ZnO@Ni-Co-S Core-Shell Nanorods-Decorated Carbon Fibers as Advanced Electrodes for High-Performance Supercapacitors

  • The interconnected three-dimensional Ni-Co-S nanosheets were successfully deposited on ZnO nanorods by a one-step potentiostatic electrodeposition. The Ni-Co-S nanosheets provide a large electrode/electrolyte interfacial area which has adequate electroactive sites for redox reactions. Electrochemical characterization of the ZnO@Ni-Co-S core-shell nanorods presents high specifc capacitance (1302.5 F/g and 1085 F/g at a current density of 1 A/g and 20 A/g), excellent rate capabilities (83.3% retention at 20 A/g) and great cycling stability (65% retention after 5000 cycles at a current density of 30 A/g). The outstanding electrochemical performance of the as-prepared electrode material also can be ascribed to these reasons that the special structure improved electrical conductivity and allowed the fast diffusion of electrolyte ions.

산처리 시간별 산화 코크스와 열분해 코크스의 전기화학적 거동 (Electrochemical Performances of Acid-Treated and Pyrolyzed Cokes According to Acid Treatment Time)

  • 니들 코크스의 활성화 방법으로서 기존의 방법과는 다른 $HNO_3$$NaClO_3$ 혼합용액에서의 산처리와 $300^{\circ}C$ 열처리 방법을 이용하였다. 산처리 코크스와 열분해 코크스의 미세구조는 XRD, FESEM, element analysis, BET, Raman spectroscopy를 이용하였으며, 전기이중층 거동은 충방전 분석을 행하였다. 니들 코크스는 산처리 시간에 따라 산소의 중량 %의 증가와 함께 (001) 구조로 상변화가 일어나고, $300^{\circ}C$ 열처리에서 흑연구조인 (002) 구조로 환원한다. 이들 산처리-상분해 과정에서 층간에 유기된 층간 구조결함은 first 충전에서 전계 활성화에 의해 pore를 생성하고 second 충전에서는 전기이중층 용량을 발생시킨다. 24 h 산처리-$300^{\circ}C$ 열처리한 열분해 코크스의 2.5 V까지의 2 전극 기준에서 구한 활물질 중량 당 용량과 전극 부피 당 용량는 각각 33 F/g과 30 F/mL를 나타내었다.

  • High surface area and high pore volume activated carbon was prepared by KOH activation of rice hull. The electrodes were fabricated by compounding the commercial and rice hull activated carbons with PVdF and PVdF-PVP mixed binders without addition of conductivity improver. The electrodes fabricated with rice hull activated carbon and PVdF-PVP mixed binders showed the best performance because the PVP played as a pore-forming agent. The electrode exhibited excellent electrochemical characteristics having 7.9 W.h/kg of energy density, 33.5 F/g of speific capacitance, 0.7 $\Omega$ of ESR and good efficiency of self-discharge compared with that fabricated with commercial activated carbons.

  • In this study, we fabricated anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membrane by two step anodizing process for pH detection. The structural properties were observed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM). Electrochemical measurements of the pH sensor have been performed in capacitance-voltage (C-V) and drift rates. The characterization of AAO membrane exhibited high sensitivity (99.1 mV/pH) at second anodizing time of 4 min.

방식도막에 있어서 물의 침투에 대한 전해질 용액의 영향 (Effect of Electrolyte Concentration on Water Permeation in Protective Coatings)

  • The water permeation in protective coatings, which may greatly influence the corrosion protective property of these coatings, was studied using the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique. During the absorption of water in protective coatings immersed in electrolyte solution, the change of coating capacitance with concentration of electrolyte was determined from impedance measurements. When water absorption or desorption of coatings occured by exposing the coatings to electrolyte solutions of different concentration, increase in impedance caused by desorption of water was found to be higher in the case of thicker film. The amount of water absorbed in coatings changed with concentration of electrolyte. The water taken up in coatings from the solution of lower electrolyte concentration was deserted by contact with the solution of higher concentration. The uptake of water in protective coatings varied depending on the type of coating ingredient especially binder.

Structure and EDLC Characteristics of Pitch-based Activated Carbons

  • In this work, the activated carbons (ACs) with high porosity were synthesized from pitch by KOH chemical activation. The structure and surface properties of ACs were characterized by means of elemental analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). And, the influence of the KOH-to-pitch ratio on the porosity of the ACs was investigated using the nitrogen adsorption isotherms at 77 K and a scanning electron microscopy (SEM). As a result, pitch could be successfully converted into ACs with well-developed micro and mesopores. The specific surface areas and pore volumes were increased with an increase of the KOH-to-pitch ratio. Furthermore, it was found that the addition of KOH led to the transformation of the micropores to the meso- and macropores. In the application to electric double layer capacitors (EDLC), the pitch-based ACs showed a higher capacitance per weight and per volume, and an excellent electrochemical stability in the high voltage region.

  • The purpose of this study is to research and develop conducting polymer(CP) composite electrode for supercapacitor. The radius of semicircle of CP composite cell with polyaniline(PAn) composite electrode adding 30wt% acetylene black was small. The total resistance of supercapacitor cell mainly depended on internal resistance of he electrode. The discharge capacitance of supercapacitor cell with PAn composite electrode adding 30wt% acetylene black in 1st and 50th cycles was 27F/g and 31F/g at current density of 1mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$, respectively. Supercapacitor cell with PAn composite electrode adding 30wt% acetylene black showed a good cycliability. Supercapacitor cell of CP composite electrode with 1M LiClO$_4$/PC brings out god capacitor performance below 4V.

  • It was used as measuring system to diagnose insulating condition, by which was kept a insulating resistance of inner stack and at the same time was cooled electrochemical heat of reaction of FCEV(fuel cell electric vehicle) stack that used a compressed hydrogen gas reacting with oxygen in accordance with variation on thermal degradation of nonconductive heat transfer fluid. Consequently it was developed a cylindrical multi-terminal capacitive-conductive sensor that could be attached to the internal surface of cooling system pipe to evaluate capacitance and conductivity of heat transfer fluid.

  • 4-전극 측정 용기와 정전위 전자회로를 써서 직독식 전기전도도 측정장치를 고안하여 KCl, HCl등 전해질 용액의 전기전도도를 측정하였다. 이 장치는 상용되고 있는 브릿지회로와 2-전극 용기를 쓰는 방법에서 당면하는 어려운 문제들, 특히 전극에서의 전기 이중층의 존재와 파라디임피던스 등으로 나타나는 전기화학적으로 복잡한 성질들로 인한 문제들을 피하여 정밀하고 간편한 측정에 쓰이도록 만들었다.
