  • This paper proposes a new reactive-power compensator composed of a thyristor current-source inverter. The compensator consists of a 6-pulse thyristor bridge, dc reactor, and a commutation circuit. The commutation circuit offers the thyristor bridge to have PWM operation with minimal switching losses. The operation of proposed system was analyzed by computer simulations with EMTP and experimental works with hardware scaled-model. The proposed system would have low cost and easy expansion of operation voltage due to using the conventional thyristors.

  • In this paper, the requirements for the HID lamp igniter transformer capable of hot strike are described. A small size high voltage (HV) transformer composed of a Rod type ferrite core and aluminum foil is designed. The Electro Magnetic characteristics are simulated with Finite Element Methodology (FEM). The design guideline of the HV transformer that produces an output voltage with a peak value of 25kV and a pulse width of larger than loons for a 35W automotive HID ballast prototype is discussed as an illustrative example.

  • Since HEMP has the very short rising time and propagates widespreadly with several tens of kV/m, it threatens most of systems in its cover range. Therefore, it is important to research coupling mechanism into systems and establish countermeasures for the HEMP to protect systems effectively. This paper analyzed characteristics and trends of currents to be induced at the load of a line which is located over ground with different conditions such as polarization, incidence angle, line length and height etc. We applied double exponential waveform as the HEMP shape and used BLT method to analyze the coupling route into the line. Also, we compared the simulation data of chain matrix modeling to verify reliability of BLT modeling. In the result, two data is almost agreed.

  • This paper proposes a new PWM method to reduce the common mode voltage change in three-level Vienna rectifier. This new proposed PWM method uses medium voltage vector for the three-level Vienna rectifier to determine the sum of three-phase voltage zero, and the common mode voltage variation is decreased. Using the carrier comparison method, the switching function generator for three-level Vienna rectifier has been proposed. The effects of the proposed PWM method have been verified through simulation using the PSIM.

  • 선진/주변국에서는 C4ISR/PGM(Command, Control, Communication, Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance/Precision Guided Missile)체계를 미래전의 핵심으로 인식하여 막대한 예산을 투입, 체계를 구축하고 체계의 극대화를 위해서 상호운영성, 표준화 등에 관심을 경주하고 있다. 그러나 이러한 모든 체계는 네트워크로 연결됨에 따라 미래 전의 신종 위협으로 등장한 컴퓨터 바이러스, 웜(worm), 트로이 목마(Trojan Horse), 논리폭탄(Logic bombs), 트랩도어(Trap doors), 칩핑(chipping), 나노 머신으로 분류되는 초소형로봇, EMP/HPM(Electro Magnetic Pulse/High Powered Microwave)등에 대한 취약점을 지니게 되며 이에 대한 대비책도 강구하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 미래 디지털 전쟁의 핵심인 C4ISR/PGM복합체계를 소개하고, 미래전의 특성 및 C4ISR와 PGM체계의 역할에 대해 소개하며, 특히 비대칭 전력으로 선진/주변국에서 강력하게 추진하고 있는 사이버전 현황 및 발전 추세를 제시하고, 정보전의 한계와 문제점도 제시한다.

  • Social infrastructure facilities can be destroyed instantly when exposed to EMP (ElectroMagnetic Pulse), causing social chaos. However, concrete structures with low electrical conductivity cannot expect EMP shielding effect. Therefore, in this study, a metal sprayed thin film showing excellent EMP shielding performance was applied to a concrete structure to evaluate the metal spray welding efficiency and adhesion performance of the thin film according to the concrete surface treatment method. As a result according to the concrete surface treatment method, It was confirmed that the use of a roughening agent that generates physical irregularities in order to improve the welding efficiency and adhesion performance increases the physical performance of the concrete and metal sprayed thin film.

