Purpose : This study was performed to develop the curriculum of Emergency Medical technology of College. Method : The authors analyzed curricular of EMT in 12 college in Korea. We conducted the distribution, credit, mean, frequency of liberal arts, majors, teaching profession subject by Kim and Lee(2007). We compared curriculum of knowledge and clinical training courses. Results : The numbers of whole subjects were 59.3 and the number of mean and the credits were 130.8 degree of mean. The numbers of liberal arts were 9.5 number of mean and the credits were 15.5 degree of mean. The numbers of major were 47.5 number of mean and the credits were 111.4 degree of mean. The numbers of teaching profession subject were 1.9 number of mean and the credits were 4 degree of mean. Finally, frequency of curriculum of knowledge and clinical training courses were 57.1% and 42%, respectively. Conclusion : This results will represent curriculum development and will standardize curriculum for EMT collage. in addition, it will make EMT curriculum standardized.
This study was designed to develop e-Learning multimedia contents to provide the first aid rescuer with the basic resuscitation, members of the public, corporations and any other institutions who wish to learn this skills. It is carried out from October to December in 2001. This program was constructed on the basic of the network-instructional system Design model, this model has severalprogressive steps, which includes the planning, analysis of the contents, development of the contents, instructional design, development of web-based and multimedia, pilot test, implement, and evaluation. To make the learning more interesting, as much animation and videos were integrated. In conclusion, this e-Learning multimedia contents will be useful for student as well as members of the public. It significantly increases the chances of saving the life of person who has collapsed.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of flipped learning on self-directed learning and academic achievement in national competence standards (NCS) based physical assistant skills in the emergency medical technology(EMT) students. Methods: One-group pretest-post test design was used. Flipped learning was carried out for 2 hours per week for 16 weeks. A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 56 EMT students from March 3 to June 16, 2016. Data were analyzed by paired t-test and Pearson correlation coefficient using SPSS 18.0 program. Results: After completion of flipped learning, significant improvement was found in self-directed learning(t = 6.04, p < .001), academic achievement($3.25{\pm}.79$) and academic achievement((t = 6.41, p < .001). There was a significant positive correlation among self-directed learning and academic achievement. Conclusion: Flipped learning is useful teaching and learning method to the EMT students.
Purpose: We investigated the motivation of selecting major, the satisfaction of major and the view on occupation of emergency medical technology (EMT) students. The results of study will be used to increase the satisfaction of major of university students. Also, it can be used to support decision of major for high school students. Method: We conducted 1,586 surveys from 665 students at six four-year colleges and 921 students at seven three-year colleges. Our research period was from Aug. 27th to Oct. 31st in 2010. The surveys were analyzed by SPSS 18.0 using description statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe and Pearson correlation coefficient. Result: In our study, the motivation of selecting major is 35.8% of students selected 'good employment prospects', satisfaction of major's $M{\pm}SD$ is $3.15{\pm}.486$, adaptation of major's $M{\pm}SD$ is $3.11{\pm}.472$. The satisfaction of major show difference (t = 4.548 p = .000) by sex, also the adaptation of major show difference (t = 2.279, p = .023) by sex. The satisfaction of major show first grade students higher (F = 3.605, p = .013) than fourth grade students at four-year colleges. If satisfaction of major is high, accumulation evaluation score is high (F = 3.276, p = .011), too. Clinical practice experienced students was higher (t = -2.878, p = .004) than non experienced it satisfaction. In view of occupation, ideal job's factors and actual job's factors a lot of students selected 'aptitude'. Also, there is a statistically significant correlation (r = .618, p = .000) between the satisfaction of major and the adaptation of major. High satisfaction indicates high adaptation of major. Conclusion: In our study satisfaction of major and adaptation of major was very high score. EMT students concern about employment prospects at most. It is inferred that they select job which match with one's aptitude. We can suppose that students select major as a tool for employment by seeing result that a lot of students consider employment prospects at most when they select major. A method to improve the satisfaction and adaptation of major should be developed by realizing problems which occur the dissatisfaction of major. Also, there as on why students conflict between ideal and actual job should be revealed. There as on seems students want stable occupation in unstable job market situation. Therefore, the expansion of job matching aptitude and being stable should be processed. Finally, university should actively support the method that help to finding jobs for student by identifying job preparation of students.
The health and medical service attracts more public attention as the economy of Korea is rapidly growing up and the standard of living is elevated. Especially, the interest and demand on the prehospital emergency medical service that consists of the important part of primary medical service that is directly related to the life of patients are gradually increased. However, as compared with other advanced countries such as America in this area, Korea actually fell behind in the utilization of IT (Information Technology) to maximize the efficiency of emergency service system as well as has a problem in the general service system. This study suggested the necessity to introduce EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) system that takes a great role as the core part in the prehospital emergency medical service that is not systemized in Korea yet. In addition, this study proposed the implementation model of EMD ASP system using ASP (Application Service Provider) in EMD system to flexibly deal with the change of IT and efficient implementation and integration of information system as well as to significantly reduce cost through wire/wireless high speed Internet network that is politically promoted in Korea on the basis of EMD. The system analysis and design was executed by HIPO (Hierarchy Plus Input Process Output) analysis that was the conceptual design technology for EMD information system modeling based on ASP and DFD (Data Flow Diagram). This study proposed DB table configuration and data schema to implement the application of web browser interface in EMD system through ERD(ER-Diagram) of EMD ASP system. Finally, this study described how to implement and utilize EMD information system. This study aims to facilitate the qualitative development of emergency medical service in the future as suggesting the concrete models for the implementation of high value-added prehospital emergency medical information system as applying ASP concept to EMD system of prehospital emergency medical service area.

