  • There are many EMU lines in korea. But only one type has been applied to passenger side door. This type is so called "Pocket sliding type". This type has some week points. To begin with, it is not good for decreasing the noisy form the outside of carbody. And the second time, if some obstacles are put between sliding door, only driver can operate re-open door switch manually ill driver's cab. This type is so dangerous for passengers. So many people want to the new door type that have no defect. KRRI joined forces with ANT corporation for pneumatic plug door system. This type will be good for decreasing the noisy, passenger′s safe. The project was started at the last year on November and will be finished on June, this year In this paper, we will deal with the role of cylinder, planetary gear, door control unit, dynamic mechanism, and the report of FEM, type test. This paper will contribute to tile electric motor control plug door system.

  • It is one of the most effective methods for improving the performance of electric railway vehicles to make better the wheel-rail adhesion characteristics. To study adhesion characteristic is to develop the equivalent reduction machine to experiment on the adhesion system. The experiment system makes it possible to change the wheel-rail adhesion force with various adhesion parameters, and therewith to test the adhesion control system with the reduction machine in a laboratory. In this paper, for improving adhesion performance shows actually control methods.

  • The flywheel generator in use as a power source for experimental device can be large enough to generate the electric power to make it suitable for application in wide rage of industries. The proposed system pruduces the good performance for power control. In this paper, the validity of the flywheel for power storage is described and the new control method which applies the space vector control scheme are proposed. This system is superior to conventional power compensator in the aspect of stability improvement and it is possible to make the converter capacity small. Continuous operation by flywheel can be realized even during power network faults such as 1-line ground.

  • The cooling technology of power conversion semiconductors in the propulsion system for the HEMU(High Electrical Multi Unit) are applied in water cooling method and phase change method such as the immersed type and the heat pipe type. Both of cooling systems need a condenser and a fan through forced wind to emit that is radiated heat from electric power conversion semiconductor(IGBT) stack effectively, now in the case of Japanese Fastec 360S, is using ram-air that is flowed in establishing cooling passage to propulsion system for cooling of condenser. In this research, it is that achieved the computing numerical analysis using ADINA of commertial program to examine flow characteristics and pressure distribution of ram-air for a condenser in cooling passage.

This research designs and manufactures the water cooling system that could cool about heat load Q=2kW and performance tests to apply it by an electric power conversion semiconductors(IGBT) cooling technology. Experimental condition made change of a flow rate, an air velocity and a heat load to confirm operation characteristics of water cooling device, and when is heat load 2kW, air velocity 20 m/s, and water flow rate 7kg/s, it is about $80^{\circ}C$ to temperature of cooling plate.

  • After constructing the high-speed railroad, KORAIL acquired advanced maintenance techniques about Rolling-stocks. Also RCM theory is applied to maintenance field like as inspection period and method. In the meantime, the development of the maintenance methode for Rolling-stock is slow when it compares to the components and system technology. For this reason KORAIL tries to build the optimal maintenance system which can lead the Rolling-stock maintenance technique. The existing vehicle except High Speed train KTX are separated to electric motor car, electric locomotive, diesel locomotive, diesel car, passenger car and freight car. The inspection period and methode for existing vehicles which mentioned above will be examined and the optimal Rolling-stock maintenance technique will be applied.

  • Recently, trends in new transportation system development have been primarily focused on sustainable and ecofriendly mobility solutions. The personal rapid transit (PRT) system has been considered a promising candidate in this category; its competitiveness is being improved through convergence with cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) technologies. However, battery-powered vehicles pose difficult technical challenges in attempts to achieve reliable and efficient operation. In this study, a design approach for a solar-power assisted PRT system is presented with small-scale demonstrations aimed at circumventing challenges facing its adoption, as well as helping speed the transition to electric-powered ground transportation. From the results, it is expected that flexible photovoltaic (PV) cells will be able to supply 11% of the power required by the service equipment installed in a prototype vehicle. In particular, flexible photovoltaic (PV) cells are advantageous in terms of cost, weight, and design considerations. Most importantly, the cells' flexibility and attach-ability are expected to give them great potential for extended application in various areas.

  • Among many types of light rail transits (LRT), the rubber-tired automated guide-way transit (AGT) is prevalent in many countries due to its advantages such as good acceleration/deceleration performance, high climb capacity, and reduction of noise and vibration. However, AGT is generally powered by high-voltage electric power feeding system and it may cause electromagnetic interference (EMI) to measurement sensors. The fiber optic sensor system is free from EMI and has been successfully applied in many applications of civil engineering. Especially, fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors are the most widely used because of their excellent multiplexing capabilities. This paper investigates a prestressed concrete girder bridge in the Korean AGT test track using FBG based sensors to monitor the dynamic response at various vehicle speeds. The serviceability requirements provided in the specification are also compared against the measured results. The results show that the measured data from FBG based sensors are free from EMI though electric sensors are not, especially in the case of electric strain gauge. It is expected that the FBG sensing system can be effectively applied to the LRT railway bridges that suffered from EMI.

  • City Train Technology that is large and complex system and consists of mechanical, electronic, electric, materials, computer, communication, civil/track etc. is very important area of railway industry, national fundamental industry. The standardization of city train system as a public transportation method and foundation of national economy is very important in order to do effective operation and to get fundamental technology, and the information system of the standards is required to operate the city train system effectively. By building data base of city train system design knowledge using computer-aided system engineering tool-Cradle, the system development issues and the design solutions are used by all engaged persons, and are managed by modeling and documentation. And this system will support architecture design consistently and effectively by applying this system to formalize early development process, to system requirements and configuration management, to system interface analysis and management and to system behavior analysis etc.. This study is for construction of data base of system design knowledge through making data base of many kinds of standards using CASE tool based on System Engineering Process, and introduces a model to support concurrent engineering for all engineers involved in system development allowing access to standard DB through Web from anywhere and at anytime.
