicating that synaptic plasticity in the dorsal ITC of amygdala allows for selective storage of salient emotional experiences, while it deters less-salient experience from entering long-term memory. After activation of D4R or weak fear conditioning, STDP stimulation induces LTD in the LA-ITC synapses. This form of LTD is dependent upon presynaptic D4R, and is likely to result from enhancement of GABA release. Both optogenetic abrogation of LTD and ablation of D4R at the dorsal ITC in vivo lead to heightened and over-generalized fear responses. Finally, we demonstrated that LTD was impaired at the dorsal ITC of PTSD model mice, which suggests that maladaptation of GABAergic signaling and the resultant LTD impairment contribute to the endophenotypes of PTSD. • This study is aimed to reflect the current status survey, analysis and response of 10 railway stations using geographical names in one of 19 stations located on Gyeongbu, Honam and Chungbuk line. Most railway stations in the study have shown normal images that are close to the standard type by selecting similar building materials rather than reflecting geographical features. Aside from the shape of the traditional Korean house in Cheongju, almost all newly constructed stations tend to incorporate light gray plating material on their modern exterior to produce Family look design as a railroad station. According to a survey of the sensitivity of the station's name, Osong Station was 73.6 percent, Gyeryong Station 67.3 percent, Heukseok-ri Station was 64.5 percent, Shintan-jin 62.6 percent, and Yeonsan Station 57 percent, more than half. Therefore, the results of the five stations were presented as a calculation and proposed design release focusing on the facades of each station. Each of these stations suggested a way to express the facade design image, considering the railway operation status of Korea Railroad, the area of the station and other surroundings.

  • This longitudinal study examines the burdens and related factors for stroke patient's primary family caregivers. Sixty-one patients treated for stroke at a general hospital in Chung-nam province and family member caregivers participated in this study from July 28, 1998 to August 1, 1999. Family caregivers' burdens were assessed by the burden scale originally developed by Zarit(1980) and Novak & Geust(1989) and modified by Oh's(1993) for use in Korea. The burden scale instrument consists of five subscales.: financial burden, social burden, physical burden, dependency burden, and emotional burden. Repeated ANOVA and Stepwise multiple regression were used in the data analyses. The results were as follows: The burden mean score was 3.23 in the hospital, 3.26 after hospital release, and 3.27 in the home environment. In the hospital, a patient's degree of cognition, and social support for family caregivers were significant factors affecting the sense of burden felt by family caregivers. After hospital release, the significant factors affecting the sense of burden were the degree to which stroke patients could participate in daily living activities, social support for family caregivers, and changing to a second caregiver. In the home environment, the most significant factor affecting the sense of burden was social support for family caregivers.

  • The information that consumers share in the SNS (Social Networking Service) has a great influence on the purchase of consumers. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to new research methodology and advertising strategy using Social Big Data. In this context, the purpose of this study is to quantitatively analyze customer value through Social Big Data. In this study, we analyzed the value structure of consumers for the three smartphone brands through text mining and positive/negative image analysis. Analysis result, it was possible to distinguish the emotional aspects (sensitivity) and rational aspects (rationality) for customer value per brand. In the case of the Galaxy S7 and iPhone 6S, emotional aspects were important before the launch, but the rational aspects was important after release date. On the other hand, in the case of the LG G5, emotional aspects were important before and after launch. We can propose two core advertising strategies based on analyzed consumer value. When developing advertising strategy in the case of the Galaxy S7, there is a need to emphasize the rational aspects of product attributes and differentiated functions. In the case of the LG G5, it is necessary to consider the emotional aspects of happiness, excitement, pleasure, and fun that are felt by using products in advertising strategy. As a result, this study will provide a good standard for actual advertising strategy through consumer value analysis. Advertising strategies are primarily driven by intuition or experience. Therefore, it is important to develop advertising strategies by analyzing consumer value through social big data analysis.

  • Most patients having leukemia suffer severely from emotional turmoil due to the generalized perception that cancer will be fatal. The conventional chemotherapy results in side effects such as severe bone marrow depression which interfere with self-care management, vital for improvement in their condition. Bandura's theory of the self-efficacy suggests that self- efficacy can be enforced by performance attainments, vicarious experiences, verbal per-suasion and the release of emotional arousal. Self-efficacy can be enforced by a program of vicarious experiences and verbal persuasion, while the emotional arousal can be relieved through a hope promotion program, If once self-efficacy increases, the patient's self-care behaviors and the quality of life will also increase. The purpose of this study was to empirically test the effects of a program, to promote self-efficacy and hope, on self-care behaviors and quality of life in patients having leukemia. In this study, three types of approaches to enhance self-efficacy and hope were used : 1) a 20-minute long slide /tape for vacarious experiences : 2) a 10-minute long telephone call coaching for verbal persuasion ; and 3) two booklets for information about the symptoms of leukemia and treatment modalities and hope promotion. Thirty one patients were recruited in the experimental group and 29 in the control group with a nonequivalent pretest-posttest design. The subjects were patients with leukemia undergoing chemotherapy. Sherer and Maddux's self-efficacy scale, Nowotny's hope scale, and Padilla's quality of life scale were employed with some modifications. A self-care behavior scale was developed by the researchers. Statistical analyses including paired t-test, Chi-square, ANCOVA and ANOVA, were used. The results are as follows : The levels of self-efficacy, self-care behavior and quality of life were higher in the experimental group than in the control group after four weeks of intervention(F=28.71, P=.0001 ; F=63.35, P=.0001 F=16.57, P=.0001). After ten weeks of intervention, all of the dependent variables(self-efficacy, self-care behavior, hope & quality of life) in the experimental group were higher than in the control group (F=74.12, P=.0001 ; F=108.34, P=.0001 ; F=13,11, P=.001 : F=43.52, P=.0001). In conclusion, self-care behavior and quality of life increased mainly through an increase in self-efficacy, while increases in hope took more time and effort.
