Fabrication and Properties of Under Gate Field Emitter Array for Back Light Unit in LCD

  • We investigated under-gate type carbon nanotube field emitter arrays (FEAs) for back light unit (BLU) in liquid crystal display (LCD). Gate oxide was formed by wet etching of ITO coated glass substrate instead of depositing $SiO_2$ on the glass substrate. Wet etching is easer and simpler than depositing and etching of thick gate oxide to isolate the gate metal from cathode electrode in triode. Field emission characteristic s of triode structure were measured. The maximum current density of 92.5 ${\mu}A/cm^2$ was when the gate and anode voltage was 95 and 2500 V, respectively at the anode-cathode spacing of 1500 ${\mu}m$.

  • In order to develop a thin type ESP(Electrostatic Precipitator) for high efficient air-conditioner with low concentration of ozone generation, collecting electrode spacing should be narrower than that from Deutsch formula and minimizes discharge current in ionizer. In this paper, the effect of applied voltage on the precipitation efficiency and ozone concentration of scroll type ESP was studied. As a result, precipitation efficiency(one pass) was improved by about 30[%] from increment of collector voltage(3.5[㎸]). Precipitation efficiency was increased with increasing ionizer voltage. And after some point, the efficiency was saturated. At the point, voltage and ionizer current was 5.2[㎸] and 95$[\muA]$ per meter respectively. At these applied voltage conditions, ozone concentration was saturated about 0.01[ppm] after 3 hours in 23$[m^3]$ closed room test.

  • Graphite is used as a negative electrode active material of Lithium ion capacitor (LIC). At the cathod, electrostatic reaction of EDLC is a very high reaction rate compared to a oxidaion reduction reaction. When the graphite was expanded that the length between the sheet, the intercalation of lithium ions is smoothed. And thus, the power density increases. By measuring the XRD, it was confirmed that the increase in interlayer spacing of graphite. And by measuring an electrochemical reactionin Lithium Ion Battery (LIB), it was confirmed the tendency of power density is improved.

  • This paper describes the design and fabrication of a soil resistivity measurement system using 9 auxiliary electrodes; 6 potential-, a reference-, a current-, and a ground- electrode. The measurement system is composed of a current source (300 [Vrms], 5 [A], Sine-wave, 45 $\sim$ 500 [Hz]), a data acquisition (400 [kS/s], 16 bit, 16 Ch.), and an operating program based on a graphical software of National Instrument Co. The proposed system is convenient for choosing the position of electrodes because the soil resistivity is calculated having no concern with the length and the spacing between electrodes.

  • The method of suppression based on the principle of energy trapping effect is very effective at high frequency. In this paper, We intended to get resonant frequency and bandpass filer characteristics in appling to vibration mode of PZT-4 and PZT-8 using trapped energy phenomenon. First, we theoretically analyzed a piezoelectric ceramic filter characteristics changing the thickness of ceramic plate, electrode spacing and distance between the two pairs of electrodes. We also experimentally investigated characteristics of ceramic filter made.

Properties of Carbon for Application of New Light Source Technology

  • Carbon films was grown on Si substrates using the method of electrolysis for methanol liquid. Deposition parameters for the growth of the carbon films were current density for the electrolysis, methanol liquid temperature and electrode spacing between anode and cathode. We examined electrical resistance and the surface morphology of carbon films formed under various conditions specified by deposition parameters. It was clarified that the high electrical resistance carbon films with smooth surface morphology are grown when a distance between the electrodes was relatively wider. We found that the electrical resistance in the films was independent of both current density and methanol liquid temperature for electrolysis. The temperature dependence of the electrical resistance in the low resistance carbon films was different from one obtained in graphite.

  • A manipulator which can separate dielectric particles (biological cells) was fabricated on a silicon wafer using polyimide and n-type electroplating. It consists of 1024 electrode arrays ($60{\mu}m{\times}60{\mu}m$) and spacing insulator. Positive dielectrophoresis is used for attracting particles. We have the solution of 3-D laplace equation about this device and calculate the force acting on the particles. The solution has spatial periodicity in the x, y directions and decays exponentially in the z direction.

  • The main cause of solar facility fires is arc, and in the last 3 years ('16 to '18), about 80% of domestic solar facility fires have been caused by arcs. The capacity of solar power facilities installed around the world continues to increase, and fires caused by arcs are also expected to increase as the solar power generation facilities that were initially installed become obsolete, In this paper, an arc generation test was conducted based on the UL1699B test standard. As a result of the test, the arc generation satisfied the minimum arc current according to the test conditions, and DC arc characteristics were analyzed through data such as arc voltage and arc current according to variables such as speed of moving electrodes and electrode spacing.
