Electrochemical properties of Georgia kaolinite in aqueous suspension were studied by ion adsorption, potentiometric titration, and electrophoretic mobility measurements. Kaolinite in 0.001 M and 0.1 M NaCl solution showed qualitatively both pH independent and pH depender negative and positive charges through pH range 2.5-11.0 when dissolved aluminum ions from kaolinite were considered as well as $Na^+$ and $Cl^-$ as index ions. Electrophoretic mobilities (EM) of 0.02 wt. % kaolinite suspension in distilled water and 0.001 M NaCl solution were approximately constant against mobility measuring time consumed in the electrophoresis cell at different pH values, and isoelectric points(IEP) were around pH 4.7. EM values in 0.1 M NaCl solution were positive and constant against mobility measuring time below pH 4; but above pH 4, EM values were negative for the first 10 seconds followed by positive values which became approximately constant through stepped changes after 10 minutes. Hydrated cations may bind to the six- member oxygen ring sites having multiple partial negative charges on the exterior tetrahedral layer surface by both electrostatic and hydrogen bonding force while hydrated anions bind to the partially positively charged hydrogen atoms on the exterior octahedral layer surface. Parts of the aluminol groups on the exterior octahedral layer surface as well as edge faces may be involved in complex reactions and have both anion and cation exchange capacities in the electrolyte solution above pH 4.

The incorporation of 90 nm alumina particles into an epoxy matrix to form a composite microstructure is described in present study. It is shown that the use of ultrafine particles results in a substantial change in the behavior of the composite, which can be traced to the mitigation of internal charges when a comparison is made with conventional $Al_2O_3$ fillers. A variety of diagnostic techniques have been used to augment pulsed electro-acoustic space charge measurement to provide a basis for understanding the underlying physics of the phenomenon. It would appear that, when the size of the inclusions becomes small enough, they act cooperatively with the host structure and cease to exhibit interfacial properties. It is postulated that the $Al_2O_3$ particles are surrounded by high charge concentrations. Since $Al_2O_3$ particles have very high specific areas, these regions allow limited charge percolation through $Al_2O_3$ filled dielectrics. The practical consequences of this have also been explored in terms of the electric strength exhibited. It would appear that there was a window in which real advantages accumulated from the nano-formulated material. An optimum filler loading of about 0.5 wt.% was indicated.

Recently deep interests have been paid on the effective generation of ozone, which has been widely used for water treatment, deodorization, color removal, and chemical processing of exhausted smoke. The silent discharge reaction has been proposed as the most effective one in the many ozone generation methods, because the silent discharge can be generated under the conditions of lower applied voltage and power consumption, compared other ones. In this paper, in order to improve the ozone generation and ozone generation efficiency, the conventional silent discharge chamber with $Al_2O_3$ dielectric layer and tubular ferroelectric bed discharge reactor packed with $Al_2O_3$ pellets were made, and the silent discharge of the reactors were studied experimentally. The ozone generation characteristics are also discussed based on the discharge characteristics, especially on the wall charge accumulation properties and power consumption. The results show that the electric charges of discharge tube with bead are around 2.5 times as large as those without bead. In the discharge chamber packed with dielectric beads, the ozone concentration and the energy yield characteristics were also improved, compared with those in the conventional silent discharge reactor.
We use the outer gap model to explain the spectrum and the energy dependent light curves of the X-ray and soft ${\gamma}$-ray radiations of the spin-down powered pulsar PSR B1509-58. In the outer gap model, most pairs inside the gap are created around the null charge surface and the gap's electric field separates the opposite charges to move in opposite directions. Consequently, the region from the null charge surface to the light cylinder is dominated by the outflow current and that from the null charge surface to the star is dominated by the inflow current. We suggest that the viewing angle of PSR B1509-58 only receives the inflow radiation. The incoming curvature photons are converted to pairs by the strong magnetic field of the star. The X-rays and soft ${\gamma}$-rays of PSR B1509-58 result from the synchrotron radiation of these pairs. The magnetic pair creation requires a large pitch angle, which makes the pulse profile of the synchrotron radiation distinct from that of the curvature radiation. We carefully trace the pulse profiles of the synchrotron radiation with different pitch angles. We find that the differences between the light curves of different energy bands are due to the different pitch angles of the secondary pairs, and the second peak appearing at E > 10 MeV comes from the region near the star, where the stronger magnetic field allows the pair creation to happen with a smaller pitch angle.
In this study, we synthesized a combination of graphene oxide (GO) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) and confirm that GO can be used for CO2 photoreduction. TiO2 exhibited highly efficient combination with other conventional electric charges generated by these paration phenomenon for suppression of hole-electron recombination. This improved the efficiency of CO2 photoreduction. The synthetic form of GO-TiO2 used in this study was agraphene sheet surrounded by TiO2 powder. Efficiency and stability were enhanced by combination of GO and TiO2. In a CO2 photoreduction experiment, the highest CO conversion rate was 0.652 μmol/g·h in GO10-TiO2 (2.3-fold that of pure TiO2) and the highest CH4 production rate was 0.037 μmol/g·h in GO0.1-TiO2 (2.4-fold that of pure TiO2). GO enhances photocatalytic efficiency by functioning as a support and absorbent, and enabling charge separation. With increasing GO concentration, the CH4 level decreases to~45% due to decreased transfer of electrons. In this study, TiO2 together with GO yielded a different result than the normal doping effect and selective CO2 photoreduction.

