  • In recent years, electric shock accidents due to electric leakage currents of household appliances such as computers, TVs, refrigerators, and LED lights are continuously occurring in homes and industrial buildings. And it is not easy to check the leakage current of each household appliances connected in parallel at the rear end of the module. In addition, the leakage current flowing through the path of the normal current other than the existing current leakage circuit breakers are installed in the distribution box, only the function to cut off the power when the leakage. Therefore, there are various disasters such as electric shock and fire caused by short circuit of household appliances, and the risk of such leakage current is seriously presented. In this paper, we propose a method to implement a leakage monitoring system that can be monitored at all times using Zigbee communication based on IEEE 80215.4, which has advantages in low power and low cost among short range wireless communication systems.

  • In this study, 5 steps of different delay intervals are applied to a plasma rock-breaking machine that is driven by electric shocks in order to improve the workability of the traditional single-shot type plasma rock-breaking operation. The sequential steps use the electrolyte volume per delay of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 kg and it has been analyzed to measure the delay time and level of the ground vibration and noise according to exploding. The delay time of the rock-breaking machine by an electric shock of 5 steps has used about 40~50ms at the electrolyte connected from 1 to 3 holes, about 70~80ms at the electrolyte connected from 4 to 5 holes. It is identified that the extents of the ground vibration is low to 1 over 3~6 compared with that of the emulsion explosives.

  • Magneto-electric encoders have been widely used in industry and military applications because of their good shock resistance, small volume, and convenient data processing. However, the characteristics of a magneto-electric encoder's signal generator and hall sensor changes minimally with temperature variation. These changes cause an angle drift. The main purpose of this study is to construct the compensation system of a neural network and constantly update weight coefficients of temperature correction by finite iteration calculation so that the angle value modified can approach the angle value at the target temperature. This approach is used in adaptive correction of the angle value.

  • Every year, lives are lost due to electrical safety accidents that could have been prevented with proper education and awareness of electrical safety. To prevent such accidents, experiential education is more effective than indoctrination education. This paper describes the electrical safety education system based on virtual reality (VR) and evaluates effect of the proposed system. Users operated the experiential electrical safety education system, and they were provided electrical stimulation in an electric shock experience using a haptic device. Appropriate stimulation values were calculated according to age (children vs. adults) and gender through experiment. The scenario in which participants experience electrical safety in the home environment was structured, and related educational contents was produced. A total of 68 healthy elementary students evaluated the educational effect of the system. The results showed that the educational effect and the sustainability of effect of the proposed system are superior to those of existing multimedia learning methods. By implementing electrical safety education stimulating the senses of human, the learning effect was promoted and this experiential education would be able to prevent electrical accidents.

  • Recently, many renewable energy generating businesses are ongoing progress due to the introduction of the RPS(Renewable Portfolio Standards) as well as the needs of environmentally friendly energy resources. Researches on photovoltaic system are actively being processed since the photovoltaic system is relatively easy to install and becomes commercialized in many domestic application areas. Furthermore, the floating photovoltaic system is likely to be installed more actively since the conventional photovoltaic system requires relatively large areas of land. Also, the floating photovoltaic system is more efficient than photovoltaic system installed in land due to the operation in lower temperature. However, safety problems such as electric shock could arise since the cable should be installed in the water. In this paper, the leakage current and the voltage rising are measured and analyzed for the case when the cables are damaged connecting the floating photovoltaic system to the grid.

  • The grounding system of low voltage power systems is TT grounding system in Korea. In order to follow the international standard, TN grounding system is adopted. However, the performance of grounding systems has not been evaluated. This paper deals with the experimental results of protection ability of grounding system when lightning surge invades to the neutral line of low voltage power system. As a result, the TT grounding system is most frail for the lightning surge and it does not protect the electrical devices. On the other hand, the TN grounding system perfectly protects the electrical equipment and prevents the electric shock for human through the equipotential bonding. In case of TN system with supplement grounding, it is very important to lower the supplement grounding resistance to protect the electrical equipment and electric shock for human.

  • In MHD power generation system, enthalpy of the working gas is convened to electric power directly through expansion in generator channel. It means that electric power can be generated without a moving mechanical linkage such as turbine blades. The principle of MHD generation is based on Faraday'law of induction that eletromotive force(u$\times$B) is generated when the working gas of velocity u flows a channel in which magnetic field of strength(B) exists. In this paper, helium gas seeded with cesium is used as working gas. There are two types of generator in MHD generation; linear type faraday and disk type hall generator. Rogowski coils having the bandwidth of the 100(Hz) ~ 20(kHz) were used for measuring current flowing MHD disk channel. Optimum load resistor value of the MHD generator studied was 2.5[$\Omega$]. Disk type hall generator's generation performance is the main target of this paper, which superiors to linear type Faraday generator in many points. Isentropic efficiency and enthalpy extraction rate of disk type shock tube driven hall generator is discussed here.

  • This paper presents the distributions of ground surface potential rises as functions of soil structure and buried depth of ground rod. To propose fundamental data relevant to the reduction of electric shock of human beings due to ground surface rise, the ground surface potential rises near the ground rod were computed and measured. Ground surface potential rises near ground rod strongly depend on the soil structure, and an increase of the buried depth of ground rod results in a decrease of the ground surface potentials. The maximum ground surface potential appeared at the just above point of ground rod. Also, the measured results were in reasonably agreement with the data computered by grounding analysis program.

  • Various neurotransmitters are involved in regulating stress systems. In this study, we investigated the combination relieving effect of green tea extract(GTE) and L-theanine on the stress induced by electric foot shock. Four week oral administration of GTE (24 mg/kg), L-theanine (4 mg/kg) or their combination reduced the levels of dopamine, noradrenaline and corticosterone in blood, brain cortex, hippocampus, and striatum, wherease increased serotonin level. The combination of GTE and L-theanine showed much greater effects than single treatment of each component, and the effects are comparable to diazepam (2 mg/kg). Therefore, this study suggests that the combination of GTE and L-theanine may act effective and be useful for stress relieving treatment.

  • In order to investigate the anticonvulsive effect of Jinkyungondamtang, the experiment were performed in mice. After solid exract of Jinkyungondamtang was orally administered to mice, four types of convulsion were induced in mice by electric shock, strychnine, picrotoxin, and caffeine. Each of the time to elicit the convulsion and to die was observed. Results were as follows: 1. In the case of convulsion induced by electric shock, the lapse of the time to elicit convulsion and the time to die were delayed by oral administration of Jinkyungondam-tang(P<0.05, P<0.025). 2. The solid extracts of Jinkyungondamtang were revealed rem- arkable effect in delaying the time to die induced by stry-chnine (P<0.05). 3. By oral administration of Jinkyungondamtang, the lapse of the time to elicit convulsion and to die were delayed significantly to elicit convulsion inducing by picrotoxin (P<0.05, P<0.05). 4. Considerable prolongation of the lapse of the time to elicit the convulsion was observed in convulsion induced caffeine due to the anticonvulsive effects of Jinkyungondamtang (P<0.05).
