  • This paper presents the development of specialized software for annotating volume-of-interest on 18F-FDG PET/CT images with the goal of facilitating the studies and diagnosis of head and neck cancer (HNC). To achieve an efficient annotation process, we employed the SE-Norm-Residual Layer-based U-Net model. This model exhibited outstanding proficiency to segment cancerous regions within 18F-FDG PET/CT scans of HNC cases. Manual annotation function was also integrated, allowing researchers and clinicians to validate and refine annotations based on dataset characteristics. Workspace has a display with fusion of both PET and CT images, providing enhance user convenience through simultaneous visualization. The performance of deeplearning model was validated using a Hecktor 2021 dataset, and subsequently developed semi-automatic annotation functionalities. We began by performing image preprocessing including resampling, normalization, and co-registration, followed by an evaluation of the deep learning model performance. This model was integrated into the software, serving as an initial automatic segmentation step. Users can manually refine pre-segmented regions to correct false positives and false negatives. Annotation images are subsequently saved along with their corresponding 18F-FDG PET/CT fusion images, enabling their application across various domains. In this study, we developed a semi-automatic annotation software designed for efficiently generating annotated lesion images, with applications in HNC research and diagnosis. The findings indicated that this software surpasses conventional tools, particularly in the context of HNC-specific annotation with 18F-FDG PET/CT data. Consequently, developed software offers a robust solution for producing annotated datasets, driving advances in the studies and diagnosis of HNC.

  • The purpose of this paper is to present how to implement Segment_LCD display using SoC design. The SoC design is achieved by using an ARM_based Excalibur device. The Excalibur device offers an outstanding embedded development platform with ARM922T and FPA. The design in the Excailbur device uses the embedded AR띤 Processor core and the AMBA high-performance bus (AHH) to write to a memory-mapped slave peripheral in the FPGA portion of the device. Here, Segment_LCD is one kind of memory-mapped slave peripherals. In order to Implement the Segment_LCD display based on SoC design, four steps are fellowed. At first, IP modules are made by using Verilog HDL. Secondly, the ARM processor of the Excalibur is programmed using C in ADS (ARM Developer Suite). And in the third step, the whole system is simulated and verified. At last, modules are downloaded to SoCMaster kit. Both Quartus II software and ModelSim5.5e software are the key software tools during the design.

  • It is inevitable to control the systematic failure to obtain the software safety integrity of embedded software installed in rolling stock. Because it is not possible to assess systematic failure integrity by quantitative methods, SILs are used to group documentation, methods, tools and techniques throughout software development lifecycle which, when used effectively, are considered to provide an appropriate level of confidence in the realization of a system to a stated integrity level. Normally, safety approval process is through generic product, generic application and specification application for. For safety approval on generic application of software based system, it is required to apply the certified software processes from the planning stage for the assigned SIL. As such, we will develop project specific application with high safety integrity within time limit of contractual delivery schedule through software assessment to the modified area with the re-use of certified software module and documentation. At this point, Hyundai Rotem has developed software processes applicable to support SIL 4 based on EN50128 which was assessed and certified by TUV SUD. This paper introduces the Hyundai Rotem's detailed approach and prospective action to achieve software safety integrity level.

  • Software-In-the-Loop Simulation(SILS) and Rapid Control Prototyping(RCP) are proposed as an integrated development environment to support the development process from system design to implementation. SILS is an environment used to simulate control systems with temporal behavior. RCP offers seamless phase shift from design to implementation based on automatic code generation. There are several toolsets that support control system design and analysis. A few of these tools generate the control software automatically. However, most of these design toolsets do not cover temporal behavior which appears after implementation. In earlier toolsets, the design and the implementation of a control system are considered as two separate processes which mean the conventional development process is not connected strictly. SILS/RCP environments work under an identical platform and use the same representation for system modeling. An integrated SILS/RCP environment makes it possible to design controllers under conditions similar to real execution during off-line simulation and to realize controllers in the early design phase. SILS/RCP environments integrate the design and implementation phases which reduce the time-to-market and provide greater performance-assured design. The establishment of SILS/RCP and the practical design approaches are presented.

  • Simulation tools help creating a low cost and efficient development of embedded system. SID is an open source simulator software that consists library of components for modelling hardware and software components. A component can be written in C/C++ and Tcl/Tk. Currently, the SID simulation toolkit only provides support for C++ and Tcl/Tk. Tcl/Tk is used to write GUI-based components. However, we have observed that Tcl/Tk components cause slow simulation response because Tcl/Tk is a script language. It is not proper for developing the cutting-edge products with rich graphics. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest Java to a new language for GUI components in SID by developing a bridge module for SID to interworking with Java components.

