This paper considers dynamic impedance functions and presents a detailed analysis of the soil plasticity influence on the pile-group foundation dynamic response. A three-dimensional finite element model is proposed, and a calculation method considering the time domain is detailed for the nonlinear dynamic impedance functions. The soil mass is modeled as continuum elastoplastic solid using the Mohr-Coulomb shear failure criterion. The piles are modeled as continuum solids and the slab as a structural plate-type element. Quiet boundaries are implemented to avoid wave reflection on the boundaries. The model and method of analysis are validated by comparison with those published on literature. Numerical results are presented in terms of horizontal and vertical nonlinear dynamic impedances as a function of the shear soil parameters (cohesion and internal friction angle), pile spacing ratio and frequencies of the dynamic signal.
Hot rolling of Mg-6Zn-0.6Zr-0.4Ag-0.2Ca-(0, 8 wt%)Li powder was conducted at the temperature of $300^{\circ}C$ by putting the powder into the Cu pipe. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the samples were observed. Mg-6Zn-0.6Zr-0.4Ag-0.2Ca without Li element was consisted of ${\alpha}$ phase and precipitates. The microstructure of the 8 wt%Li containing alloy consisted of two phases (${\alpha}$-Mg phase and ${\beta}$-Li phase). In addition, $Mg_2Zn_3Li$ was formed in 8%Li added Mg-6Zn-0.6Zr-0.4Ag-0.2Ca alloy. By addition of the Li element, the non-basal planes were expanded to the rolling direction, which was different from the based Mg alloy without Li. The tensile strength was gradually decreased from 357.1 MPa to 264 MPa with increasing Li addition from 0% to 8%Li. However, the elongation of the alloys was remarkably increased from 10 % to 21% by addition of the Li element to 8%. It is clearly considered that the non-basal texture and ${\beta}$ phase contribute to the increase of elongation and formability.
The increasing saturation challenges in storage facilities for Low- and Intermediate-Level Radioactive Waste call for a more efficient storage approach. Consequently, we have developed a square-structured container that features a storage capacity approximately 20% greater than that of conventional drum-type containers. Considering the need to contain various radioactive wastes from nuclear power usage securely until they no longer pose a threat to human health or the environment, this study focuses on evaluating the sealing efficacy of the newly designed rectangular container using finite element analysis. Since radioactive waste containers typically do not experience external forces except under special circumstances, our analysis simulated the impact of an external force, assuming a fall scenario. After fastening the bolts, we examined the vertical stress distribution on the container by applying the calculated external force. The analysis confirms the container's stable seal.
The recent trend towards miniaturization causes an increased demand for parts with very small dimensions. Milli-structure components are classified as a component group whose size is between macro- and micro-scale. The manufacturing process of these components of thin sheet metal forming has a microscopic properties in addition to a typical phenomenon of bulk deformation because of the forming size. Also, the material properties and the deformation behavior change with miniaturization, which means that, a coarse grained materials show a higher resistance against deformation, when the grain size is in the range of the sheet thickness. In this study, a new numerical approach is proposed to simulate intergranular milli-structure in forming by the finite element method. The grain element and grain boundary element are introduced to simulate the milli-structure in the bending. The grain element is used to analyze the deformation of individual grain while the grain boundary element is for the investigation on the movement of the grain boundary. Also, the result of the finite element analysis is confirmed by a series of milli-sized forming experiments.
Objectives: To evaluate the biodurability of Korean Chrysotile(KC), the changes in fibers numbers and changes in the element composition of fibers from the lung of Sprague-Dawley rats instilled KC(average size $4.74{\mu}m$, $59,043{\times}10^6$ fibers/mg) was estimated. Methods: Rats were administered 1 mg KC(low group) or 2 mg KC(high group) by a single intratracheal instillation. At each time point(5 days, 5 weeks, 10 weeks), the numbers of KC fibers and the changes of element composition(atomic %) of KC fibers from the lung of the rats were analyzed with transmission electron microscope equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer. Results: Over time, the number of fibers within the lungs of animals were reduced. The average length of the low and high group is significantly reduced from 5 days after administration. Over time, the fiber ratio of at least $5{\mu}m$ remaining in the lung tissue of the low concentration group was up but the high group was reduced. From day 5 after administration, the composition ratio(Mg) was significantly decreased in all groups. Conclusions: Size and composition of Korean Chrysotile in the lung tissue of rats was changed from 5 days.

