  • As the paradigm of future vehicles changes, the interest in automotive semiconductor, which plays a key role in realizing this, is increasing. Automotive semiconductors are the technology with very high entry barriers that require a lot of effort and time because it must secure technology readiness level and also consider safety and reliability. In this technology field, it is very important to develop new businesses and create opportunities through technology trend analysis. However, systematic analysis and application of automotive semiconductor technology trends are currently lacking. In this paper, U.S. registered patent documents related to automotive semiconductor were collected and investigated based on the patent's IPC. The main technology of automotive semiconductor was analyzed through topic modeling, and the technology path such as emerging technology was investigated through cosine similarity. We identified that those emerging technologies such as driving control for vehicle and AI service appeared. We observed that as time passed, both convergence and independence of automotive semiconductor technology proceeded simultaneously.

  • Estimation based on current data of construction performances have become one of the critical subjects which many researchers have been interested in for the past decades. In order to accomplish accurate measurement and estimation of construction performances, the method of data collection stands the highest priority. However, there are many difficulties in data collection from construction jobsite due to the characteristics of the construction industry. With developments of new technologies in other industries, several technologies has recently initiated to be applied to construction field. Electronic tags based on the identification technology, automatic volume measurement based on laser scanning technology, and Global Positioning System (GPS) have been represented the technologies which show the high opportunity for being used in construction. This study reviews specific aspects of these technologies focused on the utilization in construction jobsite. Also, the challenges which these technologies need to overcome are discussed.

  • In this paper, we propose a technology mining framework for mobile communication industry. We develop a two phase approach of new technology identification and service enhancement. The new technology identification process consists of R&D issues analysis, technology theme design, and emerging technology sampling. On the other hand, existing service enhancement process has technology landscaping, keyword based search, and technological growth analysis. By implementing these two phase frameworks, we develop a technology portfolio for mobile communication industry.

  • The introduction of molecular markers in genetic analysis has revolutionized medicine. These molecular markers are genetic variations associated with a predisposition to common diseases and individual variations in drug responses. Identification and genotyping a vast number of genetic polymorphisms in large populations are increasingly important for disease gene identification, pharmacogenetics and population-based studies. Among variations being analyzed, single nucleotide polymorphisms seem to be most useful in large-scale genetic analysis. This review discusses approaches for genetic analysis, use of different markers, and emerging technologies for large-scale genetic analysis where millions of genotyping need to be performed.

  • Human biosignals provide essential information for diagnosing diseases such as dementia and Parkinson's disease. Owing to the shortcomings of current clinical assessments, noninvasive solutions are required. Machine learning (ML) on wearable sensor data is a promising method for the real-time monitoring and early detection of abnormalities. ML facilitates disease identification, severity measurement, and remote rehabilitation by providing continuous feedback. In the context of wearable sensor technology, ML involves training on observed data for tasks such as classification and regression with applications in clinical metrics. Although supervised ML presents challenges in clinical settings, unsupervised learning, which focuses on tasks such as cluster identification and anomaly detection, has emerged as a useful alternative. This review examines and discusses a variety of ML algorithms such as Support Vector Machines (SVM), Random Forests (RF), Decision Trees (DT), Neural Networks (NN), and Deep Learning for the analysis of complex clinical data.

  • Many diverse methods have been developing in the field of biometric identification as human-friendliness has been emphasized in the intelligent system's area. One of emerging method is to use human footprint. Automated footprint-based person recognition was started by Nakajima et al.'s research but they showed relatively low recognition result by low spatial resolution of pressure sensor and standing posture. In this paper, we proposed a modified Nakajima's method to use walking footprint which could give more stable toe information than standing posture. Finally, we prove the usefulness of proposed method as 91.4tt recognition rate in 11 volunteers' test.

  • Kinomics is an emerging and promising approach for deciphering kinomes. Chemical kinomics is a discipline of chemical genomics that is also referred to as "chemogenomics", which is derived from chemistry and biology. Chemical kinomics has become a powerful approach to decipher complicated phosphorylation-based cellular signaling networks with the aid of small molecules that modulate kinase functions. Moreover, chemical kinomics has played a pivotal role in the field of kinase drug discovery as it enables identification of new molecular targets of small molecule kinase modulators and/or exploitation of novel functions of known kinases and has also provided novel chemical entities as hit/lead compounds. In this short review, contemporary chemical kinomics technologies such as activity-based protein profiling, T7 kinasetagged phages, kinobeads, three-hybrid systems, fluorescenttagged kinase binding assays, and chemical genomic profiling are discussed along with a novel allosteric Bcr-Abl kinase inhibitor (GNF-2/GNF-5) as a successful application of chemical kinomics approaches.

  • It is becoming increasingly difficult to identify promising technologies due to the influx of new technologies and the high level of complexity involved in many of these technologies. Identifying promising information and communications technology (ICT)-based converging technologies holds the key to finding new sources of economic growth and forward momentum. The goal of this study is to identify cutting-edge ICT-based converging technologies by examining the latest trends in the US patent market. Analyzing the US patent market, the most competitive of such markets in the world, can yield certain clues about which of the ICT-based converging technologies may be the next revolutionary technologies. For a classification of these technologies, this study follows the International Patent Classification system. As for ICT, there are 58 related fields at the subclass level and 831 fields at the main-group level. For emerging and converging technologies, there are 75 at the main-group level. From these technologies, a final selection for cutting-edge ICT-based converging technologies is made using a composite index reflecting the converging coefficient, emerging coefficient, and technology impact index.

  • The development of the fourth industrial revolution and logistics 4.0 related technology, the growth of the e-commerce market, and the transition to a non-face to face society due to the pandemic are accelerating the growth of the logistics industry. Due to the growth of the logistics industry, various services are emerging to meet the requirements of the market, and research and technology development related to the parcel storage, which is an important element of the last mile service, is also underway. In the past, if it was difficult to deliver the goods directly to the recipient, the parcel storage installed near the delivery location was used, but the usability was not good and the storage of the goods was limited. In addition, the existing parcel storage has a lot of functional limitations compared to the advanced logistics technology, so it is necessary to develop a device that improves it. Therefore, this study conducted to secure safety for unmanned parcel storage devices with robot technology to improve usability and functionality in line with the advanced logistics industry. Based on ISO 10218, an industrial robot related standard, risk identification studies were conducted to derive results that contribute to the development of devices under development.

  • High Touch product is characterized by shorter life cycle together with specification/integration of existing function in order to capitalize the rapidly emerging high technology. R & D strategy for a development of High Touch product generally emphasizes two aspects ; Industrial Design (ID) and Ergonomic Design (ED). However, working knowledge on ED of a systematic identification of potential High Touch products is not readily available. The purpose of this study was three-folded : (1) To emphasize the fact that greater efforts should be geared to ED in High Touch design ; (2) To develop an ergonomic approach based on analysis of implicit human needs that identifies potential area of High Touch ; (3) To bubble with new and probable High Touch products in home electronics that actually demonstrate the validity of this study.
