Preparation of Crack-free YBCO Films by EPD on Silver

  • Electrophoretic deposition (EPD) of alcohol YBCO suspensions on the Ag wire electrode is studied. Poly(ethylene glycol) was coordinated to a structure formed by the EPD process with YBCO particles. The suspension is characterized in terms of zeta potential and conductivity. The d.c electric fields of 200-300 V/cm are applied for 1-10 min. The optimal condition for the EPD allows modifying the properties and microstructure of the deposited films. Superconducting coatings with nanometer-sized pores and a preferred orientation along the c-axis were prepared from the result with chemically modified precursor solution. In contrast, YBCO coatings of submicrometer-sized pores and randomly orientated grains were prepared from the solution without PEG.

  • On this study, we fabricated humudity sensor with polyimide thin film from the nonaqueous emulsion by the electrophoretic deposition as a function of film thickness. then evaluated performance of the sensor with increasing relative humidity if constant temperature constant humidity chamber, which is electronically controlled. we designed upper electrode of the sensor to brush type to make moisture particles permeate into the polymer bulk. sensing properties of the sensor on % RH shows proportion on the low %RH. Fer the 30V-30S- 200$^{\circ}C$ sample, percentage changing of capacitance on from 30 %RH to 90 %RH is 45.8 %, and increasing rate per 1 % RH of capacitance is 11.25 pF

  • The preparation of A1203-SiO2 thin films from less than one micron to several tens of microns in thickness had been Prepared from metal alkoxide sols. Two methods, dip-withdrawal and electrophoretic deposition, were employed for thin films and sheets formation. The requirements to be satisfied by the solution for preparing uniform and strong films and by the factors affecting thickness and other properties of the films were examined. For the preparation of thin, continuous A12O3-SiO2 films, therefore, metal-organic-derived precursor solutions contained Si and Al in a chemically polymerized form has been developed and produced in a clear liquid state.

  • For the research of the effects on suspension solution with YBCO and BSCCO for elcectrophoretic deposition to prepare superconducting thick-film wire, it was investigated that the preheating technique for the superconducting powders in vacuum system was used with various solvent solutions of acetone, ethanol, toluene and buthanol for electrophoresis. As a result it was useful to remove the influence of remaining and adsorbed solvent solution which was existed between and on the particle surfaces when the specimens of superconducting wire by electrophoresis were treated in vacuum of 10$\^$-3/ Torr and temperature around 200$^{\circ}C$ in bell-jar system. From the prepared superconducting wire samples, the critical current density, Jc was measured by 4-point prove method in liquid N$_2$ at the value of 10$\^$3/ to 10$\^$4/ A/$\textrm{cm}^2$, respectively, for the YBCO and BSCCO superconducting wires.

Preparation of ZnO Thin Film by Electrophoretic Deposition(EPD)

  • The electrophoretic deposition(EPD) of ZnO nano-sized colloids is investigated by changing the colloid number concentration, applied force, and deposition time. The change of the colloid size in a suspension was examined by the different colloid number concentrations (N = $3.98{\times}10^{15}$, N = $3.98{\times}10^{14}$, and N = $3.98{\times}10^{13}$) with an increase of the deposition time and applied forces. Deposition behavior was investigated by changing the applied fields (from DC 5 V to 50 V) and the deposition time (5 min to 25 min). The surface microstructures of the as-deposited films were investigated by SEM. The dried films were sintered from $850^{\circ}C$ to $1,050^{\circ}C$ for 2 h and then the microstructures were also explored by SEM. The agglomeration rate was enhanced by increasing the colloid number concentration of colloids. Colloid number concentration in a suspension must be rapidly decreased at higher values of the electric field. ZnO nano-sized colloids had the highest zeta potential value of over -28 mV in methanol. A homogeneous microstructure was obtained at colloid number concentration of N = $3.98{\times}10^{13}$, applied DC field of 5 V/cm and 15 min of deposition time at an electrode distance of 1.5 cm. Under these conditions, the deposited films were sintered at $850^{\circ}C$ and $1,050^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. The results show a typical pore-free surface morphology of a uniform thickness of 400 nm under these experimental conditions.

  • Alumina-silica composite coating layers were prepared by electrophoretic deposition (EPD) of plate-shaped alumina particles dispersed in a sol-gel binder, which was prepared by hydrolysis and the condensation reaction of methyltrimethoxysilane in the presence of colloidal silica. The microstructure and the electrical and thermal properties of the coatings were compared according to the EPD process parameter: voltage, time and the content of the plate-shaped alumina particles. The electrical insulation property of the coatings was measured by a voltage test. The coatings were prepared by EPD of the sol-gel binder with 5-30 wt% plate alumina particles on parallel electrodes at a distance of 2 cm for 1-10 min under an applied voltage of 10-30 V. The coatings experienced increased breakdown voltage with increasing thickness. However, the higher the thickness was, the smaller the breakdown voltage strength was. A breakdown voltage as high as 4.6 kV was observed with a $400{\mu}m$ thickness, and a breakdown voltage strength as high as 27 kV/mm was achieved for the sample under a $100{\mu}m$ thickness.

전기영동법을 이용한 고체산화물 연료전지용 $Ce_{0.8}Sm_{0.2}O_{x}$ 전해질 박막 제조 (Preparation of $Ce_{0.8}Sm_{0.2}O_{x}$ Electrolyte Thin Film for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells by Electrophoretic Deposition)

  • 본 연구에서는 나노 크기의 세리아를 사마리움으로 일부 도핑(samaria-doped ceria(SDC))한 분말을 urea를 첨가제로 사용하여 수열합성법으로 합성하였으며 그 특성들을 XRD, FESEM, TEM 등을 통해 관찰하였다. 합성 시간 및 합성온도가 증가함에 따라 분말의 결정성 및 입도가 증가함을 확인하였다. 또한 이온전도도의 측정을 통해 합성된 SDC 파우더가 중 저온(600~$800^{\circ}C$) 부근에서 0.1 S/cm의 이온전도도를 보여 중 저온형 고체산화물 연료전지(IT-SOFC)의 고체 전해질에 적합함을 확인할 수 있었다. 합성된 SDC 분말은 중·저온 고체산화물 연료전지의 음극지지형 전해질로 사용하기 위해 전기영동 증착 방법을 이용하여 다공성 NiO-SDC 기판 위에 SDC 박막 증착을 시도하였다. 증착 용액은 acetone을 용매로 사용하고, 20V의 인가전압으로 10초간 증착한 결과 얇고 치밀하며 기공이 없는 SDC 박막이 형성되었음을 FESEM 분석을 통해 확인할 수 있었다.
