전기광학변환소자로서의 결정과 그 응용 - 학술강연회초록

  • This is the abstract of lecture on Electro-optic characteristics of D-KDP crystal and its application for high speed shutter made by Dr. Naomi Furuya; The professor of Yamanashi University in Kofu Japan on March 31, 1973 for KEEI in the auditorium of Korea Electric Company. His lecture is listened by KEEI members that KDP Z-cut crystal can be utilized as a high speed shutter of 10$^{-6}$ second, combining special camera and 2-3KV electrical impulse generator and also recording slide photographs on tungoten lamp crystal voltage and melting fuse phenomena due to over-current taken by this special equipment had been demonstrated.

  • Shuttered Co-Cr thin films have been developed continuously as one of the major candidates for high density recording media. In this study, Co-26at%Cr thin films with c-axis oriented h.c.p. structure prepared by a improved facing targets sputtering system. We find that the effect of microstructural changes of sputtered Co-Cr thin films on magnetic properties and changes of crystal orientation due to variation substrate temperature.

다중 채널 전극의 제작 및 특성 평가 (Fabrication and Characterization of Multi-Channel Electrode Array (MEA))

  • The fabrication and experimentation of multi-channel electrodes which enable detecting and recording of multi-site neuronal signals have been investigated. A multi-channel electrode array was fabricated by depositing 2000${\AA}$ thick Au layer on the 1000${\AA}$ thick Ti adhesion layer on a glass wafer. The metal paths were patterned by wet etching and passivated by depositing a PECVD silicon nitride insulation layer to prevent signals from intermixing or cross-talking. After placing a thin slice of rat cerebellar granule cell in the culture ring located in central portion of the multi-channel electrode plate, a neuronal signal from an electrode which is in contact with the cerebellar granule cell has been detected. It was found that the electrode impedance ranges 200㏀∼1㏁ and the impedance is not changed by cleaning with nitric acid. Also, the impedance is inversely proportion to the exposed electrode area and the cross-talk is negligible when the electrode spacing is bigger than 600$\mu\textrm{m}$. The amplitude and frequency of the measured action potential were 38㎷ and 2㎑, which are typical values. From the experimental results, the fabricated multi-channel electrode array proved to be suitable for multi-site neuronal signal detection for the analysis of a complicated cell network.

  • We have been carried out the two-beam interference method to form the diffraction grating on chalcogenide $AS_{40}Se_{15}S_{35}Ge_{10}$ thin films for Holography Data Storage (HDS). In the present work, we have been formed holographic diffraction gratings using He-Ne laser (632.8nm) under different Polarization state combinations (intensity polarization holography, phase polarization holography). It was obtained the diffraction grating efficiency by 11st order intensity and investigated the formed grating structure using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). As the results, it is shown that the diffraction efficiency of (P: P) polarized recording was maximum 2.4% and we found that its value was rather higher than that of other-polarized recordings. From the results, it is confirmed that the efficient holographic grating formation on amorphous chalcogenide $AS_{40}Se_{15}S_{35}Ge_{10}$ films depend on both the spatial variation of intensity and the polarization state of the incident field pattern.

  • Multimedia has created a system environment that needs a combination of diverse peripherals, faster I/O, and easier configuration. The sheer volume of data one can expect with multimedia hardware and applications storage systems of higher capacity and faster data transfer rate. Unlike the magneto-optical(MO)disk technology which uses bias magnetic field in writing, both the reading and the writing in the phase change (PC) technology are performed only by laser light. In PC optical media, an active layer is reversibly converted between amorphous state and crystalline state by changing irradiation conditions of focused laser beam. Thus, as compared with MO disk, the PC disk has such great advantages that signals can be reproduced by change of reflectance of laser beams in the same manner as the compact disc. The reflectivity of a phase-change spot can be altered in a single pass under the head only through modulation of laser power. The principles and the current status of phase-change optical recording media combined with possible applications are discussed in the present article.

  • Microdrive with high precision and light mass enough to install on mouse head was fabricated for recording the reliable signal of neuron cell to understand the brain study. The proposed microdrive has three H-form PZT actuators and its guide structure. The microdrive operation principle is based on the well known inchworm principle. The synchronization of three PZT actuators is able to produce the linear motion along the guide structure. Our proposed microdrive has a precise accuracy of about 100nm and a long stroke of about 5mm. The electrode which is used for the recording of the action potential of the neuron cell was fixed at one of PZT actuators. The proposed microdrive was suited to acquisition of signals from in vivo extra-cellular single-unit recoding. On the condition of the anesthetized mouse, the single-unit signals could be recorded by using the proposed microdrive. In addition, applying the PZT microdrive to an alert mouse, we try to implant it on a mouse brain skull to explore single neuron firing.

말초 신경 신호 기록의 효율성 개선을 위한 전도성 폴리머가 적용된 생체삽입형 커프형 신경전극 (Implantable Nerve Cuff Electrode with Conductive Polymer for Improving Recording Signal Quality at Peripheral Nerve)

  • This study demonstrates a polyimide nerve cuff electrode with a conductive polymer for improving recording signal quality at peripheral nerve. The nerve cuff electrodes with platinum (Pt), iridium oxide (IrOx), and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): p-toluene sulfonate (PEDOT:pTS) were fabricated and investigated their electrical characteristics for improving recorded nerve signal quality. The fabricated nerve cuff electrodes with Pt, IrOx, and PEDOT:pTS were characterized their impedance and CDC by using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry. The impedance of PEDOT:pTS measured at 1 kHz was $257{\Omega}$, which was extremely lower than the value of the nerve cuff electrodes with IrOx ($15897{\Omega}$) and Pt ($952{\Omega}$), respectively. Furthermore, the charge delivery capacity (CDC) of the nerve cuff electrode with PEDOT:pTS was dramatically increased to 62 times than the nerve cuff electrode with IrOx. In ex-vivo test using extracted sciatic nerve of spaque-dawley rat (SD rat), the PEDOT:pTS group exhibited higher signal-to-interference ratio than IrOx group. These results indicated that the nerve cuff electrode with PEDOT:pTS is promising for effective implantable nerve signal recording.

위전도 측정을 위한 전극간 부착거리에 관한 연구 (Influences of Inter-electrode Distance on Electrogastrography Measurements)

  • Cutaneous electrogastrography is the measurement of electrical activity of the stomach on the abdominal surface. The validity of cutaneous electrogastrography is dependent upon the quality of the recording technique. The locations of electrodes are an important issue. We examined the influences of the inter-electrode distance of bipolar leads on electrogastrography measurements. The sensitivity distributions of EGG leads were calculated based on a 2D body fat model and evaluated according to the region of interest sensitivity ratio (ROISR). We simulated the ROISR of the inter-electrode distance in relation to various body fat thicknesses. The distance between the electrodes was proportional to the distance between the ROI and the surface of the abdomen. The results imply that inter-electrode distance can be applied in electrogastrography according to human body fat thickness.

  • For lihgtning and switching impulse voltage performances in laboratories, impulse voltage measuring system, which is consisted of voltage divider, recording instrument and connecting system between divider and recording instrument, is used. In order to show reliability of test result in test laboratory, tracebility of these measuring system to be using in test laboratory is needed. In this paper, we describe tracebility and uncertainty of impulse voltage measuring system in test laboratory.
