  • The Objective of advanced EMU Project is development of new technologies, that can resolve the system problems of conventional EMU, for reducing vehicle maintenance, improving passenger's service using IT and providing environmental friendly. As a concept of advanced EMU, We will develop the DDM with individual driving wheel for reducing of maintenance cost and full-electric braking system without pneumatic braking, and a new bogie for loadable DDM, and pre-diagnosis system which informs possible system error, and decentralization of vehicle control. To improve transport reliability, and energy storage system for saving energy, and fallen passenger detection system for improving passenger's safety at the platform.

  • AS City traffic means, the electric railway of the role is overwhelming with recognizing good merits of safety, no environment disruption and accurate destination time. Currently, Korea subway are running about 290km through eight subway lines. The latest constructed subway had been made by imperoved matherials which is going on improving. Therefore, we researched this project to keep up facilites easily, repress a leakge current and reduse install cost and repair time in changing facility at overhead Contact wire system because of arc by reforming construction plan about Expansion Joint and Air Section which is regarded as weak point when facilities are fixed and maintianed of Rigid Trolley bar System. as above we can contribute various part to making useful O.C.S(overhead contact wire system)

  • In this paper, numerically evaluated is the regulations for crashworthy design of the Korean standard urban train suggested by KRRI. The 4-car consist of K-EMU(Korean Electric Multiple Unit) train developed in recent is analyzed under various collision conditions such as normal coupling, heavy shunt, light and heavy collisions. The collision conditions are assumed as K-EMU collides against another stationary one at 5 kph, 10 kph, 25 kph and 32 kph. According to the numerical results and bibliographical study, it is necessary that the regulations by KRRI be complemented from crashworthy point of view. Furthermore, the K-EMU train is recommended to adopt a new coupler with an additional energy absorber or a mechanical fuse.

  • Lithium-ion batteries have been used in energy storage systems (ESS), electric vehicles (EVs), etc. due to their high safety, fast charging and long lifecycle. This paper aims to improve the convenience of users by changing the wired battery stack used in the battery pack, wirelessly using RFID, reducing the internal volume of the battery pack, reducing the size of the battery pack. In this paper, we propose a battery management system which can provide the flexibility of battery pack expansion and maintenance by using lithium ion battery, battery management system (BMS) and wireless communication for light weight of 1Kw small battery pack. Also, by flexibly arranging the cell layout inside the battery pack and designing to reduce the size of the outer shape of the battery pack.

  • In this paper various information D/B on track and facilities, electric/communication equipment and safety equipment required to support the emergencies related to high-speed railway was implemented, the practical local information in the proximity of high-speed line was identified by drawing the roads accessible to the track on the numerical map, and the development and the application of the information providing system based on GIS for the purpose of emergency response and its support, which can be helpful to request the external organizations such as local authorities, police offices and fire brigades for the emergencies, was proceed.

  • Because the traditional filters have many demerits, multi-step electric oil filter have manufactured the efficiency of insulating oil to improve. Therefore, the function of oil filter to improve based on my experience and know-how about my job. Through this study have obtained many merits. The efficiency of insulating oil is improved. The waste oil reused in repair works of the damaged transformer. Multi-step filter is shortening the working time and safety. it is handy for use and movement. This study lengthen the expected life span of filter. The improvement of oil filter bring about elevation of productivity.

  • This paper presented a actual conditions on a false-tripping of ELB(Earth Leakage Breakers) and an assessment of the harmonics due to non-linear electronic equipment such as personal computers, rectifier, electric furnace and test equipments in plant installations. Actual conditions on a failure of ELB were surveyed and analyzed by making up a question to safety managers of plant installations. Also, power quality measurements such as harmonic currents, voltage and current waveform and current imbalance were made at various plant installations where nuisance tripping of ELB is often occurred. The results of this study can be used in making decisions regarding cause of ELB trip and operating and tripping characteristics test of ELB when subjected to distorted current waveform.

  • As the necessity to utilize deep-placed underground spaces is increasing, we have to seriously consider the safety problems arising from the U/G spaces which is a restricted environment. Due to the higher cost of land compensation for above ground area and environmental issues, the plan to utilize deep-placed U/G spaces is currently only being established for the construction of U/G road network and GTX. However it is also expected that the U/G spaces are to be used as a living space because of the growing desires to change the above ground areas into the environmentally green spaces. Accordingly it is necessary to protect the U/G environments which is vulnerable against desasters caused by fire, explosion, flooding, terrorism, electric power failure, etc. properly. We want to introduce the principles of the Quantitative Risk Assessment(QRA) method for preparedness against the desasters arising from U/G environments, and also want to introduce an example of QRA which was implemented for the GOTTHARD tunnel which is the longest one in Europe.

A Stress Analysis Method for the Rotor Design of an IPMSM Considering Radial Force

  • In the design of the rotor of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM), the bridge between the permanent magnets helps prevent the scattering of permanent magnets and pole pieces during high-speed operation. In the design of a motor, if the bridge is too thick, its performance will be largely degraded because of flux leakage. Additionally, if the bridge is too thin, its mechanical safety cannot be guaranteed. Thus, an accurate analysis method is required to determine the thickness of the bridge. Conventional stress analysis methods determine the thickness of the bridge by only considering the centrifugal force of the rotors. In this study, however, a method that additionally considers the radial force generated by the air-gap flux density based on the conventional methods is proposed and reflected in the design of a traction motor for electric vehicles. Finally, the validity of this study is verified through a reliability test related to high-speed operation.

  • This paper analyzes robotic technology developed for live-line electricity distribution and its applicability to domestic environment. In doing so, available robotic systems developed for the live-line work are thoroughly investigated and compared in terms of from robotic functionality to economic feasibility. To assess the technology readiness for domestic live-line robot, the rubber gloves based direct live-line engineering methods have been also analyzed and mapped into robotic technology requisites. The results are expected as a fundamental data to help with solving the safety and economics issues when considering development and introduction of compact live-line robot for complex domestic electricity distribution environment.
