  • This paper deals with the robust two-degree-of-freedom multivariable control system using $H_{2}/H{\infty}$optimization method which can achieve the robust stability and the robust performance, simultaneously. The feedback controller can obtain the robust stability property. The feedforward controller can obtain the robust performance property under modelling error. The robust two-degree-of-freedom multivariable control system is applied to the nonlinear multivariable boiler-turbine system. The validity of the proposed method is verified though being compared with LQG/LTR design method.

  • As rapid growth of energy demand in line with modem society's industrialization led to environmental pollution by fossil fuels, there are more and more interest and international research on energization of water, which is clean energy and comprising $70\%$ of earth. In offshore countries, the water is commercially used already and water has very attractive characteristics in terms of economy and efficiency compared to the existing gas welder. In this paper, the result from operating characteristic improvement of Gas Generator and Current-Controlled converter is to be considered into design in electrode, source and controller, standized into level of whole system design base.

  • This paper proposes a method for dynamic output-feedback controller design for stochastic time-delay systems. Based on recent results on time-delay systems control, a tractable and delay-dependent design condition is proposed, which provides a dynamic output-feedback controller to render the closed-loop stochastic time-delay systems to be asymptotically stable in the mean-square sense. The feasibility problem of the proposed condition is recast into a cone complementarity problem. An algorithm adopting cone complementarity linearization is presented to solve the resulting problem.

  • Genetic algorithms (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) are the most famous optimization techniques among various modern heuristic optimization techniques. These two approaches identify the solution to a given objective function, but they employ different strategies and computational effort; therefore, a comparison of their performance is needed. This paper presents the application and performance comparison of the PSO and GA optimization techniques for a static synchronous series compensator-based controller design. The design objective is to enhance power system stability. The design problem of the FACTS-based controller is formulated as an optimization problem, and both PSO and GA optimization techniques are employed to search for the optimal controller parameters.

  • This study presents a design method for linear DC motor which substituted for rotary combined with conversion apparatus and the designed motor is analyzed. To design the linear DC motor, magnetic cicuit network method is introduced and characteristics of motor at steady state are analyzed using FEM. And the transient behavior is investigated by using the finite element analysis coupling voltage equation and dynamic equation.

  • By reason of variation magnetic field, cogging torque is generated. Cogging torque of Spoke type motor is bigger than other type permanent magnet motor. So, this paper presents a design notch on stator and variation rotor shape to reduce cogging torque of Spoke Type motor. Through Fourier formulation of magnetic field on air gap, we found position of notch. The validity of the proposed design is confirmed with FEM analysis method.

도립진자의 스윙업 제어기 설계 (Design of a Swing Up Controller for Inverted Pendulum System)

  • In experiment, a real inverted pendulum system has state constraints and limited amplitude of input. These problems make it difficult to design a swing-up controller. To overcome these problems, we design a sliding mode controller considering physical behaviour of the inverted pendulum system. This sliding mode controller uses a switching control action to converge along a specified path derived from energy equation from a state around the path to desired states(standing position). And optimal control method is used to guarantee stability at unstable equilibrium position. The designed controller can be applied to all inverted pendulum systems regardless of the values of their parameters. Compared with previous existing controllers, it is simple and easy to tune. Experimental results are given to show the effectiveness of this controller.

Optimal Design of Multi-DOF Deflection Type PM Motor by Response Surface Methodology

  • This paper uses response surface methodology as the optimization method of torque of multi-DOF deflection type PM motor. Firstly, the application of Taguchi algorithm selects structural parameters affecting the motor torque largely which simplifies the optimization process greatly. Then, based on the central composite design (CCD), response surface equation numerical model is constructed by the finite element method. With the aid of experiment design and analysis software, the effects of the interaction among factors on the index are analyzed. The results show that the analytical method is efficient and reliable and the experimental results can be predicted by response surface functions.

  • This paper presents the vibration characteristic of interior type permanent magnet (IPM) motor according to rotor design. In the design methods, the optimal notchs are put on the rotor pole face, which have an effect on variation of permanent magnet (PM) shape or residual flux density of PM. Through the space harmonics field analysis, the positions of notch are found and the optimal shapes of notch are decided by using Finite Element Method (FEM). The validity of the proposed method is confirmed with experiments. Therefore, the vibration, starting current and efficiency of IPM is measured by experiment.

  • This paper presents the structure design for optimizing output power density and efficiency to develop a spoke-type interior permanent magnet synchronous generator (IPMSG). To obtain the optimal structure, the combination of response surface method (RSM) and 2-D finite element analysis can solve the problem effectively for reducing the volume of permanent magnets (PMs) and maximizing the ratio between power density and efficiency. The effectiveness of this proposed structure design is verified by the simulation and experiment according to the comparison of the electromagnetic characteristics between the initial and modified structure.
