This study analyzed the contents of KOSS-SF and PWI-SF by using ICF-VR core set and IPC framework for value judgment. The two instruments are self-report questionnaires commonly used for presenteeism in order to suggest vocational rehabilitation factors to predict presenteeism. The study was conducted from Dec 2018 to Feb 2019. For the analysis, the researchers independently linked the scales using the connection rules of ICF and IPC framework. The average agreement between the researchers was 90%. KOSS-SF was linked with 60 ICF-VR codes and PWI-SF with 34 ICF-VR codes, and mainly measured activities and participation, and body function domains. According to the IPC framework, the instruments were found to measure the Rational-Social, and Emotional-Psychological aspects. As a result, the two instruments did not adequately reflect the presenteeism (30% matched) and were particularly limited in ICF-VR environmental domains. Based on the results, questions of ICF body structure, environmental, and personal domains should be added to improve the validity of the presenteeism scale, and references and guidelines should be developed for collecting clearer data. Further study and discussion were provided.
This study examined the reasoning of gifted elementary science students in a socioscientific issues (SSI) classroom discussion on COVID-19-related trash disposal challenges. This study aimed to understand the characteristics of evidence use and decision-making difficulties in each type of SSI-related reasoning. To this end, the transcripts of 17 gifted students of elementary science discussing SSIs in a classroom were analyzed within the framework of informal reasoning. The analysis framework was categorized into three types according to the primary influence involved in reasoning: rational, emotional, and intuitive. The analysis showed that students exhibited four categories of evidence use in SSI reasoning. First, in the rational reasoning category, students deemed and recorded scientific knowledge, numbers, and statistics as objective evidence. However, students who experienced difficulty in investigating such scientific data were less likely to have factored them in subsequent decisions. Second, in the emotional reasoning category, students' solutions varied considerably depending on the perspective they empathized with and reasoned from. Differences in their views led to conflicting perspectives on SSIs and consequent disagreement. Third, in the intuitive reasoning category, students disagreed with the opinions of their peers but did not explain their positions precisely. Intuitive reasoning also created challenges as students avoided problem-solving in the discussion and did not critically examine their opinions. Fourth, a mixed category of reasoning emerged: intuition combined with rationality or emotion. When combined with emotion, intuitive reasoning was characterized by deep empathy arising from personal experience, and when combined with rationality, the result was only an impulsive reaction. These findings indicate that research on student understanding and faculty knowledge of SSIs discussed in classrooms should consider the difficulties in informal reasoning and decision-making.
In recent years, there has been increasing interest in the senior people in our aging society. This paper will give an account of the current cases of senior shift. The first section of this paper will examine a conceptual approach based on a literature review and analyze case studies of senior shifts by national fashion and beauty brands. It will be helpful for the 'New Senior' consumer group, which in emerging in an aging society. The research methods applied were a literature review and a case study, and a database search was conducted to determine the current situation of global brands. The results of the literature review showed that seniors can be classified into four types based on their physical aging condition and emotional tendency: Prime Senior, Smart Senior, Rational Senior, and Slump Senior. The first thing that needs to be said is that the Prime Senior type is found commonly in as a way to appoint a senior model in order to switch brand image. Cases of the Smart Senior type appeared only in the beauty field, which attempted multilateral approaches such as launching products exclusively for seniors and offering make-up services after improving the usability and functionality in response to senior consumers'needs. However, as no cases of senior shift were found for the Rational Senior and Slump Senior types in either the fashion or beauty field, future studies should explore the market approaches used in those categories.
