본 연구에서는 미세먼지에 대한 신문 기사의 시대별, 신문사별 특징을 살펴보고 있다. 이를 위하여 빅카인즈에서 1995년 이후 주요 신문사들의 관련 기사를 추출하였고 텍스트마이닝, 감성분석, 회귀분석을 활용하였다. 그 결과, 2010년 이전에는 대기오염도 측정 단어나 국내 오염원 관련 단어가 많이 등장했으나 2010년대에 들어서면서 "중국"이 큰 빈도로 나타났으며 정책적 대응, 미세먼지가 건강에 미치는 영향, 관련 제품에 대한 광고·홍보, 국내 오염원에 관한 기사까지 다양한 주제의 기사가 등장했다. 중앙일보, 한겨레, 경향신문은 상대적으로 정부의 정책이나 규제와 관련된 기사가 많은 반면, 대부분의 지역지에서는 지역 자체의 배출원 및 저감대책에 관한 기사가 많았다. 본 연구 결과는 미세먼지 관련 언론보도의 추이를 살필 수 있는 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있으리라 기대한다. 향후 포스트코로나 시대의 국내 미세먼지의 상황과 관련 기사의 트렌드를 추가적으로 비교, 검토할 수 있을 것이다.
본 연구에서는 3 수종(이태리 포플러, 소나무, 굴참나무재)을 공차별(0, 0.15, 0.3, 0.45 mm)로 초산비닐 수지와 레소시놀-페놀 공축합 수지를 이용하여 접합 제작하였다. 휨시험에서 핑거공차에 따라서 검출되는 AE와 휨강도성능 특성을 살펴본 결과는 다음과 같았다. 레소시놀재의 AE파 발생시기가 초산재보다 빨랐으며, 레소시놀재의 AE파 사상총수는 하중의 증가와 함께 계속적으로 증가하였으며 총발생 사상총수도 초산재보다 휠씬 많이 나타났다. 또한, 레소시놀재의 AE파 사상총수는 낮은 하중에서도 많은 개수가 발생하였다. 비례한도 내에서도 레소시놀 접착제를 사용한 경우에는 많은 AE파가 검출되었다. 따라서 레소시놀 접착제로 접착한 핑거 접합재의 휨시험으로부터 얻은 AE 신호는 핑거공차에 따른 접합재의 강도 예측이나 보증에 이용 가능할 것으로 판단되었다.

Fucoidan extracted from brown seaweed has a variety of biological activities. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) formation is an immune response for the invasion of pathogens. Neutrophils release granule protein and chromatin that form extracellular fibers that bind microbes. These NETs degrade virulence factors and kill bacteria. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of fucoidan on NET formation of porcine peripheral blood polymorphonuclear cells (PMNs). The NET formation was determined by fluorescence emission of propidium iodide (PI) in PMNs by a fluorescence microplate reader. The production of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) was measured by ELISA method. Fucoidan itself did not show any direct effect on NET formation. However, NET formation of PMNs was increased by the culture supernatant from PBMCs treated with fucoidan. The NET formation of PMNs were also enhanced by treatment with recombinant porcine (rp) TNF-α. The ability of culture supernatant from PBMCs treated with fucoidan to increase the NET formation of PMNs was inhibited by addition of goat anti-rp TNF-α polyclonal antibody (pAb) (IgG) prior to the culture. The increase of NET formation by rp TNF-α was also inhibited by goat anti-rp TNF-α pAb (IgG). The level of TNF-α in culture supernatant from PBMCs was increased by treatment with fucoidan. These results suggest that fucoidan increases porcine NET formation, which is mediated by TNF-α produced from PBMCs.
Plasma-resistant ceramic (PRC) is a material used to prevent internal damage in plasma processing equipment for semiconductors and displays. The challenge is to suppress particles falling off from damaged surfaces and increase retention time in order to improve productivity and introduce the latest miniaturization process. Here, we confirmed the effect of suppressing plasma deterioration and reducing the etch rate through surface treatment of existing PRC with an initial illumination level of 200 nm. In particular, quartz glass showed a decrease in etch rate of up to 10%. Furthermore, it is believed that micro-scale secondary particles formed on the microstructure of each material grow as crystals during the fluoridation process. This is a factor that can act as a killer defect when dropped, and is an essential consideration when analyzing plasma resistance. The plasma etching suppression effect of the initial illumination is thought to be due to partial over etching at the dihedral angle of the material due to the sputtering of re-emission of Ar+-based cations. This means that plasma damage due to densification can also be interpreted in existing PRC studies. The research results are significant in that they present surface treatment conditions that can be directly applied to existing PRC for mass production and a new perspective to analyze plasma resistance in addition to simple etching rates.