Let G be a group and $\mathbb{C}$ the field of complex numbers. Suppose ${\sigma}:G{\rightarrow}G$ is an endomorphism satisfying ${{\sigma}}({{\sigma}}(x))=x$ for all x in G. In this paper, we first determine the central solution, f : G or $G{\times}G{\rightarrow}\mathbb{C}$, of the functional equation $f(xy)+f({\sigma}(y)x)=2f(x)+2f(y)$ for all $x,y{\in}G$, which is a variant of the quadratic functional equation. Using the central solution of this functional equation, we determine the general solution of the functional equation f(pr, qs) + f(sp, rq) = 2f(p, q) + 2f(r, s) for all $p,q,r,s{\in}G$, which is a variant of the equation f(pr, qs) + f(ps, qr) = 2f(p, q) + 2f(r, s) studied by Chung, Kannappan, Ng and Sahoo in [3] (see also [16]). Finally, we determine the solutions of this equation on the free groups generated by one element, the cyclic groups of order m, the symmetric groups of order m, and the dihedral groups of order 2m for $m{\geq}2$.

The high rate of voltage rise (dv/dt) in motor terminals caused by high-frequency switching and impedance mismatches between inverter and motor are known as the primary causes of irregular voltage distributions and insulation breakdowns on stator windings in IGBT PWM inverter-driven induction motors. In this paper, voltage distributions in the stator windings of an induction motor driven by an IGBT PWM inverter are studied. To analyze the irregular voltages of stator windings, high frequency parameters are derived from the finite element (FE) analysis of stator slots. An equivalent circuit composed of distributed capacitances, inductance, and resistance is derived from these parameters. This equivalent circuit is then used for simulation in order to predict the voltage distributions among the turns and coils. The effects of various rising times in motor terminal voltages and cable lengths on the stator voltage distribution are also presented. For a comparison with simulations, an induction motor with taps in the stator turns was made and driven by a variable-rising time switching surge generator. The test results are shown.
The purpose of this study was to classify Y generation according to Hip Hop mania elements and to investigate the differences in psychological characteristics (self-consciousness, egocentrism) and buying behavior of Hip Hop fashion among the classified groups. The subjects were 500 middle and high school students living in Seoul and Kyonggi area.46g data were analysed using cluster analysis, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test. The results were as (follows : As a result of classifying Y generation with Hip Hop mania element including behavior and attitude aspect they were classified into three groups; Hip Hop mania group, Hip Hop interesting group, Hip Hop uninterested group. Among groups there were significant differences in public and private self-consciousness, self-centeredness, evaluative criteria of Hip Hop fashion, information sources and clothing store patronage. Hip Hop Mania group showed significantly higher level in both public and private self-consciousness, thus the members of the group were so egocentric in their thinking and behavior. When they purchased Hip Hop fashion, they regarded both aesthetic appreciation and practicality as import information.
A finite element analysis technology applicable to the prediction of the static nonlinear response of cable roof structure is presented. The unified kinematic description is employed to formulate the present cable element and different strain definitions such as Green-Lagrange strain, Biot strain and Hencky strain can be adopted. The Newton-Raphson method is used to trace the nonlinear load-displacement path. In the iteration process, the compressive stress of a cable element is not allowed. For the verification of the present cable element, four numerical examples are tackled. Finally, numerical results obtained by using the present cable element are provided as new benchmark test results for cable structures under static loads.
The stability and resistance of the plates under in-plane loading is crucial in the design of structures. For the assessment of structural stability, it is necessarily required to have accurate finite element technologies. Therefore, the enhanced 9-node plate (Q9-ANS) element is introduced for the linear buckling analysis of plate where the critical buckling load has to be determined. The Q9-ANS is developed with the Reissner-Mindlin (RM) assumptions which consider transverse shear deformation of the plate. Assumed shear strain is used to alleviate the shear locking phenomenon. Numerical examples are carried out to verify the performance of the Q9-ANS element in calculation of critical buckling load of the plates.