There are probably no architects of the 20th Century who had more influence on modern architecture than Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier. Although the two architects share one thing in common, namely, both are master of modernism, each has developed unique architecture of his own. The objective of this study is to investigate the characteristics of their works through a comparison analysis of the Ideas, design principles and architectural language reflected in the works, focusing on the houses. this study will also aim to provide a foundation for a new design that harmonizes the design principles and architectural language of the two. Through the study the following common points and differences were found between the houses of the two. A) Common points: Both architects avoided ornamentation In houses while placing weight on the functions of houses and they tried to plan rational floor plans by separating the wall from the structure. B) Differences: \circled1 The houses of Mies express the structure in a straight forward manner, while those of Corbusier are formative houses focusing more on shapes. \circled2 The shapes of the houses of Mies are limited to basic shapes, quadrangle while those of Corbusier employ various geometric curves. \circled3 Using steel and glass, the houses of Mies are light and transparent. On the contrary, using concrete, the houses of Corbusier are somewhat bulky with Three-dimensional changes. \circled4 The houses of Mies show the value of moderation based upon the classical principles of design, while the houses of Corbusier show the value of moderation based upon geometry. \circled5 The houses of Mies feature horizontal intoners with flexibility. However, Corbusier's houses have vertical interiors with some changes in the cross sections. \circled6 In terms of material, the interiors of Mies' houses employ materials with various tones and textures, while interiors of Corbusier's houses are painted in simple white. Summing up these characteristics, it could be said that the houses of Mies have logical and rational beauty, whereas the houses of Corbusier have more emotional beauty.
Purpose: This study explored the experiences of pregnant women with depressed mood participating in a group cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) program using video communication, based on Beck's cognitive theory. Methods: The participants were six pregnant women out of 13 women who had participated in an 8-session group CBT program using video communication for women with depressed mood (Edinburgh Postnatal Depression score of ≥9). Data were collected from February 20 through March 25, 2021. In-depth individual interviews were conducted through a video conferencing platform at 1 month post-baseline. Thematic analysis was done. Results: Three themes, 10 subthemes, and 38 concepts were derived from experiences of participating in the 4-week group CBT program (twice a week). The first theme, entitled "continuing realization" had subthemes of "a negative and instable self," "a selfish judgment that excludes others," and "a strong belief in self-control." The second theme, entitled "attempt to change for restoration" had subthemes of "shift to rational thinking," "freedom from suppressed beliefs," "tolerance of other people," and "courage for self-expression." The third theme, entitled "departure for a positive life," had subthemes of "emotional healing," "faith in oneself," and "reestablishing the criteria for happiness." Conclusion: Pregnant women with depressed mood expressed that continuing realizations and attempts to change supported their transition toward a positive direction of healing. Thus, they were able to change their distorted thinking into rational thinking through CBT using video communication. These findings support the use of group CBT using video communication with pregnant women who have depressed mood.
Expected consumer's consumption propensity affected by advertisement using media facade and how this advertisement can affect consumer response and advertising effectiveness will be examined practically. This research showed TV advertisement and media facade advertisement to each participants of research in order to evaluate consumer response and effectiveness of media facade advertisement and took a survey. Research result, positive response was observed that consumer who were exposed of media facade advertisement showed more positive cognition/emotional response than TV advertisement. And effectiveness of media facade is more than standard. However, product attitude was not statistically positive. Therefore, it can be said that media facade advertisement does not affect positively on product attitude, but it is effective on purchase intention. Next, consumer who is exposed of media facade advertisement showed little low correlation on cognition response and product attitude, but showed positive correlation on cognition response, purchase intention, emotional response and product attitude. Accordingly, more positive consumer's cognition and emotional response is, the higher advertisement effect can be observed. Last, positive result were not presented in consumer's consumption propensity in regards to rational/emotional response. This means that it is invalid to state that consumer response differs for consumer propensity. Through result of experiment, a statement that media facade is a new media that has various possibility as advertisement mediator had been proved. Especially, as it shows that positive effect exists regardless of consumer's consumption propensity, use of media facade as marketing means is reasonable for firm in order to increase satisfaction of consumer and brand value.
