A Study on the Design of a Pulse-Width Modulation DC/DC Power Converter

  • DC/DC Switching power converters are commonly used to generate regulated DC output voltages with high-power efficiencies from different DC input sources. A switching converter utilizes one or more energy storage elements such as capacitors, or transformers to efficiently transfer energy from the input to the output at periodic intervals. The fundamental boost converter studied here consists of a power metal-oxide semiconductor field effect transistor switch, an inductor, a capacitor, a diode, and a pulse-width modulation circuit with oscillator, amplifier, and comparator. A buck converter containing a switched-mode power supply is also studied. In this paper, the electrical characteristics of DC/DC power converters are simulated by simulation program with integrated circuit emphasis (SPICE). Furthermore, power efficiency was analyzed based on the specifications of each component.

  • 제4차 전력수급기본계획 수립을 위한 발전소 건설의향 조사 수행이 지식경제부 주관하에 시행되었다. 이와 관련하여 발전소 건설의향조사 결과에 대한 계통영향 평가를 의뢰받아 수행하였다. 계통측면에서의 송전요금제도를 적용하여 계통보강비용 배분의 형평성 및 송전요금의 시장신호 기능 반영으로 경제적인 전력수급계획 수립을 도모하기위해 노력하였다. 이에 본 논문에서는 한국전력에서 수행한 발전소 건설의향 계통영향평가 내용에 대하여 알아보고자 한다.

  • 구조개편 이후 전력수급계획 수립여건이 한전의 독점적 계책에서 사업자 건설의향으로 전환됨에 따라 신규설비 건설계획은 수익성 위주로 전환되었다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 기저선비(원자력, 석탄화력) 운전효율성 항상 차원에서 건설되던 양수설비의 적정 설비규모를 계통 공급신뢰도 측면, 에너지 이응 효율성 향상 측면, 전력시장에서의 경제성 측면에서 검토하여 최적전원구성(Best Fuel Mix) 유도론 위한 정책적 방향을 제시하였다.

A Metamodeling Approach for Leader Progression Model-based Shielding Failure Rate Calculation of Transmission Lines Using Artificial Neural Networks

  • The performance of transmission lines and its shielding design during a lightning phenomenon are quite essential in the maintenance of a reliable power supply to consumers. The leader progression model, as an advanced approach, has been recently developed to calculate the shielding failure rate (SFR) of transmission lines using geometrical data and physical behavior of upward and downward lightning leaders. However, such method is quite time consuming. In the present paper, an effective method that utilizes artificial neural networks (ANNs) to create a metamodel for calculating the SFR of a transmission line based on shielding angle and height is introduced. The results of investigations on a real case study reveal that, through proper selection of an ANN structure and good training, the ANN prediction is very close to the result of the detailed simulation, whereas the Processing time is by far lower than that of the detailed model.

  • This paper presents energy efficiency about an electrolyser which is related with the hybrid system of solar cell and fuel cell for using the system more fully. The water electrolyser is the exact reverse of a hydrogen fuel cell; it produces gaseous hydrogen and oxygen from water. Electrolyser technology may be implemented at a variety of scales wherever there is an electricity supply to provide hydrogen and/or oxygen for virtually any requirement. Also, this paper shows optimum operating point in the electrolyser for saving cost of the electrical energy with hybrid system.

  • The inundation of substation and ground power equipment breaks out every summer season in low-lying downtown and low-lying shore by localized heavy rain, typhoon and tidal wave. For diminishing flood damage of electrical equipment in the root, flood protection system which is used the basic frame of Pad transformer is developed using pneumatic pressure. This system is established on pressure generator equipment and sensor of flooded level operates at flooding occurrence and is maintained a shutting tightly structure. The system is able to protect indraft water in Pad Transformer and supply the electricity at emergency(flooding). And we tested safety for insulation resistance at flooding and applying an electrical current. We estimate that loss cost which is caused by with flooding and the power failure will be diminished if it is addition to advances the reliability evaluation by setting an example.

  • Recent energy efficiency policy of green growth for stable power supply is required. Urban transit vehicles is limited to reduce the use of power without reducing the number of runs. Accordingly, when urban rail vehicles is braking, the occurrence of regenerative power is systemically maximized for the purpose of saving energy. As a result when it is braking, the generated power efficiently is used and looking for a way to reduce the electrical energy. In this paper, the brake control system of the Subway Line 3 is analyzed the effect to meet the required regenerative braking produced electricity through minimizing air braking force of service braking.

  • Supplying power to microsystems that have no physical connection to the outside is difficult, and using batteries is not always appropriate. This paper discusses how to generate electricity from mechanical energy when vibrated in a cantilever beam. A model for the system predicts that the output power of the system is maximized when the mechanical damping in the system is minimized. Furthermore, to cover a wide frequency range and to be useful in a number of applications, a system of beams with different resonant frequencies has been designed and optimized. This information makes it possible to determine what design alternatives are feasible for the creation of a micro power supply for any specific application of MEMS.

한반도와 동북아지역의 전력 및 정보통신기술협력방안 (Cooperation Scheme for Electric Power and Information & Communications Technology among Korean Peninsula and North-Eastern Asia Region)

  • This study has been done to make a practical suggestion in figuring out required size of electricity power facility in preparation for reunion of Korean Peninsula, estimated based on capacity increase and demand changes in the past. In making the suggestion, balanced development of South and North Korea Economy, recovery of existing power facilities, and construction of new power facilities were taken into consideration. As an alternatives, study result of power system interconnections in Korean Peninsula and/or in North-East Asia Region, PEACE Network, is suggested with a cooperation scheme of information and communications technology as an extra advantage. Concluded a cooperation of electric power system and information & communications technology in the peninsula is expected to be a great opportunity in developing electric power economy, maintaining clear environment, improving security of power supply in the region, and in reunion of Korean Peninsula and peace in the world.

탐색곡선법과 WASP-IV 모형을 이용한 국내 적정 전원구성 분석 (Generation Mix Analysis based on the Screening Curve and WASP-IV Techniques)

  • This paper tries to elicit an optimal generation mix of Korea. Two approaches, using the screening curve method and taking advantage of a generation expansion planning tool, WASP-IV, are applied in getting the mix. The data used in this study is based on the 5th basic plan for long-term electricity supply and demand. The Load Duration Curve, that is needed for applying Screening Curve Method(SCM), is made based on the load profile in 2010. In our using SCM, the nuclear plant's operation characteristic, carbon emission cost and spinning reserve are considered. In using WASP-IV to get the adequate generation mix, the base and target demand forecasts in the 5th basic plan are used and the carbon emission cost is also considered. In this paper, It introduces the domestic adequacy generation mix in 2024 though SCM and WASP-IV.
