A Study on The Expression of Digital Eye Contents for Emotional Communication (감성 커뮤니케이션을 위한 디지털 눈 콘텐츠 표현 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to establish an emotional expression factors of digital eye contents that can be applied to digital environments. The emotion which can be applied to the smart doll is derived and we suggest guidelines for expressive factors of each emotion. For this paper, first, we research the concepts and characteristics of emotional expression are shown in eyes by the publications, animation and actual video. Second, we identified six emotions -Happy, Angry, Sad, Relaxed, Sexy, Pure- and extracted the emotional expression factors. Third, we analyzed the extracted factors to establish guideline for emotional expression of digital eyes. As a result, this study found that the factors to distinguish and represent each emotion are classified four categories as eye shape, gaze, iris size and effect. These can be used as a way to enhance emotional communication effects such as digital contents including animations, robots and smart toys.

  • This research has analyzed the influence of Yeosu Expo's service quality on emotion, perceived value and satisfaction. First of all, the Yeosu Expo's service quality scale was composed with five types of levels : exhibition contents, quality of performance, human service, approach convenience and necessary expense. As the result of influence analysis, exhibition contents, quality of performance and necessary expense had significant influence on attendee's positive emotion. Exhibition contents, necessary expense and approach convenience to approach showed significant influence in perceived value, and necessary expense related to the expo had the highest influence among the three values. Also, the attendee's positive emotion and perceived value towards service from expo was analyzed to have satisfactorily significant influence.

Emotional Intelligence in Children's Textbooks of the Chosun Dynasty (조선시대 아동용 교재들 속에 나타난 정서지능)

  • Seven textbooks for children used in homes and schools (sudangs) of the Chosun dynasty were examined to investigate how they taught emotional intelligence in traditional Korean society. The contents of the books were analyzed according to the 4 abilities of emotional intelligence described by Salovey and Mayer (1966): (1) perception, appraisal, and expression of emotion, (2) emotion's facilitation of thinking, (3) understanding and analyzing emotions, and (4) regulation of emotion to promote emotional and intellectual growth. The analysis showed that most of the books valued emotional intelligence and taught children how they perceive, appraise, and express emotions. The emotional ability to facilitate thinking was also emphasized, whereas the ability to understand and analyze emotions was seldom mentioned. It was also found that the regulation of emotion was emphasized; that is, children were educated to control and depress their emotions rather than to express them naturally.

The Effects of Adolescents' Emotional Control Strategy on Emotional Instability and Stress (청소년의 감정조절전략이 정서적 불안정성과 스트레스에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the effects of adolescents' emotional control strategies on emotional instability and stress. Study subjects included 124 adolescents from Ulsan city. Frequency analysis, reliability analysis, and correlation analysis were performed using the SPSS 22.0 program, and multiple regression analysis was performed on the causal relationships between variables. First, as a result of examining the effect of adolescents' emotion control strategies on job burnout, it was found that emotion-centered strategy, a sub-factor of emotion control strategy, had a significant effect on emotional instability. On the other hand, it was found that cognitive-oriented strategy factors did not significantly affect emotional instability. Second, as a result of examining the effect of emotion control strategies on stress, it was found that emotion-centered strategies, a sub-factor of emotion control strategy, had a significant negative (-) effect on stress. On the other hand, it was found that cognitive-oriented strategy factors did not significantly affect stress. These results imply that higher emotion-centered strategies lead to lower emotional instability and stress. This study provides basic data for preparing plans to reduce the emotional instability and stress of adolescents.

  • Psychology of color is a research field of psychology for studying human's behavior connected with color. Color carries symbolism and image while sharing psychological consensus with human. Each color has a respective image such as hope, passion, love, life, death, and so on. Peculiar stimuli by colors on these images have great influence on human's emotion and psychology. We therefore proposed a method for understanding human's state of emotion based on colors in this paper. In order to understand human's state of emotion, we analyzed color information used to model a room by a user and then described frequencies of each color as percent using fuzzy inference rules by membership values of fuzzy membership functions for colors used for modeling the room. When we applied the proposed color-based emotion analysis method to emotional state based on colors of Alschuler and Hattwick, we could see the proposed method is efficient.

