Predictive Fuzzy Control for Elevator Group Supervisory System

  • In this paper, a predictive fuzzy control algorithm to supervise the elevator system with plural elevator cars is developed and its performance is evaluated. Elevator group controller must decide which of the cars is suitable for responding the registered hall call and allocate it to the selected car controller. In most cases, the purpose of group control is to minimize waiting time of passengers and occurrence of long wait as much as possible. The proposed algorithm ensures the efficient operations of the group cars and provides the improved level of service, coping with multiple control objects and uncertainty of system state. The feasibility of the proposed control algorithm is evaluated by graphic simulator on computer.

  • 현재 복수개의 엘리베이터를 최적 제어하기 위해서 엘리베이터 군 제어 시스템이 사용되고 있다. 일반적인 엘리베이터 군 제어 시스템에서는 임의의 층에서의 호출(Hall Call)에 대해 복수개의 엘리베이터로부터 정보를 받는다. 다음으로 각 엘리베이터의 매력함수값을 산출, 매력함수들을 비교 한 후 가장 큰 값을 갖는 엘리베이터를 호출한 층으로 보내는 작업을 수행한다. 본 논문에서는 16개의 엘리베이터와 정렬 네트워크(Sorting Network)를 이용하여 각 엘리베이터들의 매력함수값의 비교를 수행하는 엘리베이터 군 제어부를 설계한다. 이를 통해 제어부에서 매력함수값들의 비교 연산에 소요되는 처리속도를 향상시킬 수 있다.

A Design for Elevator Group Controller of Building Using Adaptive Dual Fuzzy Algorithm

  • In this paper, the development of a new group controller for high-speed elevators is described utilizing the approach of adaptive dual fuzzy logic. Some goals of the control are to minimize the waiting time, mean-waiting time and long-waiting time in a building. When a new hall call is generated, all adaptive dual fuzzy controller evaluates the traffic patterns and changes the membership function of a fuzzy rule base appropriately. A control algorithm is essential to control the cooperation of multiple elevators in a group and the most critical control function in the group controller is an effective and proper hall call assignment of the elevators. The group elevator system utilizing adaptive dual fuzzy control clearly performs more effectively than previous group controllers.

Prediction and Reduction of Alarm Sound Propagated through Elevator Shaft (엘리베이터 샤프트를 통한 경보음 전달 예측과 개선)

  • In this study, alarm sound generated as a priority alert system propagation through an elevator shaft in apartment buildings were simulated using room acoustic simulation software. The simulations were conducted on three kinds of elevator hall plan with a different number of elevators and placement. First, the elevator shaft without sound absorption material was simulated as a condition of the present. When the distance from the alarm sound generating floor became farther, alarm sound level was decreased. However, the alarm sound level three-floor distance was about 54 dB(A)~56 dB(A) which were louder than a background sound level of typical apartment buildings. Sound absorption material placement proposed by previous studies were simulated and the alarm sound levels were decreased about 12 dB~16 dB. These levels were similar or lower than the background level of apartment buildings. From these results, it can be concluded that placing sound absorption material on the surface of the elevator shaft wall can be one of the methods to control the alarm sound as regulated in NFSC.

Lifetime estimation for current sensor by accelerated life test (가속수명시험을 통한 전류센서의 수명 예측)

  • Hall-type current sensors have been widely used in many fields such as elevator and train system. To estimate lifetime of hall-type current sensors, an accelerated life test with real-time monitoring system simultaneously was designed and performed in high temperature environment with three different temperatures. From the experimental results, activation energy was about 0.9 eV, and acceleration factor was about 450 based on Arrhenius model. As a results, $B_{10}$ lifetime of hall-type current sensor is estimated to be 65,460 hours.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest architectural planning guideline for the improvement of the evacuation environment in a ward. To suggest of guideline, the problem of irrational domestic criteria is searched according to compare National fire code (NFPA101, Life safety code) with Korea building law. This study includes stairs, corridors and exit door etc. but excludes fire facilities. To verify effectiveness of suggested guideline, egress simulation is run that based on databases according to literature survey. The results of this study could be summarized as follow: Suggested guidelines are subdivision(fire partition), evacuation by elevator, secure useful waiting space of elevator hall and smokeproof enclosures, the corridor is divided by fire or smoke barriers corridor from hazardous room, only wheeled items are arranged in corridors of a ward story. The result of computer simulation for suggested guidelines verify that egress time can be decreased 20% or above.

  • The objectives of this study are to clarify the impacts of stack effect in high-rise residential buildings and to present technical methods to reduce stack effect. For the evaluation of stack effect, architectural design guidelines were used and computer program simulations based on network model were performed. The evaluation shows that problems due to stack effect may be reduced by appropriate architectural designs, such as increase in air-tightness of building envelop, and provision of vestibules around entrance and elevator hall doors.

  • Wire ropes are used in a myriad of various industrial applications such as elevator, mine hoist, construction machinery, lift, and suspension bridge. Especially, wire rope of crane is important component to container transfer. If it happens wire rope failures in operating, it may lead to safety accident, economic power loss by productivity decline, competitive power decline of container terminal and so on. To solve this problem, we developed wire rope fault detecting system as a portable instrument, and this system is consisted of 3 parts that fault detecting part using hall sensor, permanent magnets and analog unit, and digital signal processing part using data acquisition card, monitoring part using wavelet transform, denoising method. In this paper, a wire rope is scanned by this system after makes several broken parts on the surface of wire rope artificially. All detected signal has external noise or disturbance according to circumstances. So, we applied to discrete wavelet transform to extract a signal from noisy data that was used filter. In practical applications of denoising, it is shown that wavelet pursue it with little information loss and smooth signal display. It is verified that the detecting system by denoising has good efficiency for inspecting faults of wire ropes in service. As a result, by developing this system, container terminal could reduce expense because of extension of wire ropes exchange period and could competitive power. Also, this system is possible to apply in several fields like that elevator, lift and so on.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify and compare the range of dwellers and the use of pattern in public common space for dwellers of high-rised apartment of staircase type and gallery type. Also, it is to ascertain the relationship between extent of neighborhood and community awareness. The results were as follows. The term of habitation of most apartment dwellers surveyed were relatively short and most of dwellers had a small family that having a minor children.'Relational association with their neighbor in apartment of staircase type was happened between families that use the same entrance and elevator and it in gaiter type was happened inside the family. But intimacy rate and range of interest were not that high additively, int the case needs a conversation with neighbor, it happened in individual entrance and elevator hall rather than inside the house and exterior area.

A Study of Residents' Demand for External Space of Apartment Site (아파트 외부공간 실태와 조성기법)

  • This study derives problems of external space utilization site from on-site observation and questionnaire survey in order to suggest solutions for the problems. The main results are follows. First, fences as visual boundaries of apartment site play some negative roles - separation of space and heterogeneity of circumstance. This study suggests green fences to cure this problem. Second, residents want to change space use - ground to be used as green space or space for relaxation in stead of parking lots, elevator hall as social space, and underground as bike parks or health centers. Third, rooftop space, used as empty space or machine storage space, should be designed to be utilized as relaxation space by making easy to enter and exit.
