  • A numerical analysis and experimental investigation of microstrip meander lines is given with reference to their low-pass amplitude and phase characteristics. The analysis features the inclusion of equivalent circuit models for bends to analytical equations for the muntual couplings between lines. The numerical simulation is efficient and is not constrained by the number of the coupled lines. Experimental results for 4=coupled meander lines, which are in good agreement with the simulation, are included.

  • In this paper, the analytical model to understand the propagation of electromagnetic waves in the foam core sandwich structures was proposed. Using the analytical model, efforts were made to find the optimal stacking sequence of composite skins for maximum transmittance of electromagnetic wave. Numerical analyses of unidirectional composites and foam as a function of incident angle were performed. From the results of analysis, the general tendencies of transmittance of electromagnetic wave through composites and foam were obtained. Based on the general tendencies, optimal stacking sequences of composite skins for the maximum transmittance of electromagnetic wave were found with certain ranges of incident angle using genetic algorithm(GA).

  • The limitation of telegrapher's equations for analysis of nonuniform transmission lines is investigated here. It is shown theoretically that the input impedance of a nonuniform transmission line cannot be derived uniquely from the Riccati equation only except for the exponential transmission line of a particular frequency-dependent taper. As an example, the input impedance of an angled two-plate transmission line is calculated by solving the telegrapher's equations numerically. The numerical results suffer from larger deviation from its rigorous solution as the plate angle increases.

  • The electromagnetic characteristics of FCEVs (fuel cell electric vehicles) are much different from the existing combustion engine cars as well as hybrid, plug-in-hybrid, and pure electric vehicles due to the high voltage/current generated by a fuel cell stack which uses a compressed hydrogen gas reacted with oxygen. To operate fuel cell stack efficiently, BOP (Balance of Plant) which is consisted of many motors in water pump, air blower, and hydrogen recycling pump as well as inverters for these motors is essential. Furthermore, there are also electric systems for entertainment, information, and vehicle control such as navigation, broadcasting, vehicle dynamic control systems, and so on. Since these systems are connected by high voltage or general cables, EMC (Electromagnetic compatibility) analysis for high voltage and general cable of FCEV is the most important element to prevent the possible electric functional safety errors. In this paper, electromagnetic fields by high voltage and general cables for FCEVs is studied. From numerical analysis results, total time harmonic electromagnetic field strength from high voltage and general cables have difference of 13~16 dB due to ground effect by impedance matching. The EMI results of FECV at 10 m distance shows difference of 41 dB at 30 MHz and 54 dB at 230 MHz compared with only general cable routing.

  • A new method is developed for analysis of the electromagnetic coupling to an angled two-strip transmission line. It consists of solving the cylindrical transmission line equations an- alytically, and then adjusting the involved parameters to support the cylindrical TEM mode along its equivalent model of the angled two-plate transmission line. Its analytic solution agrees with the numerical value obtained by using the circuit-concept approach.

  • In this paper, we present the analysis of electromagnetic scattering from arbitrarily shaped three-dimensional conducting objects coated with dielectric materials. The integral equation treated here is the combined field integral equation(CFIE). The objectives of this paper is to illustrate that only the CFIE formulation is a valid methodology in removing the interior resonance problem, which occurs at a frequency corresponding to an internal resonance of the structure. Numerical results of radar cross section for coated conducting structures are presented and compared with other available solutions.

  • Propagation characteristics of electromagnetic waves in lossy tunnels are analysed using Finite Element Method with edge basis function. According to the analysis lossy dielectric wall on the tunnel highly affects the characteristics of the waves in the tunnel. Also higer modes are separated using mode orthogonality principle, and the propagation characteristics of higer modes are investigated. To verity the numerical results, miniatures of the tunnels are constructed and measurements of the waves are accomplished.

  • Recently, electricity is essential for human lives. Modem people take cultural benefits due to the development of the electric power system and the spread of the high tech-electric appliances, the cell phones, and etc. However, the electromagnetic field problems become prominent figures owing to the fault of the communication devices around the power line and the biological effect, and etc. In this paper, we introduce the simple electromagnetic field calculation based on the transmission line matrix method, prior to the analysis about the influence of electromagnetic field. Simulation object is the inner part of the trailer car in the high speed train. Unlike the existing paper we submitted, we analyze not only the magnetic field but the electric field in the inner part of the trailer car which makes up the high speed train.

  • An analysis of the microstripline is started as an assumption of the axial & transveral current distribution. Applying the boundary conditions to the scalar wave equations of a electric & magnetic potential, the two simultaneous coupled integral equations are produced. The electronmagnetic fields in microstrip line can be obtained by solving these two coupled integral equaltion. In general, either a numerical analysis method or a Galerkin method was used to solve them. In this paper, a residue theorem is proposed to solve them. The electromagnetic fields are expressed as integral equations for LSE and LSM mode in the spectral domain. Applying a residue theorem to the Fourier transformed equation and Fourier inverse transformed equation which is necessary for interchanging the space domain and the spectral domain, the electromagnetic fields are expressed as algebraic equations whichare relatively easier to handle. the distributions of the electromagnetic field are shown at the range of -5w/2.leq.x.leq.5w/2, 0.lep.y.leq.4h for z=0. It agrees well with the results of the Quasi-TEM mode analysis.

  • In this paper, electromagnetic scattering problems by a resistive strip grating with tapered resistivity on a grounded dielectric plane according to strip width and spacing, relative permittivity and thickness of dielectric layers, and incident angles of a electric wave are analyzed by applying the Fourier-Galerkin Moment Method known as a numerical procedure. The boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients and the resistive boundary condition is used for the relationship between the tangential electric field and the electric current density on the strip. The resistivity of resistive strips in this paper varies from zeroes at one edge to infinite at the other edge, then the induced surface current density on the resistive strip is expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomials of the order ${\alpha}=0.2,\;{\beta}=-0.2$ as a orthogonal polynomials. The numerical results of the geometrically normalized reflected power in this paper are compared with those for the existing perfectly conducting strip. The numerical results of the normalized reflected power for conductive strips case with zero resistivity in this paper show in good agreement with those of existing papers.