  • PEMFC를 구성하는 여러 부품 중 핵심부품은 MEA(Membrane Electrode Assembly)으로서 실제 연료전지 반응이 일어나며 연료전지의 성능을 결정하는 부품이다. 그러나 PEMFC의 특성 상 촉매로 귀금속인 Pt가 사용됨에 따라 경제성이 확보된 MEA의 성능을 얻기 위해선 현재 Pt 담지량을 0.3mg/$cm^2$ 이하로 크게 감소시키면서 Pt촉매의 고분산화와 미반응 사이트의 감소가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 Pt 촉매의 미반응 사이트를 줄이고자 전기영동법에 의해 카본전극(carbon black + GDL) 상에 Pt 나노입자를 직접 석출시켜 Pt/C 촉매 전극을 제조 하였다. 본 실험에서는 가장 좋은 Pt 나노입자의 석출거동을 나타낸 30mA/$cm^2$, pH 2, duty cycle 25% 조건을 기준으로 하여 electro-deposition time을 통한 석출량 제어와 carbon paper의 wet proofing 정도에 따른 Pt의 석출거동을 조사하였으며, 종래의 방법으로 제조한 Pt/C 촉매전극의 전기화학적 특성과 비교 분석하였다. 전기영동 석출법에 사용된 Pt나노입자는 $H_2PtCl_6{\cdot}6H_2O$로부터 화학적 환원법으로 합성한 2~3nm 입경을 갖는 Pt콜로이드를 사용하였으며, magnetic stirring과 항온 ($20^{\circ}C$)을 유지하여 실험하였다. 전기영동 석출량 제어는 electro-deposition time을 5~25분까지 5분 간격으로 나누어 실험하였고 카본전극을 구성하는 carbon paper의 wet proofing 정도가 Pt 나노입자 석출거동에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 20, 40, 60%의 서로 다른 wet proofing 값을 갖는 carbon paper를 사용하여 Pt/C 촉매 전극을 제조하였다. 전기영동법으로 석출된 카본블랙 전극 상 Pt나노입자의 분산도와 담지량는 각각 FE-SEM과 TGA 장비를 사용하여 측정하였고, 제조된 Pt/C 촉매 전극의 전기화학적 촉매 특성은 cyclic voltammetry(CV)법으로 측정하였다.

Signal Processing Algorithm to Reduce RWR Electro-Magnetic Interference with Tail Rotor Blade of Helicopter

  • In the environment where various and complicated threat signals exist, RWR (Radar Warning Receiver), which can warn pilot of the existence of threats, has long been a necessary electronic warfare (EW) system to improve survivability of aircraft. The angle of arrival (AOA) information, the most reliable sorting parameter in the RWR, is measured by means of four-quadrant amplitude comparison direction finding (DF) technique. Each of four antennas (usually spiral antenna) of DF unit covers one of four quadrant zones, with 90 degrees apart with nearby antenna. According to the location of antenna installed in helicopter, RWR is subject to signal loss and interference by helicopter body and structures including tail bumper, rotor blade, and so on, causing a difficulty of detecting hostile emitters. In this paper, the performance degradation caused by signal interference by tail rotor blades has been estimated by measuring amplitude video signals into which RWR converts RF signals in case a part of antenna is screened by real tail rotor blade in anechoic chamber. The results show that corruption of pulse amplitude (PA) is main cause of DF error. We have proposed two algorithms for resolving the interference by tail rotor blades as below: First, expand the AOA group range for pulse grouping at the first signal analysis phase. Second, merge each of pulse trains with the other, that signal parameter except PRI and AOA is similar, after the first signal analysis phase. The presented method makes it possible to use RWR by reducing interference caused by blade screening in case antenna is screened by tail rotor blades.

  • When a metal sprayed film of several hundred ㎛ on the concrete surface is possible to 80 dB of shielding effect electromagnetic waves (ElectroMagnetic Pulse, EMP). Therefore, in this study, as a way to secure EMP shielding performance by applying a metal spray coating showing excellent EMP shielding performance to a concrete structure, the metal spray welding efficiency and thin film adhesion performance according to the concrete spray direction and surface treatment method were evaluated. Metal sprayed efficieny according to the metal spraying direction and method was confirmed that the difference was insignificant by applying the roughening agent. However, the method of strengthening the concrete surface and applying the sealing agent show maximum adhesion strength of 3.98 MPa compared to other methods, and it is judged that this method can be utilized for the metal spraying method for concrete EMP shielding.

  • EMP(Electromagnetic Pulse) protection facility was evaluated according to standard of shielding effectiveness. To comply with the standard, transmitting antenna was placed on outside of protection facility and receiving antenna was placed on inside of protection facility. However, measurement is impossible that place does not have enough space between protection facility and external concrete structure. In this paper, we performed a various of tests that put transmitting antenna inside the EMP protection facility in order to find out test method for measuring the shielding effectiveness of electromagnetic wave. Transmitting antenna was placed on inside of the EMP protection facility for measuring the shielding effectiveness to compare and analyze the impact of the position regarding to the transmitting and receiving antenna. As a result of test, in case that transmitting antenna was placed on inside of the EMP protection facility, it was found that test frequency range 10 kHz~1 GHz were occurred overall average difference of ${\pm}4$ dB level.
