PBD가 설치된 연약지반의 원심모형실험에 관한 연구 (A Study on Centrifuge Model Experiments of Soft Soil Ground Installed with PBD)

  • This study is the results of experimental and numerical study on the consolidational behavior of multi-layered soft soil ground installed with plastic board drains (PBD). Centrifuge model tests with a marine clay sampled from field were performed to investigate the consolidational behavior of multi-layered ground where a dredged soil was placed on the soft clay ground and PBDs were installed. Test results were compared with those of numerical analyses, using the 2-D equivalent model previously proposed. From test results, it was found that the amount of consolidation settlement occurred in the original ground due to embankment surcharge loads was in the range of 38% of total settlement in the whole ground. From the results of cone penetration tests executed after finishing the centrifuge model tests, the cone resistance was found to increase with depth. The measured water contents inbetween PBDs were in the ranges of 38~50% and their values tended to increase with increasing the distance between PBDs.

준설매립 초연약지반의 압밀침하 거동 및 계측 사례 (Case history in prediction of consolidation settlement and monitoring)

  • Performance of ground improvement project using prefabricated vertical drains of condition, in which approximately 10m dredged fill overlies original soft foundation layer in the coastal area has been conducted. From field monitoring results, excessive ground settlement compared to predicted settlement in design stage developed during the following one year. In order to predict the final consolidation behavior, recalculation of consolidation settlements and back analysis using observed settlements were conducted. Field monitoring results of surface settlements were evaluated, and then corrected because large shear deformation was occurred by construction events in the early stages of consolidation. To predict the consolidation behavior, material functions and in-situ conditions from laboratory consolidation test were re-analyzed. Using these results, height of additional embankment is estimated to satisfy residual settlement limit and maintain an adequate ground elevation. The recalculated time-settlement curve has been compared to field monitoring results after additional surcharge was applied.

연약지반에서 최종침하량의 예측방법 (Prediction of Final Settlement on Soft Ground)

  • This study was performed of the research for accurate prediction of consolidation settlement at initial consolidation time. In order to analysis the program is developed which is able to analysis behavior of settlement caused by gradual load increment, and simulated consolidation using whole measured settlement data and that from beginning of embankment to end of it. The former result agrees with measured data and the latter it overestimated 13% larger than measured data. It was found the time which takes to be eliminated effect of gradual step load. This method is compared with the results from Asaoka, Hyperbolic and Tan's hyperbolic method respectively Asaoka and Tan's hyperbolic methods we in good agreement with this method. But classical hyperbolic method overestimated about 32%.

Migration of calcium hydroxide compounds in construction waste soil

  • Migration of leachate generated through embankment of construction waste soil (CWS) in low-lying areas was studied through physical and chemical analysis. A leachate solution containing soluble cations from CWS was found to have a pH above 9.0. To determine the distribution coefficients in the alkali solution, column and migration tests were conducted in the laboratory. The physical and chemical properties of CWS satisfied environmental soil criteria; however, the pH was high. The effective diffusion coefficients for CWS ions fell within the range of $0.725-3.3{\times}10^{-6}cm^2/s$. Properties of pore water and the amount of undissolved gas in pore water influenced advection-diffusion behavior. Contaminants migrating from CWS exhibited time-dependent concentration profiles and an advective component of transport. Thus, the transport equations for CWS contaminant concentrations satisfied the differential equations in accordance with Fick's 2nd law. Therefore, the migration of the contaminant plume when the landfilling CWS reaches water table can be predicted based on pH using the effective diffusion coefficient determined in a laboratory test.

절개사면에서의 보강단계별 사면안정성에 대한 해석적 연구 (An Analytical Study of Slope Stability to Reinforcement Stage in Cut Slope)

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate a landslide using the SLOPILE program from the slope reinforced by slope stability systems such as soil nailing and pile. To do this, cutting slope located at Donghae-Highway in Kwangwon-Do was considered. The behavior of slope was monitored for a long term by using instrumentation according to the reinforcement stages. The sequence of reinforcement stages was followed as pile installation, boring, soil nailing installation, anchoring and embankment. The result from this case study shows that the safety factor of slope depends on the reinforcement stage more or less.

