MEMS 소재의 기계적 특성 평가를 위한 인장형 시편 및 시험기 제작 (A Novel Tensile Specimen and Test Machine for Mechanical Properties of MEMS Materials)

  • Mechanical property evaluation of micrometer-sized structures is necessary to help design reliable microelectromechanical systems(MEMS) devices. Most material properties are known to exhibit dependence on specimen size and such properties of microscale structures are not well characterized. This paper describes techniques developed for tensile testing of materials used in MEMS. Epi-polycrystalline silicon is currently the most widely used material, and its tensile strength has been measured as 1.52GPa. We have developed an uniaxial testing machine for testing microscale specimen using electro-magnetic actuator. The field magnet and the moving coil taken from an audio-speaker were utilized as the components of the actuator. Structure of specimen was designed and manufactured for easy handling and alignment. In addition to the static tensile tests, new techniques and procedures for measuring strength are described.

PCB 선로의 ESD 영향 및 측정법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the ESD Effect and Measurement for PCB)

  • Through the test of ESD(Electro Static Discharge) for PCB circuit, we are able to research on the ESD effect. This paper also studys on the ESD test method for measurement. In the measurement of the discharge current, we used current probe(TC-1). The applied voltage to the PCB metal is -3 kV HBM mode. In conclusion ESD influences exponentially greater impact in nearer PCB circuit.

이온층 고에너지 입자 상태와 저궤도 위성의 위성체 전위 사이의 상관관계

  • 위성체의 전위는 위성 주변의 우주 환경에 크게 영향을 받는다. 본 연구에서는 과학기술위성 1호(STSAT-1)에 탑재된 LP(Langmuir Probe)와 ESA(Electro-Static Analyzer) 관측 자료를 이용하여 위성체의 전위에 위성 주변 고에너지 입자들이 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 일반적으로 위성체가 대전되어 위성체의 부동전위가 감소할 때 위성 주변의 플라즈마 밀도는 감소하고 온도는 증가한다. 또한 DMSP 위성 등을 비롯한 이전 관측에서는 고에너지 입자의 플럭스가 증가하는 지역을 위성이 통과할 때 위성체의 전위가 감소하였다. 본 연구에서는 위성이 수 ~ 수 십 keV 정도의 고에너지 입자 플럭스가 증가한 후 감소하는 지역을 통과할 때에도 위성체의 전위가 감소하는 현상을 관측하였다. 고에너지 입자의 플럭스가 감소하는 지역에서 일어나는 위성의 대전현상을 통계적으로 분석해 보고 이러한 결과를 토대로 위성체 전위 변화에 우주환경 변화가 어떤 영향을 주는지 연구하였다.

  • Experimental studies of laser micromachining on Mo metal using piezo Q-switched Nd:YAG laser have been performed. Miniaturized microcolumn electron gun arrays as a potential electron beam lithography or portable mini-scanning electron microscope application have recently extensively examined. For these purpose, the electro-static electron lens and deflector system called microcolumn has to be assembled. The conventional microcolumn fabrication technique would gave a limitation on the minimization of aberration. The current technique of a 1 $\mu$m misalignment would lead to ~1.3 nm coma. In order to reduce aberration, assembling the microcolumn component followed by laser drilling should be very beneficial. In this report, we will address the preliminary report of laser micromachining on Mo substrate using piezo Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. The geometrical figures, such as the diameter and the depth of the frilled aperture are dependent upon the total energy of the laser pulse train, laser pulsewidth, and the diameter of laser beam in addition to the materials-dependent parameters.

  • This paper describes performance analysis techniques for SSSC using computer simulations with EMPT and experiments with a hardware scaled-model. A switching-level simulation model with EMTP was developed for the SSSC connected in series with the transmission line. The increase of transmission capability and dynamic performance was analyzed with the simulation model. The simulation results were reverified by experimental works with a hardware scaled-model. The developed analysis techniques can be used for designing and evaluating actual system of SSSC.

Electrical Characteristics and Thermal Reliability of Stacked-SCRs ESD Protection Device for High Voltage Applications

  • The latch-up immunity of the high voltage power clamps used in high voltage ESD protection devices is very becoming important in high-voltage applications. In this paper, a stacking structure with a high holding voltage and a high failure current is proposed and successfully verified in 0.18um CMOS and 0.35um BCD technology to achieve the desired holding voltage and the acceptable failure current. The experimental results show that the holding voltage of the stacking structure can be larger than the operation voltage of high-voltage applications. Changes in the characteristics of the stacking structure under high temperature conditions (300K-500K) are also investigated.

  • 본 논문에서는 모바일 컨버젼스 단말기를 위한 Tunable Image Rejection Filter를 구현 하였다. 이 필터는 TSMC 0.25um 공정을 이용해 시뮬레이션 되었다. 또한 정전기로 인한 소자의 파괴를 방지하기 위해 ESD 패드(Electro Static Discharge Pad)를 추가하였다. 영상 주파수 저지 특성은 WCDMA(2.1GHz), WiBro(2.3GHz), WLAN(2.45) 대역에서 모두 28dB 이상이고, 이때 바이어스 전압은 각각 0.5V, 0.95v, 1.8V의 전압을 가지게 되었다. 삽입 손실은 세 대역에서 모두 2dB 이하이다.

  • In this paper, a new type of electromagnetic actuator, an electro magnetic force driving actuator (EMFA) is developed and analyzed, applicable to air circuit breaker (ACB). Transient analysis is performed in order to obtain the dynamic characteristics of the EMFA. The distribution of static magnetic flux is obtained using the finite element method (FEM). The coupled problems of electrics and mechanics governing equations are solved using the time difference method (TDM). Also according to interception rate of each contactor, investigation about load condition of contactor spring is conducted, applied it to three-link system. And comparison about dynamic characteristics of three-link simulation and experiment data are performed.

  • ESD damage by Charged Cable Model (CCM) is introduced. Due to its own impedance characteristic unlike Human Body Model (HBM) or Machine Model (MM) electric component can be destroyed even though it is located after typical protection circuit. Possible mechanism of ESD damage to automotive electric control unit (ECU) in vehicle environment by CCM discharge was investigated. Based on investigation, field-returned vehicle whose ECU is expected to be damaged by CCM discharge was tested to reproduce it and similar electric component destruction inside ECU was observed. Suggestions to reduce the possibility of ESD damage by CCM are introduced.