This study attempted to identify the service satisfaction with the 119 emergency service and the factors that affect it based on the responses of subjects who used the service. Data collection was conducted from February 11 to March 11, 2021, using convenience sampling. A total of 1842 subjects who used emergency medical services using 119 ambulance in 2020 participated. For the collected data, frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation were calculated, and t-test, analysis of variance, and multiple regression analysis were performed using SPSS 23.0. Based on these results, to further enhance the satisfaction of users of the 119 emergency service and the quality of emergency medical services, it is important to improve the quality of paramedics through education and systems. In addition, to increase user satisfaction, efficient and systematic communication education is required. The quality of emergency medical services will increase only when communication skills required for explanations and promoting understanding are improved.
Purpose: This study aimed to assess and improve the work scope of emergency medical technicians (EMT)-paramedics in emergency medical centers. Methods: Data were collected from February 1 to 14, 2018. The questionnaire comprised a total of 56 questions: eight general questions, six questions about the recognition of EMT-paramedics in emergency medical centers, and 42 questions about their work. Data were analyzed via frequency and correlation analysis using SPSS version 18.0. Results: Regarding the work of EMTs in emergency medical centers, positive opinions were found in 23 items, negative opinions in 4 items, and both positive and negative opinions in 9 items. Regarding the questions about the necessity, work importance, professionalism, and the need for an increase4 in EMR-paramedics, depending on respondents' career, there was no statistically significant difference between the group of beginners and the group comprising beginners and that of experienced workers (p>.200). Conclusion: The expert survey revealed that the work performance of EMT-paramedics in regional emergency medical centers was trusted and showed positive results of improvement and expansion.
Health and disease related characteristics of 226 selected by systematic sampling from 452 personal emergency response system(PERS) beneficiaries and actual conditions of using PERS by them are as follows. Over 86% of PERS beneficiaries have not good health conditions and 70.7% of them have chronic diseases. On social supports family was highest as 52.2% and cases having social workers' assistance were 15.2%, but 53 as 23.7% had not visit or call from anyone and showed very low social supports. 86.2% was given PERS within 3years and 79.1% had it by the recommendation from related agencies and 4.0% was by their demand. On wearing it, 78.3% didn't bring it with them and 92% of them answered they were not sick and then it was found that they didn't use it because they had not special emergency. On satisfaction with paging system's operation, 81.3% answered they were satisfied with it, 48.8% used it for 'acute and emergency diseases' and 29.3% called ambulance for 'appointed medical treatment'. Time required for ambulance to arrive at the field was within 10 min. in 87.8% and after 10 min. in 12.2% and emergency service for beneficiaries by fire service was very good. On satisfaction with use of PERS, 85.4% were satisfied with it, 81.9% who requested repair or replacement of radio paging got it back after one or two days of their request and they answered they were satisfied with A/S. 45.5% answered they powered off it because 'they didn't use it' and 12.1% had 'economical reason of phone charge'.
The purpose of this study which was done by questionnaire survey on doctors, paramedics, radio operators, computer technicians, administrators in Emergency Medical Care Information Centers was to analyze demand on EMD education. The significant 101 data were collected in 12 Emergency Medical Care Information Centers from Dec. 17, 2003 to Jan. 31, 2004 and analyzed by using SPSS. The conclusions from this study were summarized as follows. Composition of respondents who work in Emergency Medical Care Information Centers were 40.7% 26-30 years old in age, 56.4% male in sex, 55.6% medical direction in duty, 76.2% paramedics in certificate. 54.5% out of the paramedics had two years present career, 62.3% had one year past career, 31.0% didn't receive EMD education, 39.0% wanted 5-8 hours continuing education. The paramedics received more EMD education on Introduction to Emergency Medical Concepts, Obtaining Information from Callers, Providing Emergency Care Instructions and wanted more continuing education on Providing Emergency Care Instructions, Key Questions & Pre-Arrival Instructions, Obtaining Information from Callers. This study will be helpful to build up an education system for EMDs such as continuing education, curriculum, certification.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of a violent experience and job stress on burnout and to investigate the factors that affect burnout in female 119 emergency medical technicians. Methods: Data from 189 female EMTs were collected using a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using SPSS 23.0. The analyses included descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, analysis of variance, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression. Results: Burnout was positively correlated with a violent experience in female 119 EMTs. Violent experience (β=.39, p<.001) were a significant predictor of burnout in 15.2% of female 119 EMTs. Conclusion: A violent experience is identified as a significant factor affecting burnout in female 119 EMTs. Therefore, it is necessary to impart education to female 119 EMTs on effectively coping with violence.
