  • Human feels kinesthetic sense in response to the force acted on him. In order to represent kinesthetic sense, a force is analyzed as mechanical impedance (i.e., stiffness or damping) and implemented by active impedance control. In this research, a 3-dimensional arm motion generator is developed to present various mechanical impedance characteristics to an operator. An introduction of virtual reality provides not only a visual effect in virtual environment but also the change in force synchronized with the visual effect in real time.

  • This research aimed 1) to analyze the relationship between consumer's emotional needs and elements of textile design in the 1st survey 2) to investigate textile design process presently conducted in the industry in the 2nd survey, and 3) to suggest a desirable direction to improve the textile design process based on a comparison of the results obtained from the two surveys. A description system and an emotion model on textile design were redeveloped as research devices in this study. In the 1st survey, total 600 respondents were sampled and asked to report their emotional response on 50 representative types of textile design, on a emotion measurement scale. The data set obtained from the 1st survey were statistically analyzed. In the 2nd survey, a depth interview was applied to qualitatively analyze the textile design process presently conducted in the industry. The results from the two surveys were compared.

  • A driver's emotion is a very important factor of safe driving. This paper classified a driver's emotion into 3 major emotions, can be occur when driving a car: Surprise, Joy, Tired. And It evaluated the classifier using Hidden Markov Models, which have observation sequence as bio-signals. It used the 2-D emotional plane to classfiy a human's general emotion state. The 2-D emotional plane has 2 axes of pleasure-displeasure and arsual-relaxztion. The used bio-signals are Galvanic Skin Response(GSR) and Heart Rate Variability(HRV), which are easy to acquire and reliable. We classified several moving pictures into 3 major emotions to evaluate our HMM system. As a result of driving simulations for each emotional situations, we can get recognition rates of 67% for surprise, 58% for joy and 52% for tired.

  • The main purpose of this study was to investigate preschoolers understanding whether thinking influences emotion with cognitive cueing. The subjects were 75 preschoolers of the J, Y, & K kindergartens located in Taegu. They were 4-(12 boys and 13 girls), 5-(12 boy and 13 girls), and 6-years(13 boys and 12 girls) old. The instruments were 4 stories and 11 pictures per a story used in Lagattuta, Wellman & Flavell(1997). The responses given from preschoolers were classified in terms of cognitive cueing response. The major results showed that an initial understanding of cognitive cueing in some preschoolers revealed the evidence of significantly developmental changes during the preschool years. Cognitive cueing responses were significantly different according to thinking prompt which is the question to help preschoolers explanations. This result suggested that the instruments of measurement for preschoolers should be improved as possible as they can understand.

  • To do this study, we produced cooling vest newly. Rectal temperature was ascended approximately from 37.2$^{\circ}C$ to 38.05$^{\circ}C$ in lab, but wearing cooling vest, the temperature was descended 0.2 while wearing developed product compare with existing product. Mean skin temperature which was showed distribution from 32.8∼36.5$^{\circ}C$, it was descended 1.0∼1.1$^{\circ}C$, while wearing cooling vest and comparing with existing product, wearing developed product was lower 0.5$^{\circ}C$, While wearing developed product, it was found that they had lower tendency than exiting product. Specifically in case of temperature within clothing(chest) 0.2∼2.0$^{\circ}C$ in case of humidity within clothing 2∼8% RH. Facts from above we confirmed that clothing microclimate had been improved and space was happened between body and garment in order to control. In subjective sensation, existing product made negative response during experiment period from participants, but developed product was nearing to comfortable area.
