  • There propagate use management paradigm in developed countries is changing as Command & Control $\Rightarrow$ Market Based $\Rightarrow$ Open Access $\Rightarrow$ Manage By Technology & Technical Analysis, that the policy response to environmental changes, such as a variety of new technologies. The emergence of service, the proliferation of propagation users It is to activate the market. However, the basic principles of radio management such that the change of paradigm be used to spread in a range that does not affect the interference, such as the horn is to be observed. Around the world in order to prevent the propagation and utilization Horn interference enacted regulations for managing the radio station, and also discipline.

  • Thermosonic flip chip bonding is an important technology for the electronic packaging due to its simplicity, cost effectiveness and clean and dry process. Mechanical properties of the horn and the shank, such as the natural frequency and the amplitude, have a great effect on the bonding capability of the transverse flip chip bonding system. In this research, two kinds of study are performed. The first is the new design of the clamp and the second is the effect of tolerance parameters to the performance of the system. The clamp with a bent shape is newly designed to hold the nodal point of the flip chip. The second is the effect of the design parameters on the vibration amplitude and planarity at the end of the shank. The variation of the tolerance parameters changes the amplitude and the frequency of the vibration of the shank. They, in turn, have an effect on the quantity of the plastic deformation of the gold ball bump, which determined the quality of the flip chip bonding. The tolerance parameters that give the great effect on the amplitude of the shank are determined using Taguchi's method. Error of set-up angle, the length and diameter of horn and error of the length of the shank are determined to be the parameters that have peat effect on the amplitude of the system.

  • Ultrasonic transmitter used for scale prevention in boiler or heat exchanger is composed of the magnetostrictive material which transforms electric energy into ultrasonic wave and the horn which amplifies generated ultrasonic wave and transfers it into medium loaded. In this paper, we have performed the shape design for magnetostrictive material and analyzed a few type of horns which amplify generated ultrasonic wave and found each solution theoretically. Final length of the horn has been determined by measuring the sound pressure in medium between theoretical value and experience data. At last we have given the results of our study for the effects of ultrasonic wave irradiated by manufactured ultrasonic transmitter on preventing scale deposition on test pipe under the similar condition to boiler.

  • A free space transmission method using standard gain horn antennas in the frequency range from 9.0 to 10.5GHz is applied to determine the dielectric properties of grain such as rough rice, brown rife and barley. The dielectric constant and loss factor, which depend on the moisture content of the wetted grain are obtained from the measured attenuation and phase shift by vector network analyzer. The effect of density fluctuation, which is an important parameter governing the dielectric properties of grain, on the dielectric constant and loss factor is presented. A new density-independent model in terms of measured attenuation and moisture density is proposed for reducing the effects of density fluctuation on the moisture content measurement.

  • A free sparse transmission method using X-band standard gain horn antenna is applied to measure the attenuation and phase shift of microwave signal through the wetted grain such as rough rice, brown rice and barley. The moisture content of grain varied from 11 to 25% based on its wetted condition. The dielectric constant and loss factor, which depend on the moisture content of the wetted grain are obtained from the measured attenuation and phase shift by vector network analyzer. The measured values of dielectric constants as a function of moisture density are compared with values of those obtained using the predicted model for estimating dielectric constants of grain.

  • Objective : An adjustable Ghajar guide is presented to improve the accuracy of the original Ghajar guide technique. The accuracy of the adjustable Ghajar guide technique is also investigated. Methods : The coronal adjustment angle from the orthogonal catheter trajectory at Kocher's point is determined based on coronal head images using an electronic picture archiving and communication system. For the adjustable Ghajar guide, a protractor is mounted on a C-shaped basal plate that is placed in contact with the margin of a burrhole, keeping the central $0^{\circ}$ line of the protractor orthogonal to the calvarial surface. A catheter guide, which is moved along the protractor and fixed at the pre-determined adjustment angle, is then used to guide the ventricular catheter into the frontal horn adjacent to the foramen of Monro. The adjustable Ghajar guide technique was applied to 20 patients, while a freehand technique based on the surface anatomy of the head was applied to another 47 patients. The accuracy of the ventricular catheter placement was then evaluated using postoperative computed tomography scans. Results : For the adjustable Ghajar guide technique (AGT) patients, the bicaudate index ranged from 0.23 to 0.33 ($mean{\pm}standard$ deviation [SD] : $0.27{\pm}0.03$) and the adjustment angle ranged from $0^{\circ}$ to $10^{\circ}$ ($mean{\pm}SD:5.2^{\circ}{\pm}3.2^{\circ}$). All the AGT patients experienced successful cerebrospinal fluid diversion with only one pass of the catheter. Optimal placement of the ventricular catheter in the ipsilateral frontal horn approximating the foramen of Monro (grade 1) was achieved in 19 patients (95.0%), while a suboptimal trajectory into a lateral corner of the frontal horn passing along a lateral wall of the frontal horn (grade 3) occurred in 1 patient (5.0%). Thus, the AGT patients experienced a significantly higher incidence of optimal catheter placement than the freehand catheterized patients (95.0% vs. 68.3%, p=0.024). Moreover, none of the AGT patients experienced any tract hemorrhages along the catheter or procedure-related complications. Conclusion : The proposed adjustable Ghajar guide technique, using angular adjustment in the coronal plane from the orthogonal trajectory at Kocher's point, facilitates accurate freehand placement of a ventricular catheter for hydrocephalic patients.

  • In this paper, a method for measuring the dielectric constant of a planar dielectric substrate using the free space material constant measurement method in a general measurement environment is proposed. Two horn antennas and a network analyzer were used for S-parameter measurement and the transmission and reflection coefficients of a planar dielectric substrate were calculated from the measurement results. To obtain a reliable dielectric constant in a low-precision-measurement environment, only the magnitude of the transmission coefficient, which has a small error due to the measurement environment, is used for dielectric constant estimation. Finally, the dielectric constant is determined by comparing the measured results at different frequencies.

  • This work demonstrates attenuation effects of plasma on waves propagating in the 26.5-40 GHz range. The effect is investigated via experiments measuring the transmission between two Ka-band horn antennas set 30 cm apart. A dielectric-barrier-discharge (DBD) plasma generator with a size of $200mm{\times}100mm{\times}70mm$ and consisting of 20 layers of electrodes is placed between the two antennas. The DBD generator is placed in a $400mm{\times}300mm{\times}400mm$ acrylic chamber so that the experiments can be performed for plasma generated under various conditions of gas and pressure, for instance, in air, Ar, and He environments at 0.001, 0.05, and 1 atm of pressure. Attenuation is calculated by the difference in the transmission level, with and without plasma, which is generated with a bias voltage of 20 kV in the 0.1-1.4 kHz range. Results show that the attenuation varies from 0.05 dB/m to 9.0 dB/m depending on the environment. Noble gas environments show higher levels of attenuation than air, and He is lossier than Ar. In all gas environments, attenuation increases as pressure increases. Finally, electromagnetic models of plasmas generated in various conditions are provided.