The object of this dissertation is to teach the divorced inmates the method to deal with the conflicts which they have had. This program constitutes 10 terms session, and the participants are 6 at first, but reduced one latter. In the process of the program, when making nickname, the participants preferred the words that present their personal emotion and experience. And the participation rate by each participants were ascent more and more in accordance with the process. After the whole process of the program, we executed conflict-dealing scale test before and after the program. The result showed that 'Patience' and 'Siloam' presented change from emotional dealing to rational dealing. 'Sea', 'Jin' and 'Birth' presented higher level of emotional dealing than before the test. Therefore Through this result, we knew that conflict-dealing method program improved the skills and abilities which are used for the situation making conflicts.
With the ingenious properties of unconstrained formativeness and frank expression of materiality the exposed concrete became popular with numerous architectures. The application of the exposed concrete has expanded to indoor environments such as commercial and residential spaces beyond the building exteriors with the uncompromising nature of its materiality. The purpose of this study is to conduct sensibility evaluation of the exposed concrete finish in interior spaces. The sensibility evaluation is conducted through a survey on a set of space models of the exposed concrete finish. The three rendered space models were evaluated by emotional vocabulary of 18 pairs of words. The result were as follows: First, the emotions derived from the exposed concrete finish are 'modern', 'cold', 'simple', 'restrained', 'rough', 'dark', 'new', 'chic', 'familiar' and 'eco-friendly'. Second, three sets of space models with alternative materials on walls and floors in exposed concrete interior space showed clear difference in sensibility. A space with the exposed concrete finish on the floor, the walls and the ceiling showed the results of 'cold', 'dark', 'rational' and 'masculine'. In the exposed concrete finish environment with wood flooring 'comfortable', 'warm', 'bright' senses and with white paint finish on the wall 'bright', 'practical', 'ordinary' and 'restrained' senses were obtained. Third, all three images achieved senses of 'chic', 'modern', 'new', 'pleasant', 'environment friendly' and 'satisfactory'. The modernity and stylish expressions of the exposed concrete finish were kept with the application of different material finishes as well as complementing its cold and rough expressions with warmth and brightness.
The theoretical scope of the public sphere has been dramatically expanded as a result of new academic inquiries into the nature of the political and the public in contemporary societies. While appreciating the value of the concept of the public sphere for understanding democratic roles of the media, scholars began to raise questions on Habermasians' exclusive focus on news and public affairs programs, arguing that various entertainment programs also can invoke political deliberation. Terms like affective public sphere, emotional public sphere, aesthetic public sphere, expressive public sphere were used to capture this new conception. To comprehend the theoretical and practical implications of the conceptual expansion of the public sphere for media studies, this study attempted to provide a typology of media-public sphere relationships. By using public-private and rational-emotional axes as two criteria for classification, we created four prototypes of the public sphere (i.e., political public sphere, populism, difference pluralism, and intimacy/privacy) and discussed the characteristics of each type. After setting out media communication as a form of meta-public sphere that mediates and coordinates the four different types of the public sphere, we presented public service broadcasting as an exemplar meta-public sphere in the contemporary society of multiple social antagonisms and differences.
This study explored the internal world through sandplay therapy for an elementary school boy who had social and emotional difficulties of poor peer relations, anxiety and withdrawal. This study examined the changing processes of sandboxes, how a boy expressed his internal world by the content themes in sandplay according to Turner (2009) based on analytical psychology and sandplay theories. There were 72 sessions. The initial phase was 1-6 (The beginning of war) expressing confusing wars as the start of a long internal journey. The intermediate phase was 7-55 (Struggle), dividing by phase I 7-18 (Hero's fight I), phase II 19-36 (Hero's fight II), phase III 37-48 (Seeking for a male identity), and phase IV 49-55 (Centering). The client identified himself as a teenaged hero and expressed the conflict between good and bad, between death and rebirth and struggled for seeking treasures in the fight of heroes. He found identity as a male by finding a sense of existence, establishing order in the middle of confusion, and expressing strong and rational masculinity. The final phase was 56-72 (The winner of the struggle). In the fights repeating, he expressed an adventurous and positive male energy such as racing, speed contests and a union in the opposites of hero and heroine as well as the birth of a new conscious. This study provides a basic knowledge of educational guidance in school and counseling fields by expanding the understanding of a boy's unconsciousness.
