The purpose of the present study was to investigate cardiac damage biomarkers after a triathlon race in elite and non-elite athlete groups. Fifteen healthy men participated in the study. Based on performance, they were divided into elite athlete group (EG: n=7) and non-elite athlete group (NEG: n=8). Participants' blood samples were obtained during four periods: before, immediately, 2 hours and 7 days after finishing the race. creatine kinase (CK), creatine kinase-myoglobin (CK-MB), myoglobin, and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) were significantly increased in both groups immediately after, and 2 hours after finishing the race (p<.05). CK, CK-MB, and myoglobin were completely recovered after 7 days (p<.05). Hematocrit (Hct) was significantly decreased in both groups (p<.05) 7 days after the race. LDH was significantly decreased in the EG (p<.05) only 7 days after the race. Homoglobin (Hb) was significantly decreased in the NEG (p<.05) only 2 hours after the race. Although cardiac troponin T (cTnT) was significantly increased in the EG but not in the NEG 2hours after the race (p<.05), there was no group-by-time interaction. cTnT was completely recovered in both groups 7 days after the race. In conclusion, cardiac damage occurs during a triathlon race and, is greater in elite than in non-elite. However, all cardiac damage markers return to normal range within 1 week.
To study on the guideline for high altitude training, physiological changes are considered. The recommanded is to deeply understand for altitude physiology, not to exposure at high for elite athlete, to climb progressively and to train at 3000 .approx. 5300m. Steady altitude exposures should be limited to periods of 2 to 4 weeks. During the training, the intermittent sea level or extremely high trips should be scheduled. It is expected that this study would be contributed to sport trainer, athlete and climber.
The aim of this study was to examine the use of such dietary supplementation practices, opinions, taking period for dietary supplement, and among elite Judoists varying in age and gender. Subjects were recruited from Korea National Team Judoists in elite athlete training centers (Taenuing in Seoul, Korea and surrounding area), a total of 223 elite Judoists (2003y n=34, 2005y n=41, 2006y n=101, 2007y n=30, 2008y n=17). Data were collected from personal interviews with Judoists who participated at the Olympic games, Asian game and World Championship game since 2003-2008. Elite Judoists representing mean age of 2003y (men: 23.5±2.7, women: 22.6±2.4), 2005y (men: 23.4±2.6, women: 22.5±2.3), 2006y (men: 20.3±3.2, women: 21.9±2.4), 2007y (men: 25.3±2.6, women: 22.5±2.8) and 2008y (men: 23.9±3.9) completed a validated questionnaire assessing dietary supplementation practices and opinions. Older Judoists were significantly more likely to report greater dietary supplementation usage; to be advised by oneself; health food store and pharmacy retailers; to decrease taking period days per week and past 6 month. Relative to gender, significant differences were observed for the types of dietary supplementation reported; supplementation practice trend; reasons for dietary supplementation use.

The purpose of this study was to objectively explore and discuss the effect of trainer's communication style on rehabilitation ability and rehabilitation satisfaction of elite athletes. we observed the relationship between rehabilitation trainers and injured athletes and found that communication between them plays an important role. In this study, we criticized that most of the studies related to rehabilitation were conducted from the point of view of natural science. The results of this study emphasized that rehabilitation-related research should broadly accept social science positions such as business administration. The main research findings are as follows. As a result of analyzing the relationship between trainer's communication style and rehabilitation ability, first, the trainer's cooperative and professional communication style affects emotional factors of injured players. Second, the trainer's cooperative and controlled communication style affects the cognitive factors of injured players. Third, the trainer's cooperative and professional communication style affects the behavioral factors of injured players. Fourth, the trainer's cooperative and professional communication style affects the rehabilitation satisfaction of injured players. Based on these results, this study was conducted to validate the necessity of discussing the trainer's communication style preference according to the individual background such as the injured player's gender, personality, and injury level, and the classification and composition of communication styles that match Korean culture and sentiment. As suggestions for follow-up research, active sharing of problems with adjacent disciplines such as sports sociology, sports education, and sports marketing, and parallel qualitative research centered on individual cases were suggested

