난치성 소아 간질에서 levetiracetam의 효과 (Efficacy of levetiracetam in refractory childhood epilepsy)

  • 목 적: 간질 환자의 20-30%는 난치성 간질로 알려졌는데, 기존의 항경련제나 새로운 항경련제에 반응하지 않는 난치성 간질환자에게 LEV를 부가요법으로 투여 후 효과와 부작용을 알아보고자 본 연구를 시행하였다. 방 법: 1989년 3월부터 2009년 3월까지 충남대학교병원 소아청소년과를 방문하여 난치성 간질로 진단받은 환자 중 6개월 이상 추적 관찰한 86명을 대상으로, LEV 투여 전 6개월간의 평균 경련 횟수를 기준으로 LEV외에 다른 항경련제를 추가하기 전까지의 평균 경련 감소 정도를 백분율로 분석하였다. 결 과: 86명의 환자 중 남자는 47명, 여자는 39명이었고, 발작 소실은 86명 중 44명(51.1%), 50% 이상 발작 감소는 86명 중 62명(72.1%)이었고, 19.8%는 변화가 없었으며, 5.8%는 발작이 증가했다. 나이, 동반질환, 발작형 및 치료 전 6개월간 발작 횟수는 발작 소실이나 50% 이상 발작 감소율과 관계가 없었다. 통계적으로 의미 있는 발작 소실과 50% 이상 발작 감소를 보인 경우는, 질병기간, LEV 투여 전 치료기간, LEV의 용량과 치료 전 사용한 항경련제의 숫자였으며, LEV 치료 기간과 뇌파는 발작 소실에만 의의가 있었고, 원인은 50% 이상 감소율에만 의의가 있었다. 부작용은 86명 중 40명(46%)에서 나타났고, 부작용은 기면, 과잉 행동, 과민성, 공격성, 피로 등이었으며, 대부분 일시적이거나 경미하여 치료 도중 소실되었다. 결 론: 난치성 소아 간질의 치료에 LEV의 부가 요법은 부분 발작뿐만 아니라 전신발작에도 효과와 반응이 좋고, 심각한 부작용도 없었다.

아두이노와 Emotiv Epoc을 이용한 정상상태시각유발전위 (SSVEP) 기반의 로봇 제어 (Robot Control based on Steady-State Visual Evoked Potential using Arduino and Emotiv Epoc)

  • 본 논문은 BCI(Brain Computer Interface)기반의 정상상태시각유발전위(SSVEP : Steady-State Visual Evoked Potential)를 사용하여 무선 로봇 제어를 위한 시스템을 제안하였다. CPSD(Cross Power Spectral Density)를 사용하여 전극의 신호를 분석하였다. 또한 분류를 위해서 LDA(Linear Discriminant Analysis)와 SVM(Support Vector Machine)을 사용하였다. 그 결과 피험자들의 평균 분류율은 약 70%로 나타났다. 로봇제어의 경우 뇌파의 값을 분류하여 나타난 결과 값으로 로봇이 움직일 수 있도록 구현하였고, 블루투스 통신을 이용하여 로봇제어를 수행하였다.

Power spectrum density analysis for the influence of complete denture on the brain function of edentulous patients - pilot study

  • PURPOSE. This pilot study was to find the influence of complete denture on the brain activity and cognitive function of edentulous patients measured through Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The study recruited 20 patients aged from 50 to 60 years requiring complete dentures with inclusion and exclusion criteria. The brain function and cognitive function were analyzed with a mental state questionnaire and a 15-minute analysis of power spectral density of EEG alpha waves. The analysis included edentulous phase and post denture insertion adaptive phase, each done before and after chewing. The results obtained were statistically evaluated. RESULTS. Power Spectral Density (PSD) values increased from edentulous phase to post denture insertion adaption phase. The data were grouped as edentulous phase before chewing (EEG p1-0.0064), edentulous phase after chewing (EEG p2-0.0073), post denture insertion adaptive phase before chewing (EEG p3-0.0077), and post denture insertion adaptive phase after chewing (EEG p4-0.0096). The acquired values were statistically analyzed using paired t-test, which showed statistically significant results (P<.05). CONCLUSION. This pilot study showed functional improvement in brain function of edentulous patients with complete dentures rehabilitation.

