This paper presents the two lossless auxiliary inductors-assisted voltage source type half bridge (single ended push pull: SEPP) series resonant high frequency inverter for induction heated fixing roller in copy and printing machines. The simple high-frequency inverter treated here can completely achieve stable zero current soft switching (ZCS) commutation for wide its output power regulation ranges and load variations under its constant high frequency pulse density modulation (PDM) scheme. Its transient and steady state operating principle is originally described and discussed for a constant high-frequency PDM control strategy under a stable ZCS operation commutation, together with its output effective power regulation characteristics-based on the high frequency PDM strategy. The experimental operating performances of this voltage source SEPP ZCS-PDM series resonant high frequency inverter using IGBTs are illustrated as compared with computer simulation results and experimental ones. Its power losses analysis and actual efficiency are evaluated and discussed on the basis of simulation and experimental results. The feasible effectiveness of this high frequency inverter appliance implemented here is proved from the practical point of view.

Recently, it has been found that it is important to use a smart grid to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions worldwide. A smart grid is a digitally enabled electrical grid that gathers, distributes, and acts on information regarding the behavior of all participants (suppliers and consumers) to improve the efficiency, importance, reliability, economics, and sustainability of electricity services. The smart grid technology uses two-way communication, where users can monitor and limit the electricity consumption of their home appliances in real time. Likewise, power companies can monitor and limit the electricity consumption of home appliances for stabilization of the electricity supply. However, if information regarding the measured electricity consumption of a user is leaked, serious privacy issues may arise, as such information may be used as a source of data mining of the electricity consumption patterns or life cycles of home residents. In this paper, we propose a data transaction protocol for privacy protection in a smart grid. In addition, a power company cannot decrypt an encrypted home appliance ID without the user's password.

In this paper, we study a method that amplifies the output gain of a high voltage pulse using 300 kHz or higher frequency. We conducted a study on a method for amplifying the output gain using the resonance between the capacitance components of the load and the parasitic components of the circuit, instead of the conservative method for amplifying the pulse-amplitude by raising the voltage of the power stage. In particular, the method simplifies the circuit configuration throughout the appliance of flyback-type topology instead of the bridge-type. There are advantages that prevent damage from overload and the heat in the output circuit through the hard switching by amplifying the gain of the output voltage applying to the load as given by the capacitance component of the output electrode to the output pulse waveform. This study proposed a method to enhance the spatial and electrical efficiency of the contact-type heating device through the dielectric heating method applied to the field of medical and industrial heating.

Recently, energy resource management is a major concern around the world. Energy management activities minimize environmental impacts of the energy production. This paper presents design and prototyping of a home electric energy monitoring system that provides residential consumers with real time information about their electricity use. The developed system is composed of an in-house sensing system and a server system. The in-home sensing system is a set of wireless smart plug which have an AC power socket, a relay to switch the socket ON/OFF, a CT sensor to sense current of load appliance and a Kmote. The Kmote is a wireless communication interface based on TinyOS. Each sensing node sends its detection signal to a home gateway via wireless link. The home gateway stores the received signals into a remote database. The server system is composed of a database server and a web server, which provides web-based monitoring system to residential consumers. We analyzed and presented energy consumption data from electrical appliances for 3 months in home. The experimental results show the promising possibilities to estimate the energy consumption patterns and the current status.

Since existing nonintrusive appliance load monitoring (NIALM) studies assume that voltage fluctuations are negligible for load identification, and do not affect the identification results, the power factor or harmonic signals associated with voltage are generally not considered parameters for load identification, which limits the application of NIALM in the Smart Home sector. Experiments in this paper indicate that the parameters related to voltage and the characteristics of harmonics should be used to improve the accuracy and reliability of the load monitoring system. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an improved NIALM method that can efficiently analyze the types of household appliances and electrical energy usage in a home network environment. The proposed method is able to analyze the energy usage pattern by analyzing operation characteristics inherent to household appliances using harmonic characteristics of some household appliances as recognition parameters. Through the proposed method, we expect to be able to provide services to the smart grid electric power demand management market and increase the energy efficiency of home appliances actually operating in a home network.

Spectrum analyzer and electromagnetic field meter were used to investigate the EM generation behaviour in different types of home electrical appliances. During microwave oven operation, the EM power measured at a point 30cm apart was measured in the range of 8~11mW/㎡, the strength of the low frequency magnetic field was 60~80mG and the electric field strength was measured at 150~160V/m. For smart phone wireless charging pad, it was measured at an electromagnetic power of 0.4mW/㎡, an electric field of 160 V/m and a magnetic field of 1mG at a point 10cm away. For microwave oven and wireless charging pad, if used within 10cm, the size of the electric field has been measured at a large value that exceeds the human body protection standard and may be hazardous to humans. On the other hand, home appliances such as TVs, hairdryers and refrigerators all showed very low levels of electromagnetic waves, electric fields and magnetic fields, with no harmful effects seen. For electromagnetic shielding, the metal Cu fabric and metal foil had a high level of EM shielding, while polymer films had a low EM shielding characteristic.

Electric current is a highly probable way as a clinical tool for tooth movement. The purposes of this study were to determine the usefulness of exogenous electric currents in accelerating orthodontic tooth movement and to investigate the effects of electric-orthodontic treatment on the remodeling of the periodontal tissue histologically The study was performed with six male cats weighing around 3kg. The electric device wich is providing the direct electric current of $20{\mu}A$ was inserted to the removable appliance. The right and left maxillary canines were assigned as control and experimental sides respectively. The control canine was Provided with orthodontic force (75gm) oかy and the experimental side was given the same amount of force and electricity. The lingual buttons were bonded to the maxillary canines and both sides of canines were retracted with NiTi coil spring. The electric device was adjusted to provide 20uh direct current to the experimental canines S hours a day The amount of the canine movement was measured with electronic caliper every week. After 4 weeks of tooth movement, the animals were sacrificed and the histologic study was performed. The results of this study were as follows. 1. The application of a direct current to the experimental tooth significantly increased the final amount of orthodontic tooth movement. The amount of tooth movement after 28-day was 37% more in the experimental side. 2. The electrically stimulated tooth showed histologic evidence of significant increases in the amount of bones and matrix deposition in the area of tension. 3. In the compression side, the electric-orthodontic treatment stimulated bone resorption more extensively in the experimental canines. 4. After 28 days of electricity exposure and orthodontic force, the experimental side demonstrated significantly more osteoblasts, osteoclasts, capillaries and osteoid tissues, reflectinr an increase in the local tissue's cellular activity. 5. Intermittent electrical stimulation (five hours a day) had effects to enhance orthodontic tooth movement and tissue remodeling. These results suggested that the low-intensity exogenous electric current by the miniature electric device might accelerate orthodontic tooth movement and bone remodeling in vivo and have the possibility to reduce the orthodontic treatment duration.