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of the injuries of the national elite Taekwondo players with the best performance in the international championship competition. Materials and Methods: Fifty-two athletes who got the injury in the 2011 Gyeongju World Taekwondo Championship competition were included in this sturdy. 950 members of national team of 146 countries participated in this game, 1,063 matches were performed. We analyzed the characteristics of the injuries such as injury rate by gender, age, weight class, injured region and injury type. Results: Fifty-two athletes of 950 athletes in 1,063 matches got injured and injury rate was 5.47 per 100 participants and 24.47/1,000 athlete-exposures. Injury rate of female athletes was higher than mail, but there was no significant statistical difference (p=0.512). Injury rate of over 30 years old was 17.39 per 100 participants, and injury rate of over 87 kg in male weight class and 68 to 73kg in female weight class were highest than other groups, but there was no significant statistical difference (p=0.838). Overall injury rate of the lower extremity was 13.17/1,000 A-E, higher than upper extremity or head and neck or trunk, but injury rate of the hand was 5.17/1,000 A-E, highest as a specific injured region, followed by the knee, 4.70/1,000 A-E (p=0.714). Injury rate of the sprain was 10.81/1,000 A-E, highest as an injury type, the second most common injury type was the fracture, 5.40/1,000 A-E in men, and was the contusion, 9.63/1,000 A-E in women (p=0.033). As one of the most serious injury, 4 of 8 fractures were occurred in hand. Conclusion: Overall injury rate of the elite Taekwondo players in 2011 Gyeongju World Taekwondo Championship was 5.47 per 100 participants and 24.46 per 1,000 athlete exposures. Although the most common type of injury was the sprain of the knee and ankle, the fractures were more commonly occurred in hand.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in joint position sense (JPS), force sense (FS), and performance level of the upper extremities according to the injury and pain experiences of Korean elite archers. Methods: A total of 15 subjects were briefed about the purpose of this study and agreed to participate voluntarily. JPS was evaluated using the laser-point attached to the wrist while aiming at the target. The difference when relocating while aiming was used as JPS factor. FS was evaluated using load cell through reproduces same muscle strength. Fear-Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire (FABQ) was used to evaluate psychosocial factors, Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic overhead athlete scores (KJOC) and numerical rating scale (NRS) was used to evaluate pain. and performance was evaluated by tournament match score. Results: There is a strong correlation between the current pain and KJOC. Moreover, moderate correlation between KJOC and FABQ also current pain and both upper trapezius and lower trapezius in elite archers. The mean (SD) between groups based on current pain display relatively large margin in force sense than without pain group. The result presents that there is a significant difference in performance and pain. There is a significant difference in the force sense of the upper and lower trapezius and pain. Conclusions: Result present there is a significant difference in functional level in the average comparison between groups according to the presence of absence of current pain. There is a significant difference in the force sense of the upper trapezius as well as lower trapezius and without pain group present a relatively low joint position sense error compared to the groups.
The aim of the study was a quantitative analysis of elite athlete's $540^{\circ}$ Dwihuryeochagi and effects of ground movements to the jumping height and kicking velocity. Eleven elite players(Taekwondo demonstration team) participated in this study. In order to get the kinetic and kinematic variables, ten Vicon cameras and a force plate were used. Foot segment velocity(FSV), vertical ground reaction force(GRF), impulse, ground time(GT) in phase 1, trunk angular velocity(TAV), vertical center of gravity(COG), flight time(FT) in phase 2 and kicking leg segment velocity(KSV) in phase 3 were measured and analyzed. Results indicated that there were similar patterns of variables among phases between subjects. Non-significant correlation(r=.145) between flight time(FT) and impulse was found. Also non-significant correlation(r=.119) between center of gravity(COG) and impulse was found. In conclusions, there were similar strategies in phase 1, phase 2, and phase 3 between subjects.

PEAS (performance enhancement attitude scale) has been used to measure attitude and disposition toward doping in elite athlete. It is constructed of 17-item, 6-point scale. The purpose of this study was to verify validity of the PEAS for Korean elite player through Rasch model. The scale was administered to 438 Korean elite players. Principal component analysis was used to verify unidimensionality using SPSS program. Rasch measurement computer program, WISTEPS, was used to estimate goodness-of-fit of items and category structure. Differenctial item functioning by gender was also estimated by the WINSTEPS program. All alpha level was set at 0.05. First, principal component analysis showed that unidimensionality is satisfied as over 20.0% of variance of eigenvalue. Second, category probabilities curve showed 5-point scale was better than 6-point scaled statistically. Third, seven items (1, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 17) in the 17-item were not good model fit and three items (3, 12, 13) were estimated as the differential item functioning. This study showed that 9-item, 5-point scale is better PEAS to Korean elite player.
This study aimed to examine the various factors structure of Performance Enhancement Attitude Scale (PEAS) by using confirmatory factor analysis and to provide a suitable questionnaire for elite athletes to measure attitudes toward doping. Three hundred and fifty-five handball players participated in this study and they filled out a self-administrated 17-items PEAS. And 17-items, 11-items, 9-items, 8-items and 6-items PEAS were examined by using confirmatory factor analysis, respectively. 6-items PEAS was suitable to measure attitudes toward doping for adult athletes, and PEAS for adolscent should be developed by being consisted of suitable questions for adolscent athletes.
This study aimed to identify the model fit of various versions of Performance Enhancement Attitude Scale (PEAS) developed for measuring quantitatively the attitude toward doping and to provide the information on Korean version of PEAS. One hundred and eighty elite athletic players participated in this study and they filled out 17 items PEAS under the supervision. And 17 items, 11 items, 9 items, 8 items and 6 items PEAS were analyzed by using confirmatory factor analysis. The result of this study showed that an 8 items PEAS was fit for Korean elite athletic players, and a 6 items PEAS was for adolescents, but insignificant. Therefore, further studies of the relationship between psychosocial factors and attitudes toward doping by using 8-items PEAS would provide precise and useful information for developing anti-doping strategy.