작업난이도 변화가 인간과오 관련 뇌파 특성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Work Difficulty Variation on EEG Characteristics Related with Human Errors)

  • Electroencephalogram(EEG) would be the most objective psychophysiological research technique on human errors though few research has been taken yet. This study aimed to get characteristics of human error while committing simple Odd-Ball tasks by utilizing the power spectrum technique of EEG data. Each experiment was composed of 3 tasks with different rules, and 8 young undergraduate students participated in this study as paid subjects. The result showed in the affirmative that subject and the interaction of subject and task factors were statistically significant on variation of $\alpha$ band power $P_{\alpha/(\alpha+\beta+\theta)}$ and $\beta$ band power $P_{\beta/(\alpha+\beta+\theta)}$, and that the former increasing in backward direction to Pz reflects compatibility whereas the latter increasing in forward direction to Fz reflects familiarity. Therefore it was coucluded that, since task 2 carried out in the present research requiring decoding process would be more difficult to human beings than the task merely requiring psychological recall process, task 1 and task 3 were classified into a homogenious group excluding task 2, and the ratio $\alpha$ band power to $\beta$ band power indicated enormous increase of $\alpha$ band power relative to $\beta$ band power in the cases of contra-lateral errors, especially in task 2.

동계 인공환경실험에 의한 온열쾌적특성 연구 (A study on characteristics of thermal comfort for artificial environmental experiment in winter)

  • Recently, many researchers are studying the relation between thermal environment and human comfort. The purpose of this study was to obtain basic data which are necessary to determine the thermal comfort sensation and physiological responses for men in winter indoor environment. From January to February 1998, subject experiment was 40 times proceeded under twenty different conditions of air temperature and relative humidity with early-twenty male university students. We examined subjective evaluation, Electrocardiogram(ECG), Electroencephalogram(EEG) of subjects. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : The comfort zone of people in winter was achieved at Standard new effective temperature($SET^*$) $ 25.2^{\circ}C$, PMV range was obtained by Fanger's statistical calculation was -0.27<PMV<+0.62, TSV range obtained subjects vote was -0.76<TSV<+0.36. The largest difference of skin temperature was found at the calf area as air temperature changes. vote rate of human body presented calflongrightarrowheadlongrightarrowforearmlongrightarrowchestlongrightarrowabdo men in turn. Heart rate was decreased at low $SET^*$ and heart rate was increased at high $SET^*$ But there was no change at EEG.

뇌파와 감정반응 평가를 통한 패션제품의 TV 광고효과 연구 (Effectiveness Measurement of TV Advertisement for Fashion Goods with EEG and Affective Responses as Determined by the Types of Appeal)

  • The purpose of this study was to apply a scientific and systematic method for assessing fashion goods' TV ads effects by EEG and questionnaires as determined by the type of ads appeal. Ads stimulants used in the survey were limited to underwear and sportswear that were advertised during $2000{\sim}2002$ on TV: 4 information-transferring and 4 emotion-evoking ads were used. Subjects were thirty healthy male and female college students. EEG was extracted from six lobes and the recorded EEG was analyzed by the range of frequency of ${\theta},\;{\alpha}\;and\;{\beta}$ waves. Data were analyzed by SPSS 11.0 with reliability test, $x^2$-analysis, t-test and frequency analysis. The emotion-evoking ads showed higher scores in memory, recall and attitude towards the ads. The responses of ${\theta}\;and\;{\alpha}$ wave were active throughout the ads but the response of ${\beta}$ wave was not. The results by the survey and the EEG test showed high similarities, indicating the EEG tests could be used as the supplementary tool for measuring ads effects.