Hysteresis loops of the ferroelectric thin films such as PLZT(10/30/70), PLT(10) and PZT(30/70) was simulated using the field-dependent polarization model and compared to the measured loops. In case of PZT(30/70) thin film, as the real saturation or polarization at the applied voltage or larger than 5V appears slack and its value is quite different from the simulated one, it is deduced that the ferroelectric polarization of PZT(30/70) is generated not only by the pure dipoles but also by various electric charges. The drain current of quasi-MFISFET is expressed by using the square-law FET and field-dependent polarization models. The modeling results are analogous to the experimental values. The channel of quasi-MFISFET using PZT(30/70) forms more quickly compared to that of quasi-MFISFET using PLZT(10/30/70) or PLT(10) in the state of 'write' gate voltage of -10V. This may be because the decrease rate of the polarization in the PZT(30/70) thin film is 3~4 times more rapid than that of the polarization in the PLZT(10/30/70) or the PLT(10) thin film in the retention characteristics.

In this study, activated carbons (ACs) were modified as electrode materials for an electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) by controlling oxygen- and nitrogen-containing functional groups. The morphological and chemical properties of ACs were analyzed through scanning electron microscopy (SEM), fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer, automatic elemental analyzer (EA) and Boehm titration. Also, charge/discharge tests were performed to investigate the EDLC performance. Oxygen- and nitrogen-containing functional groups were introduced on the surface of ACs through acid and urea treatments, respectively. ACs with nitrogen-containing functional groups showed 2 mA increase of gravimetric discharge capacity and quick achievement of maximum charge/discharge performance. However, ACs with oxygen-containing functional groups showed low discharge capacity and its gradual decrease during further cyclic test, since the functional groups interrupted adsorption/desorption of charges in the electrolyte on the surface of ACs.

Recently, 'Government 3.0' has become the topic since the inauguration of the new government. According to Government 3.0 Promotion Master Plan, this means providing bilateral customized administrative service based on the values of opening-up, sharing, and cooperation for the individuals of the people. Currently, if disaster victims, who have private property damaged by natural disasters such as typhoon and torrential rain, want to receive disaster relief service supports such as financial support, tax cut, reduction in electric and communication charges, they have to visit each of applicable organizations and apply for the relief service supports. The application forms and procedures are so diverse and complex that disaster victims undergo many discomforts. So this thesis established the solution of residents' discomforts and the providing of practical benefits through disaster victims' one stop application for service as the research objective. Accordingly, the solution plan was concretely presented through preparing the relief service promotion strategies comprising the establishment of administrative service supporting system and the preparation of legal and institutional device, the establishment of computing system for one stop service and the reinforcement of general publicity for successful promotion of cooperation projects.

High-mobility and two dimensional conduction at the interface between two band insulators, LaAlO3 (LAO) and SrTiO3 (STO), have attracted considerable research interest for both applications and fundamental understanding. Several groups have reported the photoconductivity of LAO/STO, which give us lots of potential development of optoelectronic applications using the oxide interface. Recently, a giant photo response of Pd nano particles/LAO/STO is observed in UV illumination compared with LAO/STO sample. These phenomena have been suggested that the correlation between the interface and the surface states significantly affect local charge modification and resulting electrical transport. Water and gas adsorption/desorption can alter the band alignment and surface workfunction. Therefore, characterizing and manipulating the electric charges in these materials (electrons and ions) are crucial for investigating the physics of metal oxide. Proposed mechanism do not well explain the experimental data in various ambient and there has been no quantitative work to confirm these mechanism. Here, we have investigated UV photo response in various ambient by performing transport and Kelvin probe force microscopy measurements simultaneously. We found that Pd nano particles on LAO can form Schottky contact, it cause interface carrier density and characteristics of persistence photo conductance depending on gas environment. Our studies will help to improve our understanding on the intriguing physical properties providing an important role in many enhanced light sensing and gas sensing applications as a catalytic material in different kinds of metal oxide systems.

First of all, the properties imparted to PET fabrics are resistance to and recovery from creasing or wrinkling when wet or dry; high resistance to stretch in the filament yarns but not in the staple; high abrasion resistance; good texture and appearance; resistance to heat ageing; good chemical resistance and good resistance, behind glass, to sunlight. But, the low moisture regain of PET fabric conduces to static troubles in textile processing. Furthermore, garments made from PET may, during wear, develop electric charges which attract to the fabric particles of soil(dirt, swarf, dust) flying in the air, so that the cuffs of shirts, for example, become soiled quickly and are not easily laundered clean. The sericin constitutes 25$\sim$30% of silk protein and surrounds the fibroin fiber with sticky layer that supports the formation of a cocoon. The useful biochemical properties of sericin protein are oxidation resistant, antibacterial, UV resistant, hydrophilic property, and good affinity with hydrophobic material. These properties can be used as an improving reagent or a coating agent for natural and synthetic fibers, fabrics, and other intermediate products. The sericin is also applied to cross-link, and can be blended with other materials. In this study, we modified the surface of PET fabric by mixture of sericin finishing agent; sericin, polyuretane binder and 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) cross-link agent. Also, we investigated the finshing effect; moisture regain, stiffness, handle, drape and electrostatic. The moisture regain of PET fabric treated with sericin finishing agent was higher than that of untreated PET fabric. As a result of evaluating influence about handle of PET fabrics treated with sericin finishing agent, it was confirmed that the sericin finishing agent could be use as a linen like finishing agent.