  • Recently, robotic automation in clinical laboratory becomes of keen interest as a fusion of bio and robotic technology. In this paper, we present a new robotic platform for clinical tests suitable for small or medium sized laboratories using mobile robots. The mobile robot called Mobile Agent is designed as transfer system of blood samples, reagents, microplates, and any instruments. Also, the developed mobile agent can perform diverse tests simultaneously based on its cooperative and distributed ability. The driving circuits for the mobile agent are embedded in the robot, and each mobile agent communicates with other agents by using Bluetooth communication. The RFID system is used to recognize patient information. Also, the magnetic hall sensor is embedded to remove and compensate the cumulated error of locomotion at the bottom of mobile agent. The proposed mobile agent can be easily used for various applications because it is designed to be compatible with general software development tools. The Mobile agents are manufactured, and feasibility of the robot and localization of the agents using magnetic hall sensor are validated by preliminary experiments.

  • According to the development and expansion of software and hardware about recent information technologies(IT), disabled persons in using IT seem to feel more information gap. Devices for IT are important tools for users including disabled persons to communicate with each other and get information. Although the Korea faces ageing society rapidly, products for disabled persons are seldom shown in time for use. As getting older especially, one of the body function disorders is visual disturbance. There are tools, braille lettering, for disabled persons with visual disturbance to communicate or get information from book. Compared to general books, however, braille lettering book is lack of including all of information of our society. Therefore, in this paper, we implement and show an embedded system for disabled person with visual disturbance to get information by scanning text, extγacting characters and converting the text to speech automatically.

SEED(Software Engineering Environment for Development)는 효율적인 소프트웨어 개발과 프로세스 모형의 수행을 제어하기 위해 ETRI에서 개발된 PSEE이다. Abstract Process-centered Software Engineering Environments(PSEEs) support software development activities through the enaction of process models, providing a variety of activities such as supply of various information for software developers, automation of routine tasks, invocation and control of software development tools, and enforcement of mandatory rules and practices. The SEED(Software Engineering Environment for Development) system is a PSEE which was developed for effective software process development and controlling the enactment of process models by ETRI.In this paper, we describe the implementation of the SimFlex process programming language used to design process models in SEED, and its runtime support system called by SEED Engine. SimFlex is a software process programming language to describe process models with simple language constructs, and it could be embedded into other PSEEs through appropriate customization. The SimFlex compiler analyzes process models described by SimFlex, check errors in the models, and produce intermediate process models referenced by the SEED Engine. Using the intermediate process models, the SEED Engine provides automatic enactment of the process models described by SimFlex as well as useful information for agents linked to the external monitoring tool. With the help of the SimFlex language and its runtime support system, we can reduce cost and time in modeling software processes and perform convenient project management, producing well-qualified software products.

  • Driving simulators provide engineers with a power tool in the development and modification stages of vehicle models. One of the most important factors to realistic simulations is the fidelity obtained by a motion bed and a real-time visual image generation algorithm. Virtual reality technology has been widely used to enhance the fidelity of vehicle simulators. This paper develops the virtual environment for such visual system as head-mounted display for a vehicle driving simulator. Virtual vehicle and environment models are constructed using the object-oriented analysis and design approach. Based on the object model, a three-dimensional graphic model is completed with CAD tools such as Rhino and Pro/ENGINEER. For real-time image generation, the optimized IRIS Performer 3D graphics library is embedded with the multi-thread methodology. The developed software for a virtual driving simulator offers an effective interface to virtual reality devices.

  • The demands of increasingly complicated software have led to the proliferation of object-oriented design methodologies in embedded systems. To execute a system designed with objects in target hardware, a task set should be derived from the objects, representing how many tasks reside in the system and which task processes which event arriving at an object. The derived task set greatly influences the responsiveness of the system. Nevertheless, it is very difficult to derive an optimal task set due to the discrepancy between objects and tasks. Therefore, the common method currently used by developers is to repetitively try various task sets. This paper proposes Scenario-based Implementation Synthesis Architecture (SISA) to solve this problem. SISA encompasses a method for deriving a task set from a system designed with objects as well as its supporting development tools and run-time system architecture. A system designed with SISA not only consists of the smallest possible number of tasks, but also guarantees that the response time for each event in the system is minimized. We have fully implemented SISA by extending the ResoRT development tool and applied it to an existing industrial PBX system. The experimental results show that maximum response times were reduced $30.3\%$ on average compared to when the task set was derived by the best known existing methods.
