Implementation of an Embedded Image Stabilization Control System for a Small Digital Camera (소형 디지털 카메라의 손떨림 보정 기능을 위한 임베디드 제어 시스템의 구현)

  • This paper presents the design and implementation of an embedded image stabilization control system for a mobile phone with a built-in camera. Image stabilization is a family of techniques for reducing image blur resulting from minute camera shake due to hand-held shooting, thereby allowing the use of shutter speeds slower than values normally required to obtain sharp images. A mechanical image stabilizer mechanism developed for a camera mobile phone is introduced and a digital control system as a part of the image stabilization system is designed and implemented on an 8-bit microcontroller with integer arithmetic in C. This paper focuses primarily on issues that need to be taken into consideration for fixed-point implementation of the digital controller. Several experimental results are presented to demonstrate the performance of the implemented image stabilization control system.

  • Now the CAN(controller Area Network) is using electronic modules as a serial communication which is very robust to noise. Especially the CAN is using for automotive part that very popular in which automotive electronic control module, engine controller unit, sensor modules, etc. but the CAN has the order of priority to linking node and also has fault confinement so using in these features that is applied to in factory automation product line. The CAN communication is basically very robust to electric noise so varied applying to others part. In this paper, we suggest to CAN interface for embedded system that is possible for error detection using two CAN nodes on Hi-speed, full-CAN.

  • In this paper, we suggest the criticality of Hidden Failure with regard to the design of watch dog timer, used to detect HALT on railway signaling embedded controller, via FMEA and FTA. Hidden Failure means reliability and safety degradation of the system due to any failure occurred on elements added for fault tolerance. In this paper, therefore, we design vital watch dog timer to prevent the system from operating in low SIL conditions and assess the safety of circuit on failure occurrence to demonstrate that safety degradation problems owing to existing design are supplemented.

  • This paper presents a design and simulation of bi-directional DC/DC boost converter for a fuel cell system. In this paper, we analyze the equivalent model of both a boost converter and a buck converter. Also we propose the controller of bi-directional DC-DC converter, which has buck mode of charging a capacitor and boost mode of discharging a capacitor. In order to design a controller, we draw bode plots of the control-to-output transfer function using specific parameters and incorporate 3pole-2zero compensator in a closed loop. As a result, it has increased PM(Phase Margin) for better dynamic performance. The proposed bi-directional DC-DC converter's 3pole-2zero compensation method has been verified with computer simulation and simulation results obtained demonstrates the validity of the proposed control scheme.

  • The complexity of flash memory based storage systems is high due to diverse host interfaces and other design choices such as mapping granularity, flash memory controller execution models and so on. Thus, it is possible that the actual performance after implementation is not consistent with the target performance. This paper demonstrates that the performance prediction of flash memory based storage systems is possible through performance modeling that takes into account various design parameters. In the performance modeling, the FTL, which is the core element of flash memory based storage systems, is modeled as a set of (copy-on-write) logs and their interactions. Also, the flash memory controller is modeled based on the classification proposed in the design of the Ozone flash controller. In this study, the performance model has been implemented using Simulink and experimental results are presented and analyzed.

  • In This paper the embedded linux based embedded control system was used and the tracking antenna system was studied for data link and communication between moving vehicles. A microprocessor based embedded controller is equipped with SA-1110 board and this embedded controller can control the azimuth and the elevation angle of the antenna. The relative position and attitude for pointing are calculated by using the GPS position signals from the moving vehicle. To verify the performance of the designed embedded antenna system, the orbit information of the Arirang satellite(from KARI) is used.

  • An Augmented Reality(AR) provides virtual information with a real environment, and the processor needs to access the memory for the AR system. However, the processor has the heavy workload as the technology improvement leads to increase the size of data. We need a specific module to reduce the workload to overcome the limitation. In this paper, we propose a Direct Memory Access(DMA) controller displaying image instead of the processor. We implemented the proposed DMA controller on a Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) and demonstrated the functionality of the DMA controller based on an Avalon Memory Mapped(Avalon-MM) interface. Also, the DMA controller is fabricated by using Magnachip/Hynix 0.35um CMOS technology and verified the feasibility of the embedded system.

  • A number of automotive electronics-safety, driver assistance, and infotainment devices-have been deployed in recent vehicles. This raises new challenges regarding in-vehicular network arbitration. A performance analysis of non-destructive arbitration has revealed a fairness issue. The arbitration prioritizes without collisions, despite multiple simultaneous transmissions; however, the performances of the highest priority node and the lowest priority node are very different. In this paper, an ID-rotation arbitration method to solve the arbitration-fairness problem is proposed. The proposed algorithm was applied to several engine control units (ECUs), including a controller area network (CAN) controller. Experimental results showed that the algorithm improved the fairness as well as the total throughput within a specific performance constraint.

  • A hybrid vibration control scheme using ER fluid and PZT patches is proposed. Dynamic characteristics of the beam embedded with the ER fluid can be controled by changing the strength of the electric field applied on the ER fluid, thus provides a mean to avoid the resonance. It was found that active vibration control of the structure embedded with ER fluid failed to suppress the vibration excited with broad band frequency due to the limited change of the dynamic characteristics of the structure. To compensate this limited effect of the control scheme with ER fluid alone, PPF control using PZT patches as sensors and actuators is added to construct a hybrid controller. Experimental results suggests that proposed hybrid controller is effective to suppress the additional resonance vibration that appears when each controller is used alone.

  • This paper describes the steering control and geomagnetism cancellation for an autonomous mobile robotusing MR sensors. The magnetic-resistive (MR) sensor obtains the vector summation of the magnetic fields from embedded magnets and the Earth. The robot is controlled by the magnetic fields from embedded magnets. So, geomagnetism is the disturbance in the steering control system. In this paper, we propose a new method of the sensor arrangement in order to remove the geomagnetism and robotbody interference. The proposed method uses two MR sensors located in a level plane and the steering controller has been developed.
