A FSK Radio-telemetry System for Monitoring Vital Signs in UHF Band (UHF 대역 FSK에 의한 생체신호 무선 전송장치의 개발)

  • This paper presents a radio-telemetry patient monitor. which is used for intensive cal?e units. emergency and surgical operation rooms to monitor continuously patients' vital signs. The radio-telemetry patient monitor consists of a vital sign acquisition unit. wireless data transmission units and a vital sign-monitoring unit. The vital sign acquisition unit amplifies biological signals, performs analog signal to serial digital data conversion using the one chip micro-controller. The converted digital data is modulated FSK in UHF band using low output power and transmitted to a remote site in door. In comparison with analog modulation. FSK has major advantages to improve performance with respect to noise resistance with fower error and the potential ability to process and Improve quality of the received data. The vital sign-monitoring unit consists of the receiver to demodulate the modulated digital data, the LCD monitor to display vital signs continuously and the thermal head printer to record a signal.

Real Time Monitoring of Cars during European Rally Championships in Poland in 2005

  • The paper presents the preparations work and experiences gained from realtime GPS car monitoring during the European Rally Championships organized on 10-12 June 2005 in Poland. The developed system is based on GPS and GSM/GPRS technology. Distribution and teletransmission of data are possible using different GSM operators in Poland, which makes the system fully independent. The system's server collects data from rally cars, processing and send data through VPN connections to the SQL server located in main control room. Data can be collected in real time via Internet or GPRS. Some information on GSM/GPRS range during rally championships are also presented in the paper. The study covered many trials and tests of different software and various configurations of the GPRS modems before finally the system started to work. Information coming from 10 Rally Cars were collected to the SQL Server continuously in one second interval. In real time mode these all data were displayed simultaneously in the rally main control room and in the rally press conference room. Paper describes also adopted emergency procedures and remote reconfiguration of GPS/GPRS boxes inside rally cars made during championships. Some problems and method of practical solutions are presented to avoid active jamming dangerous for a driver and his pilot, having system of communication intercoms jammed by teletransmission of GPRS 900/1800 MHz. In cooperation with rally teams special GPS/GPRS safety boxes were designed and made. Monitoring of all 7 rally stages with GPS receivers and method of calibrations of the maps were presented. GSM signal coverage was also checked in all stages. All data transmitted from rally cars were recorded in the computer. Some of our GPS cars had accidents and dispite them information were continuously sent to server. There is possibility to show in post mission mode the position of chosen cars in our rally application. Some information of best rally cars are presented also in the paper.

  • In accordance with the revision of the Enforcement Regulations of the High-Pressure Gas Safety Management Act in February 2021, from August 27, 2021, the operation status of safety devices such as gas leak detection and alarm devices, emergency shut-off devices and flame detectors installed at hydrogen vehicle charging stations can be monitored in real time. It is transmitted and operated by the computer system managed by Korea Gas Safety Corporations. We intend to share the results of statistical analysis of abnormal signals that have occurred along with the results of the monitoring system construction so that they can be used for the safety management of hydrogen refueling stations, and to seek future safety management directions.

  • Purpose : This study aims to suggest social support composed of organizational support and managerial support would be systematically managed to enhance Disaster Operations Management at Seoul Emergency Operations Center. Method : Emotional labor was used as an independent variable, and organizational commitment was used as a dependent variable to analyze the mediating effects of social support. Results : First, in the aspect of organizational support, the objective evaluation of disaster situation management, disaster situation management emotional labor reduction education and training program development, monitoring of disaster situation management, quality improvement and work imbalance mitigation of firefighters, and emergency coordination managers are needed for systematic work management for emotional labor settlement. Secondly, it is necessary to select competent firefighters in the level of managerial support, to prepare healing measures for structured phased emotional labor for firefighters, and to have counseling competency for managers for emotional labor firefighting officers. Conclusion : In order to improve disaster management ability, education and training programs should be developed to improve organizational commitment based on social support.

