  • In late 19C, German mathematician Felix Klein declaired "Erlangen program" to reform mathematics education in Germany. The main ideas of "Erlangen program" contain the importance of instructing the concepts of functions and groups in school mathematics. After one century from that time, the importance of concepts of groups revived by Bourbaki in the sense of the algebraic structure which is the most important structure among three structures of mathematics - algebraic structure. ordered structure and topological structure. Since then, many mathematicians and mathematics educators devoted to work with the concepts of group for school mathematics. This movement landed on Korea in 21C, and now, the concepts of groups appeared in element mathematics text as plane rigid motion. In this paper, we state the rigid motions centered the symmetry - an important notion in group theory, then summarize the results obtained from some classroom activities. After that, we discuss the responses of children to concepts of groups.of groups.

  • Let (equation omitted) be a symmetrizable Kac-Moody algebra with the indecomposable generalized Cartan matrix A and W be its Weyl group. Let $\theta$ be the highest root of the corresponding finite dimensional simple Lie algebra ${\gg}$ of g. For the type ${A_N}^{(r)}$, we give an element $\omega_{o}\;\in\;W$ such that ${{\omega}_o}^{-1}({\{\Delta\Delta}_{+}})\;=\;{\{\Delta\Delta}_{-}}$. And then we prove that the degree of nilpotency of the subalgebra (equation omitted) is greater than or equal to $ht{\theta}+1$.

  • This paper suggests the new technology to control metal flow in order to reduce the number of preforming and the machining for the cold forged product with complex geometry. This technology is the combined forming that consists of bulk and sheet forming with double action dies. To analyze the process, finite element simulation has been performed. The proposed technology is applied to hub model that is part of air conditioner clutch. The purpose of this study is to investigate the material now of hub through the relative-velocity control of punch and mandrel using the flow control forming technique.

  • Retroreflective article is different from other reflecting objects as it returns the incidence ray to the near of its source. This characteristic makes the retroreflectors have many applications in reflective highway signs, reflective vests, and other safety-relaxed items. These articles may have various shapes. However, the quantitative evaluation of performance for the best shape of retroreflector needs much time and cost for manufacturing prototypes and for performance experiments. In this work, we have developed a program for simulating the trace of ray entered into a retroreflective element, in order to determine the optimal shape of retro-reflection. We have also proposed new performance criterion of retroreflective articles, which can confide the range of incidence angle, instead of the criterion with the merely retroreflective strength.

  • This paper presents efficiency improvement of a universal motor used in a vacuum cleaner. The transient computation is carried out by employing finite element analysis with nonlinear material curves. Working point of magnetic field is investigated and operating frequencies are analyzed using harmonics analysis. New non-oriented electrical steel is developed for the motor regarding permeability and iron loss at the frequencies. Accordingly, new electrical steel is applied to the motor, which leads to improve efficiency of the motor.

  • This study shows the process design and forming analysis of permalloy shielding can that support the automobile multi-display parts to indicate the accurate information of car. This study is particularly important, since the accuracy of permalloy shielding can is known to affect the magnetic properties such as coercivity and permeability quite sensitively. The objective functions are defects such as hemming wind, hemming length, hemming wrap and tightness in prehemming process. The pre-hemming angle is considered as design parameter. The commercial finite element program PAM-STAMP™ was used to simulate the pre-hemming and hemming process. The ANN (Artificial Neural Network) has been implemented for minimizing of objective function and for investigating effect of punch angle relevant to the pre-hemming process. The results of analysis to validate the proposed design method are presented.

  • In this paper, the full-size structural performance test for a lightweight soundproof tunnel composed of partitioned pipe truss members is carried out to investigate the structural performance. In addition, a nonlinear structural analysis of the same finite element model as the full-size testing model is performed to compare the test result. The test and analysis results showed that the lightweight soundproof tunnel ensures the structural safety against wind loads, snow loads and load combinations. As a result, the full-size test and analysis results meet all the design load conditions, hence the proposed lightweight soundproof tunnel is ready for the field application.

  • In this paper, the structural characteristics of a lightweight soundproof tunnel to reduce the dead load imposed on the bridge are investigated. Subsequently, the design procedure of soundproof tunnel structures is reviewed and a design practice for the lightweight soundproof tunnel is carried out according to the reviewed procedure. Next, design compatibility for the lightweight soundproof tunnel is verified through a detailed finite element analysis. The result for evaluation of design compatibility shows that the lightweight soundproof tunnel has structural safety in structural members, welding zones and foundation parts. It is also confirmed that serviceability and buckling safety is excellent.

  • The causes of periodontal disease have been descried as malocclusion, trauma from occlusion, local irritants and poor oral hygien. The systemic factor has also been considered as a etiologic factor of periodontal disease. On the other aspect systemic condition could be affected by periodontal disease. For the study of relationships between periodontal disease and systemic condition, twenty patients with periodontal disease and twenty persons with no periodontal involvement were evaluated for inorganic elements and organic materials in the blood. The results of the blood analysis of the two groups were as follows. : Phosphorus and alkline-phoshatase in the group with periodontal disease showed slightly increased phenomenon compared to the control group, and on the other hand calcium and calcium-phosphorus ratio decreased phenomenon. But there is no any significant alteration in the content of each element between the two groups.

  • Over an additive abelian group G of order g and for a given positive integer $\lambda$, a generalized Hadamard matrix GH(g, $\lambda$) is defined as a gλ$\times$gλ matrix[h(i, j)], where 1 $\leq i \leqg\lambda and 1 \leqj \leqg\lambda$, such that every element of G appears exactly $\lambd$atimes in the list h($i_1, 1) -h(i_2, 1), h(i_1, 2)-h(i_2, 2), …, h(i_1, g\lambda) -h(i_2, g\lambda), for any i_1\neqi_2$. In this paper, we propose a new method of expanding a GH(g^m, \lambda_1) = B = [B_{ij}] over G^m$ by replacing each of its m-tuple B_{ij} with B_{ij} + GH(g, $\lambda_2) where m = g\lambda_2. We may use g^m/\lambda_1 (not necessarily all distinct) GH(g, \lambda_2$)s for the substitution and the resulting matrix is defined over the group of order g.
