Recent years have seen a notable increase in fire incidents in university cafeterias, yet the social attention to these occurrences remains limited. Despite quick responses to these incidents preventing loss of life, the need for large-scale evacuation in such high foot traffic areas can cause significant disruptions, economic losses, and panic among students. The potential for stampedes and unpredictable damage during inadequate evacuations underscores the importance of fire safety and evacuation research in these settings. Previous studies have explored evacuation models in various university environments, emphasizing the influence of environmental conditions, personal characteristics, and behavioral patterns on evacuation efficiency. However, research specifically focusing on university cafeterias is scarce. This paper addresses this gap by employing Pathfinder software to analyze fire spread and evacuation safety in a university cafeteria. Pathfinder, an advanced emergency evacuation assessment system, offers realistic 3D simulations, crucial for intuitive and scientific evacuation analysis. The studied cafeteria, encompassing three floors and various functional areas, often exceeds a capacity of 1500 people, primarily students, during peak times. The study includes constructing a model of the cafeteria in Pathfinder and analyzing evacuation scenarios under different fire outbreak conditions on each floor. The paper sets standard safe evacuation criteria (ASET > RSET) and formulates three distinct evacuation scenarios, considering different fire outbreak locations and initial evacuation times on each floor. The simulation results reveal the impact of the fire's location and the evacuation preparation time on the overall evacuation process, highlighting that fires on higher floors or longer evacuation preparation times tend to reduce overall evacuation time.In conclusion, the study emphasizes a multifaceted approach to improve evacuation safety and efficiency in educational settings. Recommendations include expanding staircase widths, optimizing evacuation routes, conducting regular drills, strengthening command during evacuations, and upgrading emergency facilities. The use of information and communication technology for managing emergencies is also suggested. These measures collectively form a comprehensive framework for ensuring safety in educational institutions during fire emergencies.
The pre-hospital care in site transportation care and site care will be divided, it will follow in site or evacuation it will enforce it will can evacuate in condition of the emergency patient of like this at the initial stage and emergency care from inside fire fighting helicopter back transfer means and the manpower security of the specialty emergency necessary personnel(nursing and 1st EMT's) as the medical treatment agency and modernization of first aid equipment necessity inside American securing and fire fighting helicopter and specialty first aid packet won about lower the emergency care which is appropriate cannot become accomplished are the actual condition in total lack of emergency care equipment. Consequently craving augmentation, in order to be adapted with the handling kind transfer whose specialty and is appropriate and present time of rapid increase and the citizen of emergency demand by fire fighting helicopter simplicity transfer compared to it is a condition where the countermeasure preparation is earnest. Must expand emergency care equipment first even in fire fighting helicopter and 1st EMT's which it follows in him become arrangement and quickly the execution and specialty temporary disposal(ALS) must be enforced a temporary disposal and must buy the life which is. Also every manuals anger it does a helicopter transfer method and the emergency care method back and that all processes must do fixed form anger, it becomes feed. Also it related with a helicopter transfer even from the relationship agency many research to lead, difference of the advanced foreign nation and the maximum it is the actual condition where the medical emergency system construction which it reduces is earnestly demanded. Also with emergency structure(crane) it confronts to an aviation transfer even from the establishment college and education it leads intensively and 1st EMT's of the good quality which relates with an aviation structure expects is cultivate at all.