  • Monitoring of patients is essential in assuring the safety of sedation in the dental office. The purpose of this study was to explore the utilization and preferences of sedation, utilization of monitoring methods, and the preparation for emergencies during sedation. Members of the Korean Academy of Pediatric Dentistry were surveyed(n=245) from 1998. 10. 1 to 1998. 12. 20 to establish current trends in the use of sedation practices and monitoring methods in Korea. Findings of the survey include: 1. Twenty nine percent of pediatric dentists use sedative agents in their practices. Seventy one percent of pediatric dentists do not use any sedative agents in their practices 2. Thirty nine percent of pediatric dentists who use sedative agents do so without monitoring devices 3. Nitrous oxide inhalation sedation was the most frequently utilized sedation method by pediatric dentists and chloral hydrate was the most frequently utilized sedative by pediatric dentists. Pulse oximeter was the most frequently utilized monitoring method during sedation in dental office. 4. Only twenty eight percent of pediatric dentists obtain the informed consent of the child's legal guardian. 5. Only sixty percent of pediatric dentists prepare for emergencies during sedation.

  • Recently, With explosive national land developments construction fields ate increasing, and slope failures are disastrous when they occur in mountainous area adjoining highways. but public institutions and supervisors, to manage slope need GIS for managing it more quickly and correctly. For manage slope, it is nesessary to use new IT, especially wireless internet. The current domestic population using cell phones exceeded 30 million and the domestic wireless Internet environment has matured, but implementation of mobile technology for government services isnot matured enough. In this paper the author proposed a new system of mobile PPT monitoring for managing slope inspection for Ubiquitous Environment. This new system manages data in real time and reduces human power when applied to current working environments.   • The Public Address and Passenger Information System of Rolling Stock should be able to perform automatic announcements in connection with TCMS(Train Control and Monitoring System), common announcements and emergency announcements for safe operation and the passengers. CCTV(Closed Circuit Television) System also should be able to watch passenger compartment for safety. Those equipments are very important thing for train service and safety. but the installation of equipment is restricted by space, weight, modulation. therefore, Passenger Information Intergrated System(PIIS) is required to consider economical efficiency, technical trend, expansion and space insufficiency. and system based on IP network has to be considered as new PIIS. so PIIS could meet economical efficiency and expansion. and it could go further and share network with TCMS and others.

  • According to the statistical report from National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Korea, the accident rate of closed switchboards in power systems occupies over 40%. In this paper, an integrated sensor module for monitoring the condition of closed switchboards is described. The sensor module monitors electro-magnetic (EM) wave, ultra-violet (UV) ray, heat and smoke generated by electrical discharges or insulation breakdown. The effective detection ranges were decided from experiment results; 100 kHz~10 MHz for EM wave, 220 nm~395 nm for UV ray and 0~$150^{\circ}C$ for heat, respectively. The prototype sensor module includes all functions above-mentioned in one device.

  • Ground settlement has been occurred at asphalt pavement above ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ station passenger way adjacent to ground excavation with SPS method. In this study, emergency inspection has been conducted 4 detailed areas by KISTEC; SPS, sewage box, 50m box in subway, and ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ station. Field description and previous reports have been analyzed with the elapsed years. Not only precise inspection with several NDTs but also stability analysis by FLAC have been performed to estimated the tendency of settlement at sunk pavement area. Additional monitoring system and water analysis from sewage and SPS have been examined to scrutinize the reason and maintenance for settlement.

  • The objective of this research is to investigate usage of 3KW photovoltaic-wind power hybrid generation system composed of 500W solar power generator and 400W wind power generator in a parallel circuit. In addition, solar radiation meter and wind monitor have been installed into each generation system to obtain the practical operating data that monitored in monthly, daily and hourly. These data that are independent to weather change and location would provide adequate generation output on average and cope with emergency situation in generation system In conclusion, based on this study, it could be considered for 3KW combined generation system to be gradually propagated to houses and small-size public facilities.
