  • Purpose : The purpose of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the effects of electrical stimulation on patients with non-specific low back pain. Methods : Domestic databases were gathered from studies that conducted clinical trials associated with electrical stimulation and its impact on pain of non-specific low back patients. A total of 681 studies were identified, with 12 studies satisfying the inclusion data. The studies consisted of patient, intervention, comparison, outcome, and study design (PICO-SD). The search outcomes were items associated with low back pain. Cochrane risk of bias 2 (RoB 2) was used to evaluate the quality of 12 randomized controlled trials. Effect sizes (Hedges's g) in this study were computed as the corrected standard mean difference (SMD). A random-effect model was used to analyze the effect size because of the high heterogeneity among the studies. Egger's regression and 'trim-and-fill' tests were carried out to analyze the publication bias. Cumulative meta-analysis and sensitivity analysis were conducted to analyze the effect according to the sample size and the consistency of the effect size. Results : The following factors had a large overall effect size (Hedges's g=1.28, 95 % CI=.20~2.36) involving electrical stimulation on non-specific low back pain. The subgroup analysis all showed a statistical difference in the types of study design, electrical stimulation, and assessment tool. No statistically significant difference was found in the meta-regression analysis. Publican bias was found in the data. Conclusion : The findings in this study indicate that electrical stimulation interventions have a positive effect on patients with non-specific low back pain. However, due to the low quality of studies and publication bias, the results of our study should be interpreted cautiously.

  • This paper describes an interactive educational software developed at Konkuk University. This software provides an educational opportunity for electrical engineering students at the junior level to expand their knowledge about fault analysis in power systems. The developed educational software has three main modules: 1) Z-building, 2) setting the type and location of the fault, 3) displaying the calculated fault currents, according to the given simulation options. The main features of this tool are the diversification of acquisition network data, the function of learning about the z-building procedures, and the dynamic display function of state vectors-all voltage/current phasor. To verity the effectiveness of the developed educational software, some case studies are performed.

  • This paper deals with the characteristic analysis of the single phase switched reluctance motor based on the converter coupled FE analysis. The converter comprises a rectifier, LC filter and switching power device. A computational technique for the converter coupled FE analysis is introduced and its validity is proven by the experiment.

  • In the development of an interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM) for high-speed operation, the problem of mechanical stress of the rotor by centrifugal force becomes more essential as the speed and size of the machines increase. In this paper, the optimal design process combined with mechanical stress analysis was presented. In the analysis of mechanical stress, the node and element data obtained by the electromagnetic field analysis program are also used in the stress analysis. Therefore, the different pre-processing for the stress analysis program is no longer required. Therefore, the computing time of the new method is very short compared with the conventional approach, and when repeated analyzes of various models are required, this method is very useful. The validity of our methods was verified by comparing simulation results with conventional and experimental data.

  • For reliable operation of oil-filled electrical equipment, monitoring and maintenance of insulating oil is essential. Dissolved gas analysis(DGA) is widely used for monitoring faults in high voltage electrical equipment in service. Therefore, oil analysis should be monitored regularly during its service life. KEPCO has investigated thousands of dissolved gas analysis data since 1985, and conducted studies on the relationship of gas in oil analysis and internal inspection results of transformer. As the results, KEPCO revised criteria for transformer diagnosis and has applied it since 2008. Almost of 100 cases of internal inspection results since 2001 have been investigated. This paper presents the correlation of the fault-identifying gases with faults found in actual transformers and how should we approach to internal inspection of transformer by dissolved gas analysis.

  • In this paper, a method for multi-physics analysis of the temperature-dependent properties of an oil-immersed transformer is discussed. To couple thermal fields with electromagnetic and fluid fields, an algorithm employing a user defined function (UDF) is proposed. Using electromagnetic analysis, electric power loss dependent on temperature rise is calculated; these are used as input data for multi-physics analysis in order to predict the temperature rise. A heat transfer coefficient is applied only at the outermost boundary between transformer and the atmosphere in order to reduce the analysis region. To verify the validity of the proposed method, the predicted temperature rises in high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) windings and radiators were compared with the experimental values.

  • Built-in redundancy analysis (BIRA) is widely used to enhance the yield of embedded memories. In this letter, a new BIRA method for both high repair efficiency and small hardware overhead is presented. The proposed method performs redundancy analysis operations using the spare mapping registers with a covered fault list. Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method compared to previous works.

  • In this paper, we propose the analysis method of the Double Circuit Simultaneous Fault. To improve the accuracy and the promptness of the coontingency analysis, we reformed the Peterson method and extended the Sherman-Morrison equation. We also used the table of trigono -metric factor of Jacobian matrix before the fault, to compute the inverse matrix needed in the loadflow calculation.