Purpose: We investigated the motivation of selecting major, the satisfaction of major and the view on occupation of emergency medical technology (EMT) students. The results of study will be used to increase the satisfaction of major of university students. Also, it can be used to support decision of major for high school students. Method: We conducted 1,586 surveys from 665 students at six four-year colleges and 921 students at seven three-year colleges. Our research period was from Aug. 27th to Oct. 31st in 2010. The surveys were analyzed by SPSS 18.0 using description statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe and Pearson correlation coefficient. Result: In our study, the motivation of selecting major is 35.8% of students selected 'good employment prospects', satisfaction of major's $M{\pm}SD$ is $3.15{\pm}.486$, adaptation of major's $M{\pm}SD$ is $3.11{\pm}.472$. The satisfaction of major show difference (t = 4.548 p = .000) by sex, also the adaptation of major show difference (t = 2.279, p = .023) by sex. The satisfaction of major show first grade students higher (F = 3.605, p = .013) than fourth grade students at four-year colleges. If satisfaction of major is high, accumulation evaluation score is high (F = 3.276, p = .011), too. Clinical practice experienced students was higher (t = -2.878, p = .004) than non experienced it satisfaction. In view of occupation, ideal job's factors and actual job's factors a lot of students selected 'aptitude'. Also, there is a statistically significant correlation (r = .618, p = .000) between the satisfaction of major and the adaptation of major. High satisfaction indicates high adaptation of major. Conclusion: In our study satisfaction of major and adaptation of major was very high score. EMT students concern about employment prospects at most. It is inferred that they select job which match with one's aptitude. We can suppose that students select major as a tool for employment by seeing result that a lot of students consider employment prospects at most when they select major. A method to improve the satisfaction and adaptation of major should be developed by realizing problems which occur the dissatisfaction of major. Also, there as on why students conflict between ideal and actual job should be revealed. There as on seems students want stable occupation in unstable job market situation. Therefore, the expansion of job matching aptitude and being stable should be processed. Finally, university should actively support the method that help to finding jobs for student by identifying job preparation of students.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify necessary emergency treatment and nursing activities for severe trauma patients according to elapsed time and vital signs. Methods: A survey was conducted with 121 patients over 15 points ISS on EMR from June 1, 2011 to May 31, 2012. Collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, applying McNemar's test using SPSS 12.0. Results: Almost all of the subjects were men and the mean age was 46.9. Run-time for primary diagnosis, treatment decision, and leaving for the hospital room was 0.19, 4.36, and 4.21 hours, respectively, and stayover time was 9 hours. Regardless of vital signs, emergency treatments involving ambu-bagging, intubation, ventilator, and central vein catheterization insertion were offered within an hour. Central venous pressure, Foley catheter/Levin tube preparation and maintenance were performed in cases of unstable vital sign patients within an hour. Unrelated to vital signs, nursing activities for consciousness assessment, skin assesment and wound care, bed sore/fall down assesment and care, intravenous injection insertion and maintenance were conducted for all severe trauma patients within an hour. Foley catheter/Levin tube drainage care was performed for patients who had unstable vital signs within an hour. Conclusion: Emergency treatment and nursing activities for severe trauma patients were specific according to elapsed time and vital signs.
Purpose: This study aims to assess the influencing factors on the level of satisfaction with clinical training and to provide basic data for more efficient clinical training. Method: The study was conducted on 402 paramedic students who have experienced clinical training from September 6 until October 12 in 2011. The questionnaires consisted of 40 questions. We used SPSS 18.0 frequency analysis, technical statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression analysis. Result: 1. The level of satisfaction with clinical training showed significant difference between the frequency (F=8.837, p=.000) and clinical training managers (F=5.418, p=.001). 2. The level of satisfaction with clinical training showed the strongest positive correlation with the satisfaction of clinical training hospitals (r=.694, p=.000). 3. Multiple regression analysis revealed the most powerful predictor for satisfaction with clinical training was the satisfaction level of clinical training hospitals(48.2%) and the frequency of clinical training experiences(.8%), the preparation before the clinical training(5.4%), the total duration of clinical training(.7%), and the satisfaction of emergency department education(1.0%). These five variables accounted for 56.1% of the satisfaction of clinical training among paramedic students. Conclusion: As student's satisfaction of the clinical training increases, the quality of paramedics is expected to improve in the future. As a result, the future paramedics can be nurtured to be highly skilled in on-the-scene emergency situations after graduation.
Purpose: This study was to understand actual state of supportive behavior of parents and nurses during invasive procedure for children who visit emergency medical center. The purpose of this research was to investigate the perception of financial risks and expenditures for insurance by household characteristics. Data were collected from 598 housewives by online survey on Dec., 2001. Results indicated that respondents had perceived the risk of unemployment most among three types of risks. Household characteristics reflecting financial needs in emergency case had positive effects on the perception of risks, and hence the expenditures for insurance, in general. On the other hand, the level of emergency preparation had negative effects on the perception of risks and the expenditures for insurance. However, only credit-related risk had a positive relationship with the expenditures for insurance.