  • This study aims at predicting the behavior of saturated soft clayey foundation subjected to earth structure loads such as tidal dike, embankment etc. by using Biot's consolidation equation coupled with elasto-viscoplastic constitutive model. To validate the computer program developed b author, a case study was performed for the site of Kwang-yang steel works improved by sand drain, where since the beginning of the works, field measurements(settlement, lateral displacement and excess pore water pressure) had been accurately achieved. Comparisons between numerical results and observation values were carried out. The main results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. Settlement and lateral displacement between numerical and observation values show satisfactory accordance. 2. As for the exess pre water pressure, numerical results appear to be larger than observation values, which may be due to the existence of sand seams which were not found during soil investigation. 3. Useful data available for failure prediction of soft foundation can be secured by examining lateral displacement, settlement, exess pore water pressure and stress paths.

  • Recently, it has been reported that number of earthquakes was rapidly increased in the Korean Peninsula. According to the interest of seismic analysis, most of construction design must ensure the stability of structure against risks due to earthquake. Therefore, the ground reinforcement and application of seismic standards is necessary and the new structures must secure a stability about Earthquake under the Korea Seismic Analysis Standards. In this study, the 2D numerical analysis was performed to confirm a seismic stability and analysed that behavior of ground and dykes. The numerical seismic response analyses for dykes and its foundation soil were conducted with considering earthquake modes of short-period and long-period, and artificial seismic wave.

  • Many problems in geotechnical engineering such as slop failure, debris flow, ground heaving due to embankment, and lateral flow caused by liquefaction are related to large deformation rather than small deformation. Traditional numerical methods such as finite element and finite difference methods have a difficulty to solve such large deformations because they use grids. A particle method was developed for fluid dynamics. The particle method can solve large deformation problems because it uses particles to discretize differential equations. It can also include soil constitutive model and thus solve soil behavior on various boundary conditions. In this study, a particle method, which is based on particles rather than grids, is introduced and used to simulate large deformation including soil failure. The developed method can be applied for various large deformation problems in geotechnical engineering because it incorporates soil constitutive models.

연약지반상 기초말뚝의 거동 연구 (Study on Behavior of Pile Foundation in Soft Soils)

  • 본 연구에서는 연약지반에 축조된 잔교구조물 강관말뚝기초의 변위 및 응력을 시공단계별로 계측하여 결과를 분석하였다 말뚝의 응력상태는 초기 상태에서 사석투하 등에 의한 압축응력을 받으나, 배면매립이 진행됨에 따라 지반의 측방유동에 의하여 인장응력을 받는 상태로 되었다. 배면매립 및 선행하중 단계에서 급격한 응력의 변화를 보이며, 경사말뚝은 설치방향에 따라 차별화된 응력상태를 보였다. 말뚝수평변위는 매립이전까지는 해상방향으로 약간의 변위가 안정되게 유지되었으나. 매립단계에서 급격하게 변위가 증가하고, 이어 선행하중에 의한 변위가 중첩되어 추가적으로 증가하는 양상을 보였다.

  • 연약지반 상에 도로성토를 시공할 경우 연약지반에는 편재하중이 작용하게 되어 연약지반의 측방유동이나 활동파괴가 종종 발생하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 연약지반에 설치되는 교대말둑기초의 안정성과 말뚝의 거동특성을 파악하는 것이다. 지반의 측방유동으로 인하여 말뚝에 작용하는 수평하중에 대한 기존 연구자들의 연구내용을 파악하고 유한요소해석을 수행하여 교대말뚝기초의 거동특성과 보강효과를 확인하여 측방유동을 받는 교대말뚝기초의 거동을 연구하였다. 압밀도 분석 결과, 압밀 단계에 따라 연약지반 강도증가율에 의해 연약지반의 강도정수인 점착력은 약 1.1~1.8배 증가하였다. 측방유동 검토 결과, 허용수평변위 기준은 3.8 cm를 사용하는 것이 경제적으로나 시공적인 면에서 타당한 것으로 판단되나, 구조물의 중요도 및 지반의 불확실성 등을 고려하여 시공 시 계측을 실시하고 그에 따른 측방유동에 대한 철저한 안전관리가 이루어져야 할 것으로 판단된다.
