  • Based on the Kepco's standard supply terms, the customer should pay for installation the regulating device or protective device which are granted by Kepco in case the customer hinder other customer's electricity usage or it may cause the interruption because of harmonics or waveform distortion. It is necessary to consider the phase angle of voltage, current for harmonics so we can set up the measure of harmonic damages.

  • yongdam multipurpose is under construction to divert a part fo Geum riverlfow to Mankyung watershed and to supply the domestic water to the Chunju region and produce the hydro-electricity. Generally construction of dam by the method of inther-region water transfer affects the quantity and quality of water inthe down streams and reservoirs. The impact of operation plan of Yondgam dam on the quantity and quality of water in the Guem river and Daechung dam was investigated .It was recommended that the discharge of water transfer from one watershed to another should be minimized as much as possible.

  • The market participants make plans of bidding and transaction strategies to maximize their own profits in competitive electricity market. Also, It is concerned with transmission congestion in power market. Two methods are generally used for congestion management;nodal pricing and uplift. The participants will have different strategies for their profits in the two methods. This paper analyzes their equilibrium strategies by using the supply function model and congestion methods.

  • One of the major challenges confronting a multiservice electric utility is the establishment of the right prices, for its services. The key objectives of particular pricing schemes are reasonableness of company earnings. Economic efficiency, the responsiveness of supply and of the allocation of sources to the desires of consumers, and maintenance of some degree of competition. This paper proposes a value-based pricing mechanism amenable to the current deregulation situation in electricity market allowing service differentiation. The proposed pricing mechanism can be implemented ina nodal auction model, and can also be applied to direct load control.

  • Lighting represents a significant component of commercial buildings, particularly office buildings. Fluorescent lighting is invariably used in all commercial, industrial and residential areas. A significant amount of lighting energy is wasted every day by leaving the lights on and not utilizing daylight energy. However, if daylight illuminance can be harnessed, this will reduce the electricity consumption of fluorescent lamps and save energy. This paper explains possible significant savings in lighting energy consumption and hence in costs, without reducing the performance and visual satisfaction in office or industrial buildings. It is proposed to obtain energy saving by reducing the supply voltage without degradation in lighting performance. Experimental results confirm that as much as 20% of electrical energy can be saved by reducing about 9% of the supply voltage, without noticeably affecting light output while complying with lighting standard limits.

  • A sustainability of electricity supply has emerged as a critical issue for low carbon green growth in South Korea. Wind power is the fastest growing source of renewable energy. However, due to its own intermittency and volatility, the power supply generated from wind energy has variability in nature. Hence, accurate forecasting of wind speed and power plays a key role in the effective harvesting of wind energy and the integration of wind power into the current electric power grid. This paper presents a short-term wind speed prediction method based on support vector regression. Moreover, particle swarm optimization is adopted to find an optimum setting of hyper-parameters in support vector regression. An illustration is given by real-world data and the effect of model regularization by particle swarm optimization is discussed as well.

  • This article describes a thermoelectric converter, which is powered by thermoelectric (TE) power modules. This system uses TE devices that directly convert heat energy to electricity to power a converter using direct methanol fuel ceil (DMFC) system. The characteristics of the TE module were tested at different temperatures. A boost BC-DC converter was designed and controlled by a power-supply controller chip. Efficiency of about 80% can be achieved and because the thermoelectric converter system has not moving parts and has a small volume, the system can be carried about easily and conveniently to supply portable electric equipment and this is very important for some mobile equipment.

  • Compared with a traditional power system of electricity providers, distributed power systems consist of power suppliers which are small and demand-oriented. Each small power supplier tends to utilizes renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. It is because that home renewable energy systems do not need a large scale infrastructure which is required for traditional power plants. In this work we study an economic feasibility of such a renewable energy source. We describe how renewable power generation works and what it brings in terms of economic benefits. Also, we analyze limitations by the current policy and their possible solutions.

  • So far, electricity rate under the midnight hour incorporates policy consideration and maintains fixed irrespective of generation cost. Therefore, the promotion of midnight power apparatus has been rapidly increased due to increasing difference in substitute heating cost. This paper estimates the power supply cost during midnight times and analyzes the rate mechanism which can promote economic midnight power apparatus. In addition it provides the alternative on the direction of policy after the restructuring.
