Corrosion Monitoring for Offshore Wind Farm's Substructures by using Electrochemical Noise Sensors

  • Electrochemical noise(EN) has been used to analyze the deterioration of coating films of offshore wind substructures. In this study, prototype sensors using EN have been developed to detect the corrosion rate. To verify the reliability of sensors, experiments were conducted both in the laboratory and offshore using probe and standard samples. New analysis and data processing techniques show that the sensor can provide useful information about the corrosion rate.

Vibration sources and its countermeasures of high speed electric trains for subway (지하철용 고속전동차의 진동원 및 개선대책)

  • The electric train in the first line subway runs faster in the block from Suwon to Cheonan than the general block. The faster run results in the deterioration of ride quality due to the increase of noise and vibration. To reduce the noise and vibration of the electric train, a running test of the electric train was performed in the block from Suwon to Cheonan. The experimental results show that the sources of the noise and vibration basically comes from the irregularity of the railroad track and the connection part between car body and bogie. The possible countermeasure of the high speed electric train can be the reinforcement of the center pivot to have more flexibility and the frequent maintenance of electric train.

  • An electric railway is unique system that electric trains consumed huge electric power are travelled and is much interested with EMC. There were several problems exceeding the standard in the frequency range of 9 kHz to 150 kHz because the radiation noises were moved the higher frequency range according to developing the power electronic technology. It is studied the analytic simulation for reducing noise level in terms of cables of the electric train and is experimentally approved the reduction effectiveness.

  • Transfer Path Analysis (TPA) is commonly used, by car makers and parts suppliers, analysis process to root the cause of NVH problems. In general, TPA is an analyzing technique to find the contributing factors of noise/vibration problems, and their transfer path in vehicle. However, not only TPA is used to analyze the source of NVH problems but also is used to predict NVH performance prior to the proto vehicle, or to set the development target for next new vehicle. Automotive parts manufacturing companies have to set NVH performance target when developing new systems just as car makers have NVH target set for new vehicle. Nevertheless, most of components are currently being developed based on subjective evaluation without an objective target. To judge the suitability of using TPA to set NVH target of electric parking brake, this research analyzed the transfer path by setting them in two points of view; Chassis Module and Electric Parking Brake, and comparing the measured value and calculated value. From this result, NVH target of electric parking brake will be approached in level of vehicle, system and component.

  • This paper demonstrates the application of the preventive maintenance, process to analyse and develop preventive maintenance tasks for rectifier and electric transformer in the SeoulMetro company. Attention is given to the frequency designation, technical details regarding the radiometer, previous electromagnetic noise measurements, and applications of the noise data. This study confirms the feasibility and effectiveness of preventive maintenance applications in the electric trains.

  • Undesired vibratory motion of an electric connector is controlled in an active method with piezoelectric sensors and actuators. A special electric control box is developed which is suitable for the purpose. Experimental results show that the system can effectively reduce amplitude responses connector to external forces.

  • Since the opening of the double-track railway for the Gyeongchun local electric train and the semi-high speed train ITX, floating population between Seoul and Chuncheon has rapidly increased. This is attributable to the competitiveness of the railway service in terms of punctuality and safety of operation, mass transportation and low fare. However, many passengers have expressed strong dissatisfaction and displeasure towards the interior noise and its high rate of increase, particularly in tunnel sections. In this study, the interior noise characteristics of Gyeongchun local electric train and ITX were analyzed and compared. Noise levels, frequency spectrum and sound quality indices were compared for the open land, tunnel and bridge. Finally, from the noise levels depending on the location in the vehicle compartment, the noise transmission path was determined and a basic strategy for reducing the interior noise was developed.

  • This study is to present a method for reductin of noise and vibration of home electric motors coupled to the mechanical load causing relatively big amplitude of vibration. The noise and vibration factors have been analysed in the divisions such as the pattern related to the armature reaction, the pattern related to the circulating current by induction and the other patterns those are affected by a dditive magnetic field and have an effect on mechanical constants. From the systematic mutual relations between the patterns and daping effects, it is possible to derive the fundamental measure for reduction of noise and vibration. Vibration measurements and analysis were carried out in accordance with the planned experimentation and thre object model was chosen randomly from the production line in a factory where home electric machines were mass-produced. Based on the above-mentioned fundamental measure, suppression effects on noise and vibration have been analysed according to the number of slots, the amount of rotor skew and the way the stator winding connection was series or parallel.

  • EPS(Electric Power Steering) system, which has replaced the hydraulic steering system(HPS or HPAS) in many passenger cars recently, have many merits such as low energy consumption, easy mounting, light weight and improvement of environmental pollution. However, EPS system has the problem of motor noise when motor is rotated, which can make a driver feel uncomfortable. There are many techniques to solve those problems, but they are not clear. It is necessary to evaluate the mechanical noise in steering systems, because an EPS has vibration sources such as at the motor gear reducer, manual gears and intermediate joints. In this paper, reduction technique of EPS motor noise is introduced.