  • 병질우자의 뇌파에서 나타나는 비정상적인 극파(spike)를 삼각파형의 모델을 사용하여 자동검출하는 방법을 디지탈시스템으로 구성하였다. 이 방법은 극파가 일정한 시간폭과 큰 기울기와 정상에서 날카로운 특성을 갖는 파형이라는 성질을 이용한 것이다. 본 논문에서는 뇌파를 채집하여 신호처리한 다음 이러한 극파의 특성을 나타내는 모개변수들로부터 극파를 구별하여 판정해내는 프로그램을 구성하였다. 이러한 신호처리 과정과 검출과정을 모두 미니콤퓨터를 이용하여 구성했으며 마이크로프로세서에의 응용을 위한 기본단계라고 할 수 있다.

상황인식 기반의 u-Health Care 시스템 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on u-Health care System Design based on Context-awareness)

  • 본 논문에서는 인간의 신체와 관련된 상황정보를 기반으로 한 u-헬쓰케어 시스템 설계 연구이다. 최근 운동 클럽 에서 전문 트레이너와 함께 체계적인 운동을 하는 것이 웰빙에서 이슈가 되었지만, 그중에서 기존의 헬쓰케어 시스템은 단지 고정된 시스템에서 현재 자신의 혈압과 맥박, 심전도, 근전도 등의 일반적인 정보만 제공하기 때문에 장시간이나 장기간의 운동을 하기에는 시간이 지날수록 흥미도가 떨어지고, 사용자 자신에 맞는 관리를 하기가 어렵다. 본 논문에서 개발된 u-헬쓰케어 시스템은 센서 네트워크와 DB를 접목한 상황 인식 시스템을 이용하여 자신의 현재 상태와 운동 진행 상태를 분석한 맞춤 운동을 할 수 있는 상황인식 기반의 서비스를 제공하는 u-헬쓰케어 시스템을 설계 개발 하였다.

운전자 졸음시 냉풍 자극이 뇌파 및 심전도 반응에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Cold Air Stimulation on Electroencephalogram and Electrocardiogram during the Driver's Drowsiness)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze physiological changes via a cold air reaction experiment to generate basic data that are useful for the development of an automobile active air conditioning system to prevent drowsiness. The $CO_2$ concentration causing drowsiness in vehicle operation was kept below a certain level. Air was blown to the driver's face by using an indoor air cooling apparatus. Sleepiness and the arousal state of the driver in cold wind were measured by physiological signals. It was evident in the EEG that alpha waves decreased and beta waves increased, caused by cold air stimulation. The ${\alpha}/{\beta}$ ratio was reduced by about 52.9% and an alert state confirmed. In the electrocardiogram analysis, the efficiency of cold air stimulation was confirmed by the mean heart rate interval change. The R-R interval had a delay time of about one minute compared to the EEG response. The findings confirmed an arousal effect from sleepiness due to cold air stimulation.

시인식에서 반사상의 영향에 관한 인간공학적 연구 (An Ergonomic Study on the Effects of Veiling Reflection in Visibility)

  • Men perceive and react around him through the five senses. Also men give rise to the human sensibility and maintain his emotion. This study doesn't limit working environment to VDT environment, but considers the universal working environment acquiring information by eyesight stimulation. In case of forming an abnormal veiling reflection we consider the form ; a vertical(25%, 50%, 75%)and a horizontal(25%, 50%, 75%). The results from the subjective evaluation are analyzed by SD(Semantic Differentical methodology)of 5 point scale for visibility and nuisance when an abnormal veiling reflection forms on target. In addition, the results of the objective evaluation are suggested by measuring and analyzing EEG of bio-signal for visual sensitivity. The results of this study can apply to basic data which create a guideline of a visual operation. In particular, it can be designed as an illumination environment concerning an ergonomic factor on visual operations, mental stress such as a visual inspection operation, visual information search operation, etc. As a result, we can expect to reduce the visual nuisance and contribute to the improvement of the performance and the uplift of the competitive power.
