  • This study is for developing a system for electro-deposition utilizing sea water containing various ions like calcium and magnesium. This is the first step research for the final goal which is a development of anti-corrosive steel for RC structure, so that this paper is mainly focused on the development for electro-deposition system. Optimum conditions for steel coating is obtained through various tests considering anode type, temperature, duration time, and current density. The composition of electro-deposition is analyzed through SEM, EDS, and XRD and it is evaluated to be $CaCO_3$ and $Mg(OH)_2$. Through measuring polarization potential and current density in the coated steel, the coating layer from the developed system is evaluated to have high resistance to steel corrosion. Additional tests and discussions on durability and structural performance in the coated steel from this work will be performed for the second step research.

  • New concept of coating process, which is called Electro Magnetic Levitation-Physical Vapour deposition (EML-PVD) was developed and investigated. Zinc coating was performed and succeeded for the first time on the steel strip (Cold-rolled Steel) in a continuos pilot line using the EML-PVD process which is specialized in the high deposition rate and high vapor yield. EML-PVD will be expected to be the next generation coating technology to be applied to the steel industry.

  • High bandwidth RF such as Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, 3GSM, HSDPA is papular in the mobile phone market. A non-conducting metal coating process requires an e-beam deposition of metal, two steps of UV hard coating primer and top coating; however, it is inefficient. We navigate to the electron beam irradiation conditions(resin surface treatment conditions) in the PC/ABS resin injection process. By analyzing the experimental results, we find the optimum development conditions for the electro deposition pre-treatment process and mass production lines using the plasma generated electron beam source.

  • Galvannealing is becomming the main stream of the coating technology applied to automobile outer and inner panels due to its low cost and easy application applied to automobile outer and inner panels due to its low cost and easy application in thick Zn coating, compared to electro galvanizing. Despite of filed up data with an experience in this field, galvannealing in thick Zn coating is getting more difficult because of the absence of Fe deposition in Zn coating. As a result, it exhibits, with different steel sheet and grain size there is a proper temperature range which is good for the tarket coating thickness of galvannealing. In case of 1,200mm wide and 0.77 mm thick extra low carbon steel with 20$mu extrm{m}$ grain size, its proper temperature range for galvannealing of one side 60g/$\textrm{m}^2$ is 470-$480^{\circ}C$.

  • Cathodic current on a metal tends to increase the $OH^-$ neighboring to the metal surface, especially during electro-deposition in seawater. The increased pH at metal/seawater interface results in precipitation of brucite crystal structure-$Mg(OH)_2$ as following formula; $Mg^{2+}+2OH^-{\rightarrow}Mg(OH)_2$, that is typical mechanism of the main calcareous deposits-compound in electro deposited coating films. In this study, the effects of anode and current density on deposition rate, composition structure and morphology of the deposited films were systematically investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and x-ray diffraction(XRD), respectively in order to overcome the problems such as deposition rate and a weak adhesion between deposit film and metal surface. The adhesion and corrosion resistance of the coating films were also evaluated by anodic polarization test. The electro-deposited film formed by using AZ31-Mg anode had the most appropriate physical properties. Weight gain of electro-deposit films increased with increasing cathodic current. Electro-deposit prepared at $5A/cm^2$ current density shows better adhesion than that formed at $8{\sim}10A/cm^2$.

  • In many electro-devices, the vacuum process is used as the manufacturing process. However, the vacuum process has a problem, it is difficult to apply to a continuous process such as a R2R(roll to roll) printing process. In this paper, we propose an ESD (electro static deposition) printing process has been used to apply an organic solar cell of thin film forming. ESD is a method of liquid atomization by electrical forces, an electrostatic atomizer sprays micro-drops from the solution injected into the capillary with electrostatic force generated by electric potential of about several tens kV. The organic solar cell based on a P3HT/PCBM active layer and a PEDOT:PSS electron blocking layer prepared from ESD method shows solar-to-electrical conversion efficiency of 1.42% at AM 1.5G 1sun light illumination, while 1.86% efficiency is observed when the ESD deposition of P3HT/PCBM is performed on a spin-coated PEDOT:PSS layer.

  • Corrosion resistance is one of the essential properties required in steel bolts. The various types of coatings are used to improve the corrosion resistance of steel bolts. But, roll formed, subsequently Zn alloy electrodeposited and top coated steel bolt easily takes place the white storage stain or white rust under high humidity condition. To investigate the corrosion resistance of roll formed and subsequently the various types of coated steel bolts, their polarization curves were measured by potentio-dynamic tester in this study. Based on the measured polarization curves, the more times of chromate and top coating on roll formed steel bolt, the higher corrosion resistance was shown. The roll formed steel bolt, which was Zn-Ni electro-deposited, two times chromated, one time inorganic top coated, one time organic top coated and annealed, showed the best corrosion resistance.

  • Corrosion occurs well on surface of roll formed and Zn alloy subsequently electro-deposited on steel bolt under wet condition. In this study, variations in corrosion resistance were investigated through the measurement of polarization curves on steel bolts which were roll formed and subsequently coated with various types of coating methods. According to the measured polarization curve, Ni-P electroless deposits on roll formed steel increased the resistance to corrosion. The corrosion resistance of Zn alloy powder coated steel bolt was found to be better than that of Zn-Ni electro-deposited sample.
