  • Most numerical techniques such as FEM, BEM, and MOM are able to analize electromagnetic scattering problems from arbitrary shapes. Although these methods could be applied to compute electromagnetic scattering problems in frequency domain, it was limited for electrodynamic problem in time domain. In this paper, electromagnetic scattering problem from Fresnel zone plate lens are considered. Some numerical results computed by TLM are compared with Kirchhoff's approximation and PO method.

  • This paper presents a mode-matching analysis of the electromagnetic coupling between open cable trays in an indoor structure when an electric-line current is generated as an electromagnetic source. We validated the mode-matching method by comparing the mode-matching results with those computed from a commercial electromagnetic simulator and then investigated the strength of the electric-field coupled in a victim cable tray while varying the distances between cable trays and architectural surfaces. The results of this study provide geometrical information on the placement of open cable trays to avoid electromagnetic interference problems.

  • When a telecommunications line is encountered with neighboring electric lines, induced currents are produced in the circuit formed by those lines and earth. The induced currents sometimes impose intolerable noise problems on the telecommunications lines. In this study, screening factor indication the level of screening effect is defined and calculated several cases together with numerical results.

  • The Electrodeless lamp is intended as a high efficacy replacement for the incandescent reflector lamp in many applications. but Increasing awareness of electromagnetic compatibility(EMC) issues in lighting application, the problems of interference generation by electrodeless fluorescent lighting system have been highlighted. In this paper, Maxwell 2D finite element analysis program(Ansoft) is used to obtain electromagnetic properties associated with the coil and nearby structures. and also evaluated Flux B, H by changing the input current.

  • The problems of electromagnetic coupling and radiation in an aperture-coupled microstrip antenna structure are discussed while focusing on the difference between two representative field configuration: parasitic-type and cavity-type. Based on the discussion, a critical look is taken at the validity of a previous description of the coupling mechanism of m aperture-coupled microstrip antenna.

  • In this paper, we presents the integral equation-fast Fourier transform(IE-FFT) and block matrix preconditioner (BMP) to solve electromagnetic scattering problems of penetrable structures composed of dielectric or magnetic materials. IE-FFT can significantly improve the amount of calculation to solve the matrix equation constructed from the moment method(MoM). Moreover, the iterative method in conjunction with BMP can be significantly reduce the number of iterations required to solve the matrix equations which are constructed from electrically large structures. Numerical results show that IE-FFT and block matrix preconditioner can solve electromagnetic scattering problems for penetrable objects quickly and accurately.

  • A novel finite element mesh regeneration method is presented for 3D shape optimization of electromagnetic devices. The method has its theoretical basis in the structural deformation of an elastic body. When the shape of the electromagnetic devices changes during the optimization process, a proper 3D finite element mesh can be easily obtained using the method from the initial mesh. For real engineering problems, the method guarantees a smooth shape with proper mesh quality, and maintains the same mesh topology as the initial mesh. Application of the optimum design of an electromagnetic shielding plate shows the effectiveness of the presented method.

  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) is defined as the interaction phenomena of electromagnetic waves scattered from a large structure or complex terrain. In this study, the propagation of linear wave is modeled with ray theory, direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC), and some classical theories on flat plates. The wave physics of reflection, refraction, and diffraction are simulated for the investigation of front and back scattering of the one-dimensional plane wave from a tower with ray theory and DSMC, respectively. The effect of rotating disk idealized from the real wind-turbine blades is modeled with a simplified version of the classical electromagnetic theory as well as DSMC based on the ray theory.
