  • Recently, researches on SOC(State Of Charge) of batteries are being increased. Techniques of measuring the battery SOC is essential to researches on increasing cycle life of batteries and to electric vehicle battery charging systems. The surface charge phenomenon of lead storage batteries and the needs of SOC measuring techniques are considered. Features of SOC measuring techniques that have been recently developed are also considered.

  • This paper proposed that an AC-DC converter system using multiple buck-chopper operates with four choppers connecting to a number of parallel circuits. To improve these, a large number of soft switching topologies included a resonant circuit have been proposed. And, some simulative results on computer are included to confirm the validity of the analytical results. The partial resonant circuit makes use of an inductor using step-down and a condenser of loss-less snubber. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of system is high. And the snubber condenser used in a partial resonant circuit makes charging energy regenerated at input power source for resonant operation. The proposed conversion system is deemed the most suitable for high power applications where the power switching devices are used.

Surface Characterization of Silicone Rubber for Outdoor Insulation by Measurement of Surface Voltage Decay

  • The influence of ultraviolet (UV) irradiation and corona on the surface degradation of high temperature vulcanized (HTV) silicone rubber used for outdoor insulation through measuring surface voltage decay after corona charging, surface resistivity, contact angle and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis was studied. The surface resistivity calculated by the surface voltage decay was compared with a value directly obtained from the three electrode method having the guard ring electrode. A good agreement between the two methods for surface resistivity was obtained. UV treated specimens showed the slower decrease of surface voltage decay, while the corona exposed specimens showed a dramatically faster decrease. Although both artificial treatments cause the same oxidative products, which was confirmed with XPS, we could distinguish the difference between the reactions of the two treatments by monitoring the surface voltage decay on corona-charged specimen. In addition, we could derive the specific surface states of the silicone rubber treated by accelerated artificial aging factors and the degradation process.

  • LLC resonant converter is used to control laser power density in ruby laser power supply. Zero voltage switching(ZVS) is implemented to minimize the switching loss by the LLC resonant converter. Laser output power is investigated and experimented by changing the output current. That current is controled by the charging voltage of capacitor. From those results, we obtained the maximum laser output of 1.94J at the discharge current of 860A and the pulse repetition rate of 1Hz.

  • Equivalent series impedance of high-voltage pulsed power capacitor is one of the important electrical characteristics both for users and for capacitor manufacturers because it may have serious effects on the performance of pulse forming circuits. In this paper, definition of equivalent series impedance and factors which generate equivalent series impedance are reviewed. Theoretical analysis for the calculation of equivalent series impedance based on differential measurement method is described and calculation program has been developed. In order to acquire data which are necessary to calculate equivalent series impedance from discharging current waveform, charging-dischargig controller has been manufactured. Measurement results of equivalent series impedance for high voltage pulsed power capacitor have been given.

  • This paper present a 7-level PWM inverter adopting voltage balancing control to series-connected input capacitors. The prior proposed 7-level PWM inverter consists of dc input source, three series-connected capacitors, two bidirectional switch modules, and an H-bridge. This circuit topology is useful to increase the number of output voltage levels, however it fails to generate 7-level in output voltage without consideration for voltage balancing among series-connected capacitors. Capacitor voltage imbalance is caused on the different period between charging and discharging of capacitor. To solve this problem, we uses the amplitude modulation of carrier wave, which is used to produce the center output voltage level. To verify the validity of the proposed control method, we carried out computer-aided simulation and experiments using a prototype.

  • 최근 계속되는 유가 상승과 화석에너지의 고갈 문제, 그리고 환경에 대한 관심 증가로 인해 자동차의 연비 개선 및 배기가스 저감을 위한 친환경 저연비 자동차 기술이 요구되고 있다. 이들 중 하이브리드 차량은 화학적 에너지 저장 장치에 차량 감속 시 회생 제동을 통해 전기 에너지를 저장하고 가속 시 이 에너지를 다시 사용함으로써 연비 개선과 배기가스 저감 효과를 가져 올 수 있다. 이를 위하여 회생 제동 시에 발생하는 에너지를 저장하기 위해 배터리 또는 초고용량 커패시터가 사용 된다. 본 논문에서는 두 에너지 저장 장치의 특성을 전기적인 등가회로 모델로 표현하고 주파수 응답을 통해 온도와 SOC에 따른 각각의 회로 정수를 산출할 뿐 아니라 이 때 주파수 변화에 따른 전압과 전류의 위상차와 역률에 관하여 알아보고자한다.

  • This paper presents a low-cost portable lithium battery parameter measuring and estimating the solution. In this method, lithium battery characteristics are monitored during discharging and charging cycles. The battery profile is analyzed, and its key parameters are estimated by GNU Octave running on Raspberry Pi Zero, a mini computer. The proposed method can measure and estimate the battery parameters for SOC and DOD estimation with reasonable accuracy as well as portability features.

  • The color and the installation position of the LED lamp for night voyage of the ship are changed by the purpose of it. The power dissipation occurs because a navigation light is on and off or continuously on. In addition, in case that the light is produced by operating generator in the ship, it's very inefficient except that it's on a voyage. Therefore in this dissertation, we construct auxiliary power system for the LED lamp of the ship, producing and developing a module, a panel, and a charging system using Dye-sensitize Solar Cell.

  • In this paper, synthetic conditions of titania nanparticle was investigated to enhance its uniformity of the particle size as a child particle on organic mother particle of liquid powder type electronic paper. The physical properties are very important to improve the uniformity of electrical charging properties Concentration of titania raw material ($C_9H_{19}NO_4Ti$) in the ethanol solvent, pH, and concentration of the solution in the D.I. water were selected as parameters. As a result, ultrafine and well crystallized titania nanoparticle with good uniformity could be synthesized as the concentration of the $C_9H_{19}NO_4Ti$ in the ethanol solvent, pH of the solution, and the amount of the D.I. water were increased. Using the optimized conditions, the titania nanparoticle with uniformly ultrafime size of 10 nm could be synthesized.