Objectives: Abrupt changes in air pollution levels associated with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak present a unique opportunity to evaluate the effects of air pollution on influenza risk, at a time when emission sources were less active and personal hygiene practices were more rigorous. Methods: This time-series study examined the relationship between influenza cases (n=22 874) and air pollutant concentrations from 2018 to 2021, comparing the timeframes before and during the COVID-19 pandemic in and around Thailand's Khon Kaen province. Poisson generalized additive modeling was employed to estimate the relative risk of hospitalization for influenza associated with air pollutant levels. Results: Before the COVID-19 outbreak, both the average daily number of influenza hospitalizations and particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of 2.5 ㎛ or less (PM2.5) concentration exceeded those later observed during the pandemic (p<0.001). In single-pollutant models, a 10 ㎍/m3 increase in PM2.5 before COVID-19 was significantly associated with increased influenza risk upon exposure to cumulative-day lags, specifically lags 0-5 and 0-6 (p<0.01). After adjustment for co-pollutants, PM2.5 demonstrated the strongest effects at lags 0 and 4, with elevated risk found across all cumulative-day lags (0-1, 0-2, 0-3, 0-4, 0-5, and 0-6) and significantly greater risk in the winter and summer at lag 0-5 (p<0.01). However, the PM2.5 level was not significantly associated with influenza risk during the COVID-19 outbreak. Conclusions: Lockdown measures implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic could mitigate the risk of PM2.5-induced influenza. Effective regulatory actions in the context of COVID-19 may decrease PM2.5 emissions and improve hygiene practices, thereby reducing influenza hospitalizations.
As awareness of environmental pollution problems increases worldwide, interest in air pollutants is increasing. In particular, NOx and PM, which are major pollutants in diesel vehicles, are contributing significantly to emissions. As a result, its importance is increasing. In this study, based on research results applied to large diesel vehicles, the problem of natural regeneration caused by low exhaust gas temperature during low speed and low load operation is solved by applying a complex regeneration DPF that is not affected by temperature conditions to small diesel vehicles. The feasibility of application to small diesel vehicles was reviewed by measuring the emission reduction efficiency. As a result of the engine test, the power reduction rate and fuel consumption rate before and after device installation under full load conditions were 2.9% decrease and 3.5% increase, respectively, satisfying the standard for a 5% reduction, and as a result of the regeneration equilibrium temperature (BPT) test, the regeneration temperature was 310℃. appeared at the level. The reduction efficiency test results for the actual vehicle durability test equipment showed 97.3% PM, 51.0% CO, and 31.1% HC, while the city commuter vehicle had PM 97.5%, CO 61.7%, HC 40.0%, and the school bus vehicle had PM 96.8%, CO 44.4%, HC 34.3%, and low-speed logistics vehicles showed a reduction efficiency of 98.2% for PM, 36.0% for CO, and 45.7% for HC. Based on the results of this study, in the future, it is necessary to secure DPF technology suitable for all vehicle types through actual vehicle application research on temperature condition-insensitive composite regenerative DPF for medium-sized vehicles.
Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) causes a devastating bacterial leaf blight in rice. Here, the antimicrobial effects of ᴰ-limonene, ᴸ-limonene, and its oxidative derivative carveol against Xoo were investigated. We revealed that carveol treatment at ≥ 0.1 mM in liquid culture resulted in significant decrease in Xoo growth rate (> 40%) in a concentration-dependent manner, and over 1 mM, no growth was observed. The treatment with ᴰ-limonene and ᴸ-limonene also inhibited the Xoo growth but to a lesser extent compared to carveol. These results were further elaborated with the assays of motility, biofilm formation and xanthomonadin production. The carveol treatment over 1 mM caused no motilities, basal level of biofilm formation (< 10%), and significantly reduced xanthomonadin production. The biofilm formation after the treatment with two limonene isomers was decreased in a concentration-dependent manner, but the degree of the effect was not comparable to carveol. In addition, there was negligible effect on the xanthomonadin production mediated by the treatment of two limonene isomers. Field emission-scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) unveiled that all three compounds used in this study cause severe ultrastructural morphological changes in Xoo cells, showing shrinking, shriveling, and holes on their surface. Moreover, quantitative real-time PCR revealed that carveol and ᴰ-limonene treatment significantly down-regulated the expression levels of genes involved in virulence and biofilm formation of Xoo, but not with ᴸ-limonene. Together, we suggest that limonenes and carveol will be the candidates of interest in the development of biological pesticides.
해운 부문의 배출량이 지구 기후 변화 논쟁에서 큰 역할을 한다는 데는 폭넓은 합의가 있다. 이론적으로는 업계가 온실가스 배출을 줄이기 위해 단호한 조치를 취하고 지구 온난화에 대응하기 위해 자신의 역할을 다해야 한다는 광범위한 공감대가 형성되어 있다. 미국은 선박의 배출 문제를 해결하는 데 큰 진전을 이루었지만 해운 산업의 글로벌 표준을 형성하는데 중요한 역할을 하는 것은 IMO이다. 그리고 한국의 경우 배출문제에 대한 법 제정 등이 준비되었지만 여전히 행정력에서 문제를 보이고 있다. 앞에서 살펴본 IMO의 높은 수준의 비전제시 및 변화는 업계 대표자들의 강도 높은 노력을 요구하며 실행 책임을 지고 있는 정부로 하여금 강도 높은 조치를 요구하고 있다. 규제와 해운시장의 입장을 고려할 필요가 있다. 하지만 지구 기후 변화의 긴급한 현실에 대한 배려와 존중을 위해 선박 소유자, 운영자 및 지주 회사는 새로운 규제 체제를 기다리는 대신 GHG 배출을 줄이기 위한 자발적인 조치를 취해야 할 것이다.
육용오리 사료에 대한고령토의 추가 첨가 급여가 육용오리의 능력, 시험사료의 영양소 이용율, 배설물의 수분과 유해 가스발생량 및 생산물의 품질 등에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여, 육용오리 사료에 고령토를 0, 1, 2, 3 및 $4\%$씩 추가로 첨가하는 5개 처리에 200수의 육용오리 초생추를 공시하여 6주간 시험한 결과는 다음과 같다. 6주령 체중과 $0\~6$주간 증체량은 고령토 $1\~2\%$ 첨가구가 가장 많았고$(p<0.05),\;3\~4\%$ 첨가구는 감소하여 대조구와 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 1수당 평균 사료섭취량과 kg 증체당 사료 요구율은 고령토의 추가첨가수준이 증가할수록 증가하는 경향을 보였으나 처리간에 유의적인 차이는 없었다. 6주간의 폐사율은 처리간에 유의적인 차이가 없었고, 도체율은 고령토 $1\%$ 첨가구가 가장 높았고 $4\%$ 첨가구가 가장 낮았으나$(p<0.05),\;4\%$첨가구를 제외한 나머지 첨가구들은 대조구와 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 시험사료의 영양소중 조지방 이외의 다른 영양소들의 이용율은 고령토 $2\~4\%$ 첨가구들이 대조구나 $1\%$ 첨가구에 비해 유의적으로 높았다(p<0.05). 배설물의 수분 함량 및 암모니아가스 발생량은 처리간에 유의적인 차이가 없었으나, 황화수소 가스는 고령토 $2\~4\%$ 첨가구들이 대조구나 $1\%$ 첨가구에 비해 유의적으로 낮았다 (p<0.05). 육용오리의 다리살과 가슴살의 콜레스테롤 함량은 고령토 $3\~4\%$ 첨가구에서 감소되는 경향이었으나 처리간에 유의적인 차이는 없었다. 육용오리의 육질을 평가하기 위하여 산도(pH), 보수력(WHC), 지방산패도(TBARS), 과산화물가(POV) 및 가열감량(Cooking loss)등을 조사하였으나 처리간에 유의적인 차이가 없거나 일정한 경향을 보이지 않았다.