  • In post-industrial society, the ability to feel and express emotion is becoming ever more important. In diverse areas of our lives such as economic, social, political and cultural activities, we are witnessing an increased application of the emotional dimension. This paper deals with the human experiences in emotional designs. Literature reviews and case analyses have been used as the main research methods. I first examine the aspects of emotional experience in designs, and then go on to analyze the components of each aspect. Emotional experience in designs has three basic aspects : (a) initially there exist user's emotional needs (b) then these emotions are delivered through design, (c) finally, emotions expressed in designs are experienced by the user. Followings are the related components for each aspect : (a) Physiological, psychological, social and cultural factors cause one to feel emotional needs. (b) Emotion is delivered either through visual symbols, experience, interaction and participation. (c) Emotion is experienced by sensing, feeling, thinking, acting and relating.

Empirical Analysis Approach to Investigating how Consumer's Continuance Intention to Use Online Store is Influenced by Uncertainty, Switching Cost, Offline Trust, and Individual Negative Emotion: Emphasis on Offline-Online Multi-Channels (오프라인-온라인 멀티채널 상황에서 불확실성, 전환비용, 오프라인 신뢰 및 개인의 부정감정이 사용자 지속구매의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증연구)

  • It becomes undeniable trends that offline shopping stores operate their own online shopping stores too. The multi-channel shopping stores like this allow consumers to have much choices to shop from either offline channel or online channel. This trend, however, also opens new research issues. Especially, we have found from literature survey that a new research model is necessary for more in-depth study of the consumer behavior analysis in the multi-channel trends like this, where those constructs such as offline trust, uncertainty, switching cost, and individual negative emotion are considered. It is noted, especially in the multi-channel environments, that uncertainty and switching cost need to be considered, and that individual tends to feel negative emotion much more. By relying on 406 valid questionnaires, we obtained empirical results such that switching cost and offline trust have a positive effect on continuance intention, and uncertainty tends to increase switching cost. Individual negative emotion also affects continuance intention significantly.

Effects of Spouse Bereavement in Old Age on Emotion and Social Interaction (노년기 배우자 사별이 정서와 사회적 상호작용에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out as a preliminary study to analyze how emotion(depression and anxiety) after spouse bereavement in old age affects social interaction and to set a direction of developing programs based on the cause and period of bereavement to promote social interaction for those bereaved people. To that end, welfare facilities and schools for the elderly and churches located in Seoul, and Suwon and Osan areas were visited and surveys were executed on 350 aged people who had experienced spouse bereavement from September 26 through October 25, 2014. Analysis was executed for 325 questionnaires out of the total of 350 using SPSS WIN 20. Study findings are as follows: first, the average of emotion and social interaction due to bereavement was not significantly different between groups; second, the average of emotion and social interaction due to bereavement period was not significantly different between groups; third, the impact of bereavement type and period statistically significant. These findings implies that social interaction programs for the aged people can be developed regardless of bereavement cause or period.

Color Transformation of Images based on User Preference (사용자 취향을 반영한 영상의 색변환)

  • Color affects people in their various combinations of hue, saturation and value. On the other hand, people may feel different emotion from the same color. If we can introduce these characteristics of color and people's emotion about color to emotion-based digital technologies and their contents, we can effectively draw users' interest and immersion to the contents. In this paper, we will show how people feel about color and present a method of image coloring that reflects the user's preference. First, we define basic templates that reflect the relationship between color and emotion, and then perform an image coloring. To reflect user's preference, we compute weights for hue, saturation and value through the experiments on each subject's preference about hue, saturation and value. The image coloring for each subject's taste will be drawn by updating the weights of hue, saturation and value. Through the results of experiments and surveys, we found that people were more satisfied with the transformation of the templates which reflected user's preference than the one that did not.

An Analysis of the Post-viewing Emotion and Behavior on the Dance Audience (무용공연 관람객의 관람 후 감정과 행동 분석)

  • This study is to analyze the difference of the post-viewing emotion and behavior of the audience at a dance performance by general characteristics of the audience. To attain the goal of the study described above paragraphs, the audience of dance performance located in Seoul and Kyoungki-Do was set as a collected group. Then, using the convenience sampling method, finally drew out and analyzed 280 people in total. statistic analysis techniques were used SPSS 18.0 program. Based on the statistical methods above, we had the result of data analysis as follows; First, among the general characteristics(job, viewing frequency, dance experience, and genre), had significantly effect on the post-viewing emotion(positive emotion, satisfaction) Second, among the general characteristics(job, viewing frequency, dance experience, and genre), all the factors had significantly effect on post-viewing behaviors(researching, respectating intention).
